In the intake of 2018-19, a total of 24,695 students were enrolled at the university. The university has over 1489 administrative staff members working towards providing excellent education. Queen’s currently has over 2,600 international students from 85 different countries to study in the UK.

    Queen’s University Belfast Programs are offered in various disciplines. It has invested over 50m GBP in the McClay Library blending the best features with the latest technology for their students. Furthermore, the institute also offers pre-sessional English programs. The institute has a student-faculty ratio of 17:1 ensuring every student gets sufficient support.

    • Queen's University Belfast opens applications for autumn, spring, or summer session.
    • The university will commence teaching as planned on 21 September 2020 for undergraduate programs and some graduate programs.
    • 10% reduction will be given to two new international students beginning a full-time course in the academic year 2020-21 having an unconditional offer by 15 September 2020.
    • INTO Queen’s is offering 8 weeks and 12-week Pre-Sessional English programs, both of which are delivered online this year. Pre-Sessional English programs are accepted for programs starting both in September 2020 and also January 2021.
    • Applications for accommodation must be submitted before 1 August.
    • Students who are not able to get language proofs can still apply and may receive a conditional offer letter.

    Queen’s University Belfast International Student Admissions

    Queen University Belfast offers its courses for students worldwide after fulfilling the eligibility criterion and required documentation. Programs are offered in study areas such as engineering, law, science, arts, etc.

    For Indian applicant - The standard Indian (10+2) examinations from CBSE, CISCE or State boards of Higher Secondary School certificates awarded by the central boards or state boards or equivalent with 75% or Higher where subject required are stipulated are acceptable.

    If the applicant has taken the exams like JEE Main or Advanced, the results may be considered in addition to the standard 12th results. A good percentage in JEE subjects will be considered if the performance is the key subject in standard 12th is below the stated minimum requirements. In order to get JEE scores to be considered, applicants must achieve the normal standard 12th overall percentage with at least 60% in key subjects.

    English Proficiency Test Scores

    International applicants also need to provide English language requirements. The minimum required scores are as follows:

    For admission into most bachelor degree programs excluding Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, the University accepts 70% in English language in standard 12th instead of science IELTS academic, if the score is awarded by a recognized Indian examination board.

    Visa Process for International Students

    Students who wish to enter the UK for studying apply under Tier 4 (General) Student Visa. You will be provided CAS number, needed for visa application, by Queen's University once you have accepted an unconditional offer for your course. The institute will send you a document called a 'CAS Statement'. The CAS statement will include all the important information about your CAS and your program of study.

    The official letter confirms the offer of a place to undertake admission. The student may need to pay a deposit to secure a place in the course. For immigration or visa purposes, the applicant may need to obtain a minimum score of the English proficiency exam like TOEFL or IELTS. The student must reply about acceptance or declining of the offer on portal within 14 days.

    The complete enrollment and registering as a student at Queen's will be completed after the applicant arrive at the University with original documentary evidence. For the courses offered at Queen's University Belfast on campus mode, the applicants must make the application prior to the deadline. It may take a few weeks for the successful processing of the application and arrival offer letter. The admission letter will guide the student about the further procedures and requirements.

    Ans. The university does offer PhD courses. The applicants who are interested in this course need to have good grades in the bachelor and master’s degree programs awarded by recognized University in addition to a strong research proposal.

    Ques. Does the university offer any financial aid to international applicants?

    Ans. Scholarships for international students range from full tuition fee payments, 20% fee reductions for returning students, and 10% reductions for students that pay fees early and academic attainment scholarships. Queen's University Belfast offers a total of 20 scholarships for well qualified Indian students. Applicants must check the scholarship section while applying.

    Ques. Are original transcripts required for the admission process?

    Ans. The applicants are required to upload a copy of official transcripts for the completed programs as well as those which are currently in progress. Degree award certificates already completed should also be provided. A copy of the grading scale which is usually provided on the back of the transcript should also be provided. It is important to note that the students must submit original documentary evidence of their qualifications for registration at the University.

    Ans. The institute starts reviewing the application immediately and looks forward to giving results in two weeks only.

Ans if you decline the offer you won’t be able to negotiate with other institutions under the UCAS system. After accepting the offer, applicants will receive a welcome guide by email, where information about enrolment and registration will be included.

    Ques.  There is no decision made on the application. What to do?

    Ans. It takes time to process all the applications. But the university aims to finalize all the decisions by a specific date. Depending on the number of successful applicants and the number of vacancies, students may get an admission decision later.

    Ques.  What are the minimum requirements of English proficiency tests?[vi]

    Ans. The scores needed in English proficiency tests are-

    • TOEFL IBT- 90 with a minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, 17 in writing.
    • IELTS Academic- 6.5 with 5.5 with all four elements
    • CAE- 176 overall
