University of the West of Scotland Admission Deadlines

Admission deadlines for various programs offered by the university vary. Also, deadlines for various courses may vary depending upon the start date of the particular program.

  • The application for undergraduate and postgraduate courses must be made during the month of August. The application process continues until the start date of the particular course.
  • Overseas students are granted admission until there are 6 weeks left for the commencement of the particular course.
  • Admissions to research degree programs are offered by the university on a rolling basis.

University of the West of Scotland International Admissions

The university is home to international students coming from more than 70 countries. Along with the basic requirements for admission to international students, the university also states various country specific requirements as per the belongingness of the applicant. The university currently has more than 3000 international students from various countries.

Admission Requirements for International Applicants

  • English language requirements
  • Country-specific requirements. Some of the country-specific requirements are mentioned below:
    • Indian applicants must have an average score of 60% in All India Senior Secondary School Examination for UG admissions. Applicants for PG programs must have an average of 60% in Bachelor’s degree.
    • Chinese applicants must have Huikao with an average of 80% for UG admissions.
    • Japanese applicants must have Secondary school leaving certificate with grades between 3-A.

The university provides exceptions with respect to the requirement of the IELTS score in various courses. The exception cases for the same are as follows:

  • For the research degrees, an overall IELTS score of 6.5 is required where no component must be below 6.0.
  • For Health, Nursing & Midwifery courses a score of 7.0 is required where there must be a minimum of 7.0 in all the components.
  • For our Certificate of Higher Education courses, a minimum IELTS score of 5.0 is required with a minimum of 4.5 in all the components.

Note – The university also provides pre sessional English courses to the students so that they are able to fulfill the language criteria required by the university.

Visa Requirements

An applicant must acquire a tier 4 student visa. The following documents are required to acquire the visa.

  • Details of passport
  • Recent photographs
  • An unconditional offer of a place on the course offered
  • Evidence of Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
  • For Tier 4, aspirants must have 40 points:
    • 30 points - A valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a Tier 4 sponsor
    • 10 points - Enough money for college tuition, application fee, and living costs.
  • Applying for visa costs around 348 Pounds.
  • The applicants must apply for a visa at least 3 months prior to the start of course.
  • Applicants must provide the following documents when applying for the visa:
  • Passport and travel documentation
  • Financial support proof
  • A tuberculosis test result.

University of the West of Scotland Undergraduate Admissions

University of the West of Scotland offers more than 60 undergraduate courses within its various campuses for the domestic as well as international students. Some of the popular undergraduate courses offered by the university are accounting, nursing, broadcast and production, honors courses, chemical engineering, computer animation etc.

Students must make sure they have a commendable level of literacy. They must hold passes in English as well as Math at the following level:

  • Scottish National 5 ( Grades A,B or C)
  • Scottish Standard Grade (Grades – 1, 2 or 3)
  • Scottish Intermediate 2 (Grades A, B or C)
  • GCSE (Grades A,B or C)
  • Irish Leaving Certificate Ordinary Level (a minimum of grade C2)

Note – Advanced Entry to the candidates having a combination of higher and advanced higher/ AS level and A level or equivalent qualification is granted by the university where candidates get entry into year 2 or 3. International students must make sure they have a qualification equivalent to the above mentioned in order to get admission to the university.

University of the West of Scotland Graduate Admissions

Graduate students may be required to present high school passes in English and Maths. Applicants must fulfill the admission requirements for the course they are applying for as the requirements vary depending upon the choice of the courses. GRE/GMAT score requirement is optional to the university.
