Cardiff University admission for 2020 session opens in the month of September 2019. International students who want to study in the various programs offered by Cardiff University can apply through UCAS website until January 15, 2020(except Medicine and Dentistry). The University will accept an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent for admission to most of its program.

Cardiff University Admission Deadline

The full-time academic session for the majority of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Cardiff University begins in the month of September. Currently, the admission process for September 2020 is ongoing.

International students who want to study at Cardiff University are advised not to wait until the day of the deadline to submit their application and apply as early as possible. The complete admission application along with all the supporting documents must be submitted before the deadline.

Cardiff University English Language Requirements

All the international applicants who require a Tier 4 Visa to study in the UK are required to meet the English Language Proficiency criteria set by Cardiff University. The University accepts a variety of English language qualifications for entry.

The minimum requirement for English is grade C/4 at GCSE or IELTS (Academic) with 6.5 overall and a minimum of 5.5 in each of the components. The admission requirement for some of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses may vary as per the course.

Cardiff University International Student Undergraduate Admission

Cardiff University is divided into three colleges which offer more than 300 undergraduate courses. The most popular undergraduate programs among International students are Engineering, Management, Medicine, Dentistry, Science, and Music.

Application portal for the undergraduate courses for 2020 session opened on September 1, 2019, and application for Medicine and Dental courses will close on October 15, 2019.

General Requirements:

  • Candidates must submit a UCAS application for admission to UG courses at Cardiff.
  • A personal statement explaining the subject interest(s).

Immigration & Visa Requirements

In order to study in the UK, International students coming from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland for more than 6 months are required to obtain a Tier 4 student visa. International students are required to apply for their student visa in the UK for at least 3 months before the starting date of their course.

  • The date of the application should be the same as the day of paying the visa application fee.
  • Applicants can apply for their Tier 4 student visa in their respective country of residence.
  • All International students will have to apply online and pay the application fee of 348 GBP plus health surcharge.

The admission decision for the undergraduate program will be announced before the end of January. If an applicant is offered a place, he/she will be informed by the Cardiff University through email and through the UCAS portal. The applicant for the postgraduate programs at Cardiff University will be strictly based solely on academic criteria, i.e. the candidate’s ability and potential.

International applicants will need to satisfy the assigned Admissions Tutor that he/she has met or will meet, the necessary academic and non-academic criteria required for the program of study to get admission to the Cardiff University.
