Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I have pursued science till my 12, but my interest soon shifted to civil services and so I wanted to either take history or political science as my majors and eventually I decided to take history The course has offered me excellent teaching and better understanding of the history of the world,India and my state Nagaland The course could be a little more elaborative in the history of the Asian peninsula Only the important events and countries have been highlighted Their are 2 exams in a semester 1.internal exams This exams is part of our internal marks And we are meant to study 2-3 units for 30 marks which is then converted to 10 marks for our internals The timing is 2 hours 2. Semester exams This exams is for our external marks And 5 units come for the exam The time allotted is 3 hrs The the exams are very easy if we study and in my opinion should be a little more difficult

Internships Opportunities

2.5

The internships are unfortunately only available to the department of commerce and business administration Therefore our department don't get to do internships However I being in the students council have some knowledge about it The internship are not organised by the college and the students have to find their own way to get internships And the internships are done all over India based on their availability

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees is 1500 per month and the hikes can be done without prior notice to the students or parents The fees for one academic year is 32000 And the complete fees for the course would be around 1 lakh However if we include our hostel fees the amount will increase further The college does not provide any scholarships, but the students avails scholarships through the state scholarships programs I have been in the students council but there are no stipends awarded for our services However the college offers such awards to the students employed in canteen and the library as part time workers

Campus Life

5

Our college has one of the biggest intra college festivals in the whole of north east India the "spring fest" this fest is usually held in the month of march and are fully organised by the students council The fest goes for two days and has various events in it all the departments also has their on fest The clubs and associations also frequently hold their own programs and events Over all the college has an event or the other every week There are around 21000 books in the library There are two libraries in the campus one in UG and the other in PG Many books are upto date but most of it are outdated There are 61 classrooms and out of which 53 classrooms are fitted with LCD projectors The college has its college week every year in the month of October Where the college is divided into several groups and many sports and athletics are played for 6 days The college has the students council which is run by the students and plays a crucial role in the welfare of the students

Admission

A candidate should have a minimum of 55% for taking admission in the college However the admission is further filtered and the candidates are selected based on their marks The application forms are given out in various locations in and around the college It can also be availed in the college website And it is also announced in local newspapers Some reservations are given to catholic students As explained there are two types of exams in a semester We get ample time and the exams are easy The admission is done only in the campus and cannot be done via online

Faculty

5

There are around 100 teachers and but the student teacher ratio is a little un even In some class one teacher teaches around 160 students, which is rather inconvenient for the students and also the teachers The teachers however are very hardworking and dedicated they are also very learned and highly qualified most of the teachers have their UGC NET overall they are very professional We can interact with our teachers almost anytime of the day Infact some teachers are also available even during the nights for any doubts and explanations They are also very happy to help us with our problems beyond of our academics

Course Curriculum Overview:

Ever since I was a kid I was always interested in studying history. Infact it was my favourite thing to study. I took up this course because It's fun to study history. As an aspirant taking up history helps me to be more aware of the dates and names for the competitive exams. I think there are no improvements or changes to be made in this course as the lectures teaches so well. If you are taking history as your honors then I suggest you to study everyday and not wait for the last moment as this course is very vast and not easy for one night preparation

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm not sure why I chose this course but yeah I did.....what I am able to tell you is that I was quite a little pushed by people saying that this course would be more important incase I wanted to pursue further studies outside or wanted to appear for civil services .some of the improvements I would like to bring for this curriculum is it would have been better if we were made to study more practically.. maybe bringing some practical learning woul have helped rather than only studying in theory. It would also have been better if the teaching was based on how he/ she wanted the students would have made proper connection rather than being too serious at all times.and I would also have loved it if they would not ask random questions to Radom studies albeit their reluctance I know you want to engage but it makes the students not want to attend the class..... rather you can ask questions and the ones interested can answer you or you can continue on with your class after clarifying your answe

Remarks:

It's packed with the best faculty and also it's the nearest college from where I stay. It has an amazing environment and noise pollution free. It's easy to find transportation also. The college has a lot of extra curriculum activities and provides even counseling. I took up Sociology because I grew up believing I would become a social worker. The college has also produced a good number of toppers and is considered one amongst the most cleanest college in Kohima.
