Remarks

Overall the college is cost efficient with average number of students performing good. The college may not provide the extra exposure some people looking for but for a simple graduation in commerce or arts this college is the best option available to the east zone. With expenses being feasible and academics being decent this college still stands up to its name even after 70years.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Being form accountancy honors our curriculum is very versatile. With subjects like economics, business ethics and maths being taught in different semester. Accounts being the core subject , the curriculum deals with a lot of accounting subjects such as cost accountancy, corporate accountancy etc. The faculty is very good with teachers being open and friendly to students. The college follows the CBCS System i.e the choice based credit system, where a student have to earn credits by passing in the subjects of particular semester.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college has a placement cell where students can apply for internship. It is necessary for BBA and vocational studies department to do an internship but not for other departments. Most of the jobs are unpaid but paid internship goes up to 6-7k per month of stipend.

Placement Experience

2

The college lacks a good placement cell and hence the companies which come to the college for jobs have mostly BPO profiles. Highest salary being offer of 3.5 lac CTC and lowest being 1.44lac CTC per year. The companies which come every year are Wipro, Infosys, Godrej, TCS, etc

College Events

3

Following the je-suit society every Christian festival is celebrated with Christmas being the most beautiful of it all. The college also organizes it's own fest called the Xavier Utsav. The fest takes places in the month of February for 3consecutive days. Prior that annual day, convocation day and sports day are celebrate in the same month. The fest includes different competitions and sports events in which any student can participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

One of the most alluring fact of Xavier's Ranchi is the fee structure. Although it varies upon the course opted. The fee for 3years is between 70000 to 350000. The college provides a wide range of options for commerce and arts students. With accountancy honors having the most seats i.e 1000 The college provides boys hostel with a minimum fee of RS. 6000 per year which is extremely feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides scholarship to reserved category students only and that too whose family income is below 1lac a year. The college fee is extremely feasible so most of the students do not apply for loan although an extension to students with fragile financial situations is given for fee payment. Private banks provide loans for this college easily as it is amongst one of the most reputed colleges in the east zone of India.

Campus Life

3.5

The college fest is the time of the year where students get to portray their extra curricular activities. The focuses on sports mainly with tournaments taking place all over the year. Some of the sports include cricket, hockey, football, volleyball and basketball, with matches for both boys and girls. During the college fest different track and field events takes place such as high jump, long jump, javlin through, etc

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The college only provides for boys hostel with three blocks allotted to each arts, commerce and science students respectively. The fee is 6000/ year which is extremely feasible. The college canteen caters to the hostel. The accommodation and food is not that great and I hear the students mostly complaining about it. There is no proper bathroom facilities in some of the blocks as well making it difficult for the students to survive.

Alumni/Alumna

The overall alumni base is not so strong with almost no eminent personalities. The mass communication department although has a strong bas with reporters such as Anjana Kashyap being an alumni. There isn't any face to face interaction between the alumni and the current students although the alumni helps the college financially through genuine donations.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is divided into 6semesters. Each semester have 4minimum and 5maximum subjects. Each semester have new subjects and no subject is repeated in any semester. The CBCS curriculum is based upon credits so each subject carries credits a student has to earn by passing the subject with 45 marks being the minimum requirement out of 100 in order to pass. The subjects are categoried as core, generic and AECC. With core and generic subjects having 6credits and AECC having 2. Each semester has mid-semesters and final exams with the marks distribution being 25+5+70=100 25 being the mid-semesters marks 5marks for attendance (75% criteria) 70 final semester marks. A student has to obtain 45marks out of 100 in each subject to pass. Any paper backs due to shortage of marks or attendance can be settled within 2years of the program. Failure in any paper in the final year of graduation would result into year back. There are a total of 141 credits to be allotted to each students to graduate successfully in the program. 140 being the academic credits and 1 for a non-academic social work every student must accomplish.

Admission

As soon as the class 12th board results were out, Xavier's released it's forms both online and offline. Students could fill up multiple programs via single registration. Each program costed from Rs700-1000. Entrance exams were taken and after a week the shortlisted candidates lists were released. Accountancy honors having the maximum seats had 4lists. The first two lists included the morning batches and the next two the evening batch. Time and date for admission was allotted to us and documents to be presented were specified. On the day of admission there was 3tier criteria being followed: 1. Document verification 2. Fee payment 3. Photographs session for ID and handing over temporary ID. Once all the three stages were cleared you get an admission

Faculty

3.5

The faculty of the college is mixed with both good and bad teachers. Most of the faculty is PhD with thorough knowledge about the subject matter. They are not strict but student friendly and guide students well not only on subjects but on life as well. Proper notes are provided with details about each topic and even explained in classrooms with day to day examples

Placement Experience:

Students from semester 3 are eligible to sit for campus placement. There are even some companies which ask for fresher where student of any semester can apply. The specialised course like CA CS MBA has more placement opportunities. Many companies visits like GARNIER, TCS, GOVERMENT COMPANY _JHALSA. recently around 20 Students are selected in TCS with pacakage of INR 3Lakhs . There is no percentage requirements. Every particular can sit for campus placements. It depends on their skill and ability to impress the interviewers so that they can be placed. Basically there is Group discussion(GD) round and personal interview (PI)round which after qualifying one can get placed in the companies.
