Course Curriculum Overview

4

THE FACTORS WHICH PULLED ME INTO PICKING THIS COURSE ARE - 1.VERY MUCH IN LINE WITH THE PREPARATION OF UPSC AND STATE PCS. 2.BRINGS ALONG UPSC ALONGWITH DEGREE PREPARATION ALL UNDER ONE ROOF. 3. SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS GIVEN ON ANSWER WRITING AND UNDERSTANDING WHAT TO STUDY AND HOW TO STUDY. 4. COURSE CURRICULUM DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT HELPS US TO EVEN SIT FOR ALL NATIONAL LEVEL EXAMINATIONS . 5. EXAMS ARE CONDUCTED FREQUENTLY AND THE LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY WILL BE DIFFERENT FOR REGULAR AND IRREGULAR STUDENTS. BUT FROM AN UNBIASED PERSPECTIVE, IT IS STANDARD.

Fees and Financial Aid

Admission Fee: 70,000 (one-time payment) Tuition Fee per Semester: 65,000 Caution Deposit (Refundable): ?10,000 Along with this, hostel dues: 7350 Scholarship is provided to students who have done really well in their boards. There are records of full fees waiver whenever possible to deserving candidates if they clear national level examinations such as UPSC, NET, GATE,SLET, etc. My classmates were given scholarship upto 90% since he was not financially strong. There is no fees difference for different castes. Examination fees needed to be paid before any exams which consists of 3500. Also the fees structure is not fixed and is constantly increasing for the new batches.

Campus Life

2

USTM ALONGWITH RIST HOLDS A MULTITUDE OF FESTS AND COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS. THEY HOLD COLLEGE FESTS, NORTHEAST STUDENTS FEST, ALONWITH VARIOUS CONCERTS IN THE AUDITORIUM, WHICH IS THE BIGGEST IN THE NORTHEAST. BUT FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE BAAG COURSE, TIME IS A SCARCE COMMODITY AND AS SUCH, THE CHANCES OF ATTENDING THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT THAT HIGH. ALSO, THERE ARE VARIOUS CLUBS OPERATING, SUCH AS THE FOOTBALL CLUB, THE BODYBUILDING CLUB, CRICKET,KHOKHO,FUTSAL,HANDBALL,BADMINTION,BASKETBALL,VOLLEYBALL CLUB, MUSIC AND DANCE CLUB,HORSE RDING AMONG OTHERS. THERE IS ALSO A NCC GROUP PRESENT.

Hostel Facilities

4

ROOMS ARE NORMAL HOSTEL ROOMS PROVIDED WITH A BED AND AN ALMIRAH. FANS AND LIGHTING IS GOOD. SOME HOSTEL ROOMS HAVE ATTACHED BATHROOM. THE MEALS ARE WELL COOKED AND A SPECIFIC MENU IS FOLLOWED FOR BREAKFAST,LUNCH, EVENING TEA AND DINNER. THE AVAILABILITY OF HOSTELS IS AN ISSUE AS IT IS VERY MUCH IN DEMAND. BUT IT IS PROVIDED DURING THE ADMISSION PROCESS ITSELF.

Admission

I APPLIED TO VARIOUS UNIVERSISITES AND COLLEGES DURING THE COVID PERIOD. I WAS ALSO SELECTED FOR ADMISSION INTO THE DELHI UNIVERSITY FOR ECO-STAT MATHEMATICS, ALONGWITH SECURING A SEAT IN TEZPUR UNIVERSITY FOR AN INTEGRATED DEGREE IN ENGLISH. BUT ULTIMATELY I CHOSE USTM BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE HOUSE AND THEY HAD CONDUCTED ILINE ADMISSION TEST WHICH I CLEARED. THE ADMISSION PROCESS AND DOCUMENT VERIFICATION WAS ALSO CONDUCTED ONLINE AND AFTER LOCKDOWN WAS LIFTED, OFFLINE VERFICATION WAS ALSO DONE. THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION IS A MUST FOR THE BAAG COURSE, AND IF STUDENTS FAILED TO CRACK IT, THEY HAD TO FACE AN INTERVIEW IN EXTRA ORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES TO BE SELECTED.

Faculty

5

faculty to student ratio is very good. 1:15 , 1:22. since i was in BA ADMINISTRATION AND GOVERNANCE, the faculties were really very helpful and were always available to us round the clock. no matter whatever doubts we had, they were always present. the best faculty ws our HOD, Mr.Pradyumna Phukan sir. He is just briliant. no such teachers as to dislike as all were very much friendly. EXAM PATTERN :- we were always engrossedin giving regular exams. we have 2 sessionals, presentations and projects, and finally the end sem examination. the examination is upto the standard, with passing rate of around 90%. the course curriculum is very much relevant as we need to constantly be on the loop for news and happenings in our society. being a course for UPSC and state PCS, current affairs is given paramount importance in all formats of examinations.

Night Life

3

GYM IS PRSENT WHICH OPENS AT 4PM TO 7PM FROM MONDAY TO SATURDAY. VARIOUS CAFES ARE PRESENT WITHIN THE CAMPUS. THE LIBRARY IS OPEN FOR STUDENTS TILL 11PM EVERYDAY. THE LOCALITY IS SAFE TO GO FOR WALKING.

The course is quite vast. But it only consisted of three subjects for my batch before NEP. We only have Western music, Hindustani classical music and regional music. But courses with NEP has a lot. And not just focuses on music but extras too.

I would rate an 8 because curriculum is essential to guide teachers in what to teach, how much depth of knowledge is needed for the grade and a timeline to follow so the syllabus will be completed. Curriculum needs to focus on what you can do with information

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course psychology itself is a mind blowing. While studying the course I was able to know the details regarding problem-solving, attention seeking, decision making, concrete thinking ans so on. As the curriculum is more theoretical, the real world application is extremely limited. The only exposure we get is at our internship programs. Other than that we are limited to our classrooms. The exams lasts about half to three-fourth a month and there are 1-2 days gaps between each exam so the student can make some last minute preparations.

Students take admission so as to get good placements. However, this college doesn't really have that option and so it needs to improve in that aspect as it'll ultimately give name to the college and also its alumnis.
