These faculties are further divided into 38 departments. The University has a total enrollment of 49,150 students.

Some points to be kept in mind while applying to the University of Gothenburg are listed below:

  • The University offers two admission rounds for its applicants.
  • Autumn is the primary intake session for students as most programs only start in Autumn.
  • All international applicants are advised to apply in the first round of the application process. This round continues from October 16 to January 15.
  • The decisions for the second round are released just a few days before the commencement which makes it unsuitable for international applicants who have to adhere to visa procedure, arrange accommodation, etc.
  • Documents required for admission must be submitted with official translation in Swedish or English if it is not issued in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or English.
  • International applicants do not require Swedish language proficiency as programs are offered in English.

COVID-19 Admission Updates

  • The University of Gothenburg is working to slow the spread of COVID-19 infections. Although the government has withdrawn the recommendation on remote studies, the return to campus this autumn will be limited.
  • For international students, the new decision states that international programs and courses, as well as courses for incoming exchange students, are planned to be given on campus during the autumn, with a blend of digital components.
  • For those international students who are unable to travel to Sweden due to travel restrictions in their home countries, digital studies will be provided.
  • Applications for deferment are assessed individually and are always based on the reason for the application (e.g. closed borders, illness or restrictions travel or other reasons due to the pandemic). A deferral due to the Covid-19 pandemic is not automatically valid.
