Good college

GATE-2001. I scored 256 rank. I chose this college as it has the required infrastructure for the course and I was not disappointed. I also scored 17th rank in the M.E entrance test conducted by the university and got the seat through merit counselling.

This was a 3 semester course. First 2 sems had 6 subjects each and a lab, third semester was for project. We could chose from different options like Vision systems, condition monitoring, CNC etc. for the electives.

All the students who were qualified in GATE had a stipend of Rs.5000/- per month. Apart from this, we also had offers from Ship building center in Visakhapatnam. Each student who worked on the AutoCAD drawings of the center got about 5000 per month. In 2003-04, that was good money.

Almost all my batch mates got placed. out of 18, 8 got placed in CAD software jobs in M&M, Ashok Leyland. 3 got jobs in TCS and rest pursued their doctoral programs. Every one got settled within 1year after the course.

GITAM conducts student fests every year. Paper presentation, science exhibitions are part of the fest. Also several cultural programs are held. Participants of more than 500 attend the fest and the university has a special wing for cultural programs.

Fee was affordable. 10000/- per semester. Ofcourse the management quota fee was much more almost 50,000 per sem, but with the incentives offered.

No such facility. Bank loans were available in the campus banks- Union bank of India and State bank of India.

We had only one girl in our class, but in general girls were in good numbers in the campus. lab facilities were excellant. we had a CNC lathe and CNC milling machines, We had CATIA, Master CAM and Auto CAD in lab.

GITAM has a very strong network of Alumni. We are a part for the network. We hold functions every year in GITAM and go there with our families. Also some of the alumni are in very high positions so they help the students to get placed.

University has a predetermined and notified structure of examinations. 2 mid term exams were conducted and a final exam at the end of semester. The only problem was that final exams were held continuously without any break.
