Visa Requirements for International Students

  • The first-hand contact assists the student on the arrangements before and upon arrival at the university.
  • Students from Non-EU countries require a visa to enter Sweden. Visa applications are to be made to a Swedish embassy located in the home country of the student. In places where there is no Swedish embassy, applications can be made to the embassy of another Schengen country, who will then issue the visa on Sweden’s behalf.
  • Students need to produce the enrolment letter issued by the university clearly stating the duration of the course and the proof that the first installment fees are paid in full.
  • For researchers, who usually need to stay for a period longer than 3 months in Sweden, will need to procure a residence permit issued in their native country.
  • Proof of financial backing is required for visa approval.
