Is engineering here worth it?

Likes

All the teachers are well qualified and equipped to teach but the quality of teaching differs as per individual.

Dislikes

The say of students in matters concerning them or others is nil. We have very little say as the management takes all decisons.
Teachers have ego and superiority issues between themselves which might affect the children in 4th year, project phases.
Fests, events and functions are not upto any expectations.Schools in trivandrum have better events than our college.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan, infosys, commandtech, bimlabs, gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

I applied to cet, tkm, gec for branches eee and ec My first option was cet for which i couldn't get admission due to my rank. Cet requires rank below 1000. And my second option was mec (my college). I choose this college over gec and tkm because it was in my home town itself and it had better placement opportunities. My cousin studied here few years back and is now working a top tech company.I applied for Cs in MSRIT and AMRITA,but the fee structure over there is too high(around 3-4 lakh per year). Here overall fee amount is equivalent the yearly fee.To get admission in MEC,a person needs to write keam exam .Three phases of allotment are held in here.At the beginning of all allotment,we could change our preferences. For CSE BATCH,CUTOFF RANK FOR merit is around 2k and Management around 3.5k .For CSBS it's around 3k for Merit and 7-8k for management....Read More
