What Students Say

Likes

The overall studies and the faculties are good.
The learning environment is good enough.
Other facilities like sports and overall development is also good.

Dislikes

The fees is so expensive. It is not affordable for middle class people.
The campus is situated in a place that is too hot.
Few things are lacking like a good coordination between teachers.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is is relevant, but few subjects are like out of our course. The curriculum id set to prepare us for rea-world applications. To improve few irrelevant subjects should be removed.

Class Size: 40Course Fees: INR 100000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Rhe college fee is bit expensive. But we get scholarship for BPL category and State Quota. In my case the fee is ?1,00,000/- per semester which includes my tution fees, lab fees, etc. Few of my SC/ST friends are even getting more relief on their fees. Overall it is a bit expensive college.

Campus Life

The campus experience is really cool. We have an annual fest called KAALRAV i.e. the biggest college fest of Northeast India. The library facility is good and overall everything is perfect. Students are friendly and serious towards studies.

Admission

This college is one of the best engineering college of our state. I got confirmed admission at Sikkim Government College, Tadong and Sikkim GOVERNMENT college, Burtuk but I choose this college because I wanted to do B. TECH.

Faculty

The faculty-to-student teacher is okay, but the faculty-to-student relationship is not so good. They are not so approachable. I feel like Sir Bimal is the best teacher, he teaches chemistry. Personally I don't dislike any faculty. Per semester there are 3 exams and they are medium level. But few students dail to clear the exams like 1 out of 10 students

A Brief Journey about my College Life

Likes

Faculty is Good but still for the new student dont't expect much you have to study by your own teacher will help with the exams question pattern.
Student engagement is good monthly shows, game competition like cricket match, football, basketball, tennis, volleyball, hackathons and many more things

Dislikes

Mess food is not as expected as it was on first day of joining the college, water contains too much iron
Teachers will not give that much attention to the students

Placement Experience:

from 6th sem students become eligible for campus placement more than 100 companies visited in my year but around 90 students didn't get placed and many students who got job offers the didnt recevied joining letter from companies like dxc Bangalore and Titan Highest package was off campus which was 24 Lpa one students got placed in Samsung and one student on Campus got 16LPA in Nomura

Likes

The weather there is just like when you come out from your hostel it seems like a mountain you above the cloud all feels like so energetic
Ofcourse you will receive a good friends here if you good only then only otherwise negative people as well
yes the local food which is famous like thupa chowmin faley chura mimi

Dislikes

the faciliy was not much in the hostel as well as the classroom but still whatever is affordable is giving
The girls to boyes ratio is very less so take care for that
The rules and regulation and yes the mess regulation so discutting

Placement Experience:

Placement is all about your preparation as opportunities come too much but if you have power then crack that one. Highest was going in 2024 batch is 44 lpa and 66 percent was placed as there are recession going on this time due to covid all market crases.

Likes

I like to play basketball and football and every sports
I love to eat Canteen food and juice and every canteen food
Classroom is nice and big Air conditioner is cool and I love desk bench it's nice and comfortable

Dislikes

Teachers are the things I dislike the most they don't know how to treat student
Also I dislike collage attandance criteria which is strict 80% minimum
I also dislike security gaurd of our collage everyday I go to same collage with same face though he asks for identity card everyday

Placement Experience:

Yeah replacement system I am not family or with this placement in all because had just recently join not just recently it's been like one and half year but also in placement system I am not focusing on that side because you know what I don't rely on this college I just need degree from this college and just want to be independent and search for job business on my own this collage is just waste of time still I am saying this tho I cannot do anything about this because I am already in second year so if I leave this college now I have no other option to do better option to do so I am I am stock in this college you can say and replacement system everything is just fine not so much good not

Heyyy

Likes

Good environment, with the campus being beautiful.
Lots of activities, have taken part in many.
The seniors and teacher here are really friendly and helpful.

Dislikes

There are a lot of exams, with the college following the same old system followed by most engineering colleges.

Placement Experience:

I do not have much idea about this field. If I'm not wrong internships begin from 2nd to 3rd year itself, and placements from 4th year. The avergae package here is around 6 LPA, and the highest package offered is 56 LPA. That'll be all from side.

Likes

Computer labs are good and well furnished
Students are good in this college as everyone is supportive
PhD scholars are good here and very helpful in nature

Dislikes

Mess food is not that good in our campus and it's getting worst day by day
Sports facilities are not good proper equipments are not provided
Some faculties are not good in teaching as they simply read the ppt

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible from 7th sem and placement was good before but In this 2024 batch it's the worst placement of all time only 58% students got placement with less package because of recession Im looking for a placement and further plan is to work for a company

Likes

I liked the faculty as they are very supportive and teach well.
The distraction free environment as there are no malls, clubs, etc. to waste your time so that you can focus on skill development
The exposure you get being in NIT as it is an institute of National Importance.

Dislikes

During rainy season it creates a lot of problem as there are a lot of leeches there and we are afraid to go out.
The mess food is not up to the mark and tasteless, although it is a problem with every mess
The hostels are very congested and we dont get place to sit on a table and study.

Placement Experience:

After 5th semester, the college has on-campus internship options and after during 7th semester, you will be eligible to sit for campus placements. Many companies come for campus placement including IBM, NVIDIA, Deloitte, etc. PLacements for CSE, ECE, and EEE are very good. In 2023 highest placement was from EEE of 44 lakhs from NVIDIA. In Mechanical most of the students get PPO. For Civil, very least options are available. Usually, 80% of students get placed every year.

Placement Experience:

Companies offer various packages to deserving candidates which ranges from 30 lakhs to 5 lakhs for CSE students. Approximately 90 percent of CSE students got placed from campus. I will go for the PG program.

The admission to this course is granted based on the marks scored by students in the entrance examination conducted for this course. Also, the students should've qualified their 10+2 in science subject to be eligible.

Amazing and Wonderful experience

Placement Experience:

Placement scenario is quite good in our college. Since it is one of the newly established NITs. We've better companies coming on campus as compared to other NITs that were established alongside us.
