- few faculties are super nice and helpful also very supportive, even the hostel staffs are very nice.
- crowd is pretty good not too studious but still very nice and helpful guys.
- facilities like free bus ride for hostellers is my most liked part of this college which takes us to a few nearby cities or landmarks.
Dislikes
- The drinking water here is very bad even with purifiers and all it still feels hard to drink.
- The mess food is pretty decent to average, also one can only choose one from menu either veg or non-veg which sucks.
- its is a bit secluded and there is barely any restaurant or any hotels nearby to dine in.
Course Curriculum Overview
Personally i am very much intrested in computers and all sorts of machine which influenced me to opt for CSE. As i am in first year i cannot say much about the real world applications, but we definetly get to learn many things like C programming, subjects like eclectrical/electronics along with maths as its essential. As for improvements the study can be a bit more practical and modern according to me. the mid sems were for 25 makrs which we were given 1.5 hrs. to complete it and the semester was for 50 marks which the time limit was 2.5 hrs also papers are moderately difficult
Internships Opportunities
Intership options are very decent if you are active. It has links with many IT firms like Infosys, TCS, Capgemini and cognizant. About projects it is mainy coding, Iot and AI. Overall students do find good, CV- worthy interships here but mostly you have to find a intership yourself as there is very slim chance of getting a intership with a stipend.
Placement Experience
I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.
Fees and Financial Aid
my fees for the academics in 90000rs per semester which is 180000rs per year for 2 semesters also there is separate examination fees of 3000rs per semester, other than this as a hosteller my hostel fee is 40K for a year and mess fees is 4500rs per month. One can apply many scholarships our uni staffs encourage us to take the scholarships
Campus Life
There are very few annual or technical fests which our college hosts like till date i have attended only one which was SANKALP technical tech fest which typically happens in november month. There are 2-3 librarys in my uni which consists of all sorts of books mostly it is about academics. Our college also hosts sports event which they call it 'kurukshetra' which is help typically in january which has many sports for one to compete in. In total there are 22 clubs in our uni from technical to non-technical, music, code, robotics, photography,etc and more different types of club are there which is runy by our seniors. NIST has its own website for students to login and see thier details, marks, fees,etc. which is super convenient to use and access.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel life at nist is typical engineering college hostel. rooms and basic facilities are decent, safety, wifi is plus point for it . the main complaint is about mess taste and crowding. Affordability is moderate for a private university, and you can choose between hostel and city PG depending on your budget and freedom needs.
Admission
As i didn't score much in my entrance exams I had to opt for tier 2-3 colleges from which as i am from odisha and many of my realtives and friends suggested NIST University. I did apply many other colleges manually and got offers but as NIST was close to my native place i chose this over others. I got 65%ile in JEE mains so my admission was done directly if not one has to give NISTEE exam which our University holds is for direct admissions.
Faculty
Many faculties are very helpful and supportive. Few teachers have very close relation with the students. The student facullties ratio in our uni is very good actually like 2-3 sections have same teachers and rest 2-3 have other so the ratio is good. Many faculties were considerate and kind i dont want to disclose their names. Few faculties i didn't like because of miscommunication like few have some distinct accents which i hard to understand sometimes. As for the examination there is 2 semester per year which is 8 semester in 4 four years of total also there is mid-sem exams which happens before 1-2 months of every semester. I personally find the difficulty is moderate not too hard or not too easy papers either. About relevancy of the curriculum its the same like of every other engineering college
Night Life
Nightlife at NIST is more lowkey and chilll and is more towards the campus centric more than the party type. The gyms and all other facilites closes at 7pm and no one is allowed to outside campus after 10pm There is abit famous place like rock garden or hyde park were a few seniors are usually found chilling. About safety concerns it is absolutely safe at both day and night without any fear college is filled with night lights all over leaving no shady area at night.
