Course Curriculum Overview

3

I have chosen Electrical Engineering because I find curiosity in this field while studying during JEE days. It's a core engineering field that will have a wider application in real word like power system engineering , control system engineering , VLSI engieers etc. Classes schedule are very tidious during 3 years and last year is generally have very few course to do but the main course covered under 3 years of your engineering and have very tidious schedule that include classes and 3 hours of LAB classes. Classes and lab can be more engaging if real world application and industrial application should be inculcated during teaching

Internships Opportunities

3

Various companies comes for internship like Oracle for SDE intern gives a stipend of 50k per month , HLS asia for trainee engineer with stipend 50k , atlassian for SDE intern with stipend of 1.5L per month , Amazon for SDE intern with stipend of 1.2L per month etc.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are very good as compared to most colleges in India because of NIT tag. From 3rd year onward student can apply to internships that comes in college for hiring interns and during final year students are eligible to sit for placements. Companies like Uber , Amazon , Vedanta , Atlassian , Tata , SAP , Duestche bank , Digit Insurance , IBM , Cairn Oil & gas , Optum , Ericson , Adobe , Black rock , Intuit , Microsoft and many more you can check that out from college website. Highest package offered is 80LPA and avg package is 15LPA. Around 90 percent students placed out of all eligible students.

Fees and Financial Aid

1)The year wise fees which I paid was around 60k yearly (30k per sem). 2)Fees structure (as per recent updates) for a semester is as follows: Admission fee - 1000 Library fee - 500 IT System fee - 1100 Transport facility - 500 Development fee - 3000 Corpus fee - 1000 Student aided fund - 1000 Alumni fee - 1000 T & P charges - 1000 Misc fee - 500 Medical facility - 300 Examination fee - 1200 Gymkhana/Sport fee - 1500 Medical Insurance - 270 Hostel seat rent - 1500 Light and water charges - 1000 Cable TV - 130 Mess Establishment - 1500 Total = 18000 Then there is fixed one time component of Caution money(refundable) (Institutional + Hostel) = 20000 The turion fees is different for different slabs / catergory : - SC/ST/PwD = 0 -Annual family income less than 1 Lakh = 0 -Annual family income between 1 and 5 Lakh = 20833 -Annual familty income above 5 Lakh = 62500 Hostel and Mess fees are : - BHM contribution = 1500 -Mess advance = 21000 Total = 22500 Above fee structure is for a single semester. In order to claim the fees waiver a student need to bring income certificate for that financial year and student belonging to catergories need to bring respective certifcates and affidavit during verification. 3)There are vairous scholariship schemes available for students that includes scholarship llike state scholarship , Central scholarship etc. Students need to apply to scholarship throught respective portals and submit the documents to dean of student Welfare for further process. I applied for state scholarship scheme known as Mukhya Mantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojna (MMVY) that is scholarship for MP based students and similarly students belonging to different states can check and apply to those scholarship and avail the amount through college. Also central scholarship schemes like NSP scholarship are also available to claim and many more scholarship based on merit also given to student like IEEE scholarships etc.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is good. It has lot of clubs where students can take part and grow themselves and all the necessary facilites are being provided. College conducts many fest like Tech fest and culltural fests. It has the Asia's argest digital library where you can get all resources. It has SAC building and sport complex for various activities.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility is decent. You get a seperate hostel for freshers for whole year that is seperated from senior hostellers. Every year hostel will keep changing and in final year we get single accomadation rooms. Mess food is decents and students only get elected to regulate the mess facilitites. Rooms have LAN facility that allows you to use high speed internet.

Admission

I have chosen this college because of my ranking and college NIRF ranking. So I got 24k rank in mains and by previous year analysis I found that NIT Silchar would be the best option that I can get. The admission process start from Jossa counselling and then registration on college portal and then physical verification. I have also given the exam of VIT and got selected for VIT vellore CSE programme but didn't proceeded further because I got NIT Silchar.

Faculty

4

The faculty of NIT Silchar is for sure one of the highly experienced faculties as they did there Phds from institute like IITs and have a very strong foundation over there subjects and research work. The faculty to student ratio is also decent that a faculty generally teaches a batch of students between 50-80 in single class. The faculties are easy to approach and generally very friendly when it comes to discuss doubts and career guicance. There is this professor named Rajeeb Dey who is an Associate professor of Electrical Dept and one of the finest faculty whom I ever encountered. His teaching methodology is very unique and interactive. I found him to be one of the finest faculty of NIT Silchar. Talking about exams so in a single semester Mid semester + Minor exams + End semester take place. Midsem consist of 30 marks Endsem consist of 50 marks and 20 marks is upto the faculty that generally include minor of 10 marks and rest for throught evaluation and attendance. Course structure and exam papers are set by NBA guidelines( you can search about that) and is moderate to clear and very few generally got back in these exams.

Other Applied Colleges

See I had the passion for civil since my 10th std. I am really happy about my course . Because there are many job opportunities in govt sector in Assam. I like the teachers of my dept but some are not that friendly . Maybe it depends upon their mood sometimes I don't know really . The civil course is practical it's enjoyable. I would have liked it more if it would had more placement opportunities on campus . Otherwise it's fine

Its a good college. I feel lucky to read on this college. They faculty, the facilities is nice. The environment of the college is very good for education. The management cell of the college is also do grat jobs. But the main problem I have found is placement. According to the other colleges the placement of this college is not so good. If the college can give more placement then it will become a great college. Overall its a great college full of knowledge.
