SOP Sample for Masters in International Business
Since I was young, I witnessed my father’s consultancy firm assisting numerous clients with their business issues. At home, my father would have discussions and meetings to address various problems and strategize solutions. Over time, my interest evolved from simply observing to actively contributing innovative ideas. This motivated me to know the whereabouts of the business networks which further encouraged me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in International Business at JDB School, New Delhi.
During my undergraduate studies, I got the opportunity to study a wide variety of business-related subjects, including Global Business Management, Fundamentals of Marketing, International Institutions and Trade Implications, and Entrepreneurship Development. Through these courses, I developed a strong base in financial management, analytical thinking, and critical reasoning skills. I also participated in the All India Innovation Competition focusing on innovative ideas in international business, along with three other candidates. We were among the top 5 teams at the end of the competition.
After graduation, I got placed into Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as an international Marketing Manager where I assisted in making strong international business relations for the firm. Moreover, I was responsible for maintaining foreign marketing relations with the company. I worked at TCS for almost 2 years and gained industrial exposure and professional experience, and left the firm with high self-esteem. This experience offered me valuable insights into the practical aspects of applying marketing principles and the complexities of the business firm. It also strengthened my resolve to pursue further education and specialisation in international business, as I witnessed firsthand the profound impact that skilled business analysts and marketing experts can have on individuals and society as a whole.
As my career progressed, I realised that I need to take on more responsibility and challenging roles in this field in order to achieve my goals. In the short term, my goal is to pursue a career in global strategic management, where I can work on complex business issues that have a global impact. It now covers a broad range of areas, including cross-cultural management, global operations, global innovations, and global trends, among others. I am particularly interested in exploring the intersection of global financial management and global human resource management. My long-term goal is to collaborate with my father and actively contribute to the growth and success of our business firm, striving to position it as one of the top business firms in India. With the solid theoretical foundation, practical skills, and international perspective gained from the JDB School, I am confident in my ability to make a meaningful contribution to the field and effect positive change. Engaging in advanced studies in international financial management and marketing fields will also provide excellent preparation for diverse career paths.
