University of West London Scholarships for UG Students
UWL runs 4 funding routes for international undergraduate applicants in 2026-27. The largest cash stack combines the Tuition Fee Bursary, the Ambassador award, and the Early Settlement Discount. Together they cut £6,500 (INR 8.32 Lakhs) off first-year fees.
Two of these funding routes need action from you:
- Ambassador award: needs a separate form filed after your offer arrives
- Tuition Fee Bursary: needs a £10,000 (INR 12.80 Lakhs) upfront payment to activate
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | How to Apply | Deadline (Sept 2026 Intake) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| International Ambassador Scholarship | £1,000 (INR 1.28 Lakhs) first-year tuition discount |
Self-funded international UG offer holders willing to serve as student ambassadors | Separate application form via UWL scholarships portal once your offer arrives | Tentative 3 July 2026 |
| International Tuition Fee Bursary | £5,000 (INR 6.40 Lakhs) discount on first-year fees |
International UG students making a £10,000 (INR 12.80 Lakhs) upfront tuition payment | Automatically applied on the invoice once the upfront payment clears | On or before enrolment |
| Early Settlement Discount | £500 (INR 64,000) discount |
Students paying full annual tuition by the stated enrolment date | Applied automatically after the full payment clears | By the enrolment date |
| Sunil Pranlal Sheth Law Scholarship | £5,000 (INR 6.40 Lakhs) award |
UG applicants to the School of Law, Home and International | School of Law merit review by the selection committee | Tentative July 2026 |
University of West London Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students
Master’s applicants can combine three awards for a first-year cut of £6,500 (INR 8.32 Lakhs). For a £20,535 MSc in Data Science, that brings net first-year outlay to £14,035 (INR 17.96 Lakhs). UWL policy caps direct awards at one per student. The Bursary and Early Settlement stack around the Ambassador award as fee reductions.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | How to Apply | Deadline (Sept 2026 Intake) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| International Ambassador Scholarship | £1,000 (INR 1.28 Lakhs) first-year tuition discount | Self-funded international PG offer holders with an ambassador-fit statement | Separate form via the UWL scholarships portal after offer | Tentative 3 July 2026 |
| International Tuition Fee Bursary | £5,000 (INR 6.40 Lakhs) tuition discount | International PG students paying £10,000 (INR 12.80 Lakhs) upfront tuition | Automatic once the upfront payment lands | On or before enrolment |
| Early Settlement Discount | £500 (INR 64,000) discount | Full annual tuition settled by enrolment date; not for courses under 30 weeks | Automatic on full payment | By the enrolment date |
| Alumni Bursary (Taught PG) | £2,000 (INR 2.56 Lakhs) for 2026 UWL graduates; £1,000 (INR 1.28 Lakhs) for earlier UWL graduates | Holders of a UWL undergraduate degree obtained within the past 10 years | Applied automatically at enrolment | At enrolment |
| Sunil Pranlal Sheth Law Scholarship | £5,000 (INR 6.40 Lakhs) award | PG applicants to the School of Law, Home and International | School of Law selection committee, merit-based | Tentative July 2026 |
Reddit Insight: Indian PG applicants report that the £5,000 Tuition Fee Bursary only fires after the £10,000 upfront wire lands with UWL Finance. Wires that arrive after the enrolment date forfeit the discount, so plan the transfer 10 to 14 days ahead.
India-Specific Scholarships at University of West London
UWL does not run an India-only scholarship pool. Indian applicants access the same international awards as other overseas students, plus one alumnus-endowed award funded by an Indian benefactor.
| Item | Value | Why It Matters for Indian Applicants | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunil Pranlal Sheth Scholarship | £5,000 (INR 6.40 Lakhs) | Endowed by Indian UWL alumnus Sunil Sheth, a 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient | School of Law UG or PG applicants, merit-based; single winner per year |
| English Language Test Waiver | Saves the IELTS or PTE test fee (roughly INR 15,000 to INR 17,000) | Class XII English at 70% from CBSE, ICSE, IB, or recognised State boards qualifies | Cost saver rather than a scholarship; requested during the UWLApply application |
The practical India-specific stack looks like this. A self-funded MSc applicant from Delhi typically pairs the £5,000 Tuition Fee Bursary with the £1,000 Ambassador award and £500 Early Settlement. Combined with the English waiver, the effective first-year saving reaches around INR 8.47 Lakhs.
Law applicants have one extra lever. Indian LLM or LLB applicants should submit a merit-focused statement to the UWL School of Law. That statement is reviewed for the Sunil Pranlal Sheth award. Combined with the £5,000 Bursary, the effective cut reaches £10,000 (INR 12.80 Lakhs) in year one.

University of West London External Government Scholarships
Chevening and Commonwealth are the two viable UK-government routes for Indian applicants headed to UWL. Both fund a one-year Master’s fully, so they replace the UWL scholarship stack rather than stacking with it. UWL is not currently confirmed on the British Council GREAT Scholarships partner list for India. Verify partner status on the British Council portal before planning around GREAT.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility for Indian Applicants | Deadline (2027-28 Cycle) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chevening Scholarship (UK Government) | Full tuition, London stipend £1,781 (INR 2.28 Lakhs) per month, return travel, thesis grant | Indian citizen with a Bachelor’s plus at least 2 years’ work experience; applying to a one-year taught Master’s | 4 August to 6 October 2026 (2027-28 cycle) |
| Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship | Full tuition, London stipend £1,781 (INR 2.28 Lakhs) per month, return airfare | Indian citizen, First or Upper Second Bachelor’s (60%+); aligned to one of six CSC development themes; MBA is not funded | Tentative mid-October 2026 (2027-28) |
Reddit Insight: Only 100 to 110 Chevening awards go to Indian applicants each year against 1,000+ applications, giving an acceptance rate near 10%. Indian students commonly treat Chevening as a stretch and hold the UWL Tuition Fee Bursary as the working plan.

University of West London Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. What is the maximum scholarship stack an Indian student can get at University of West London?
Ans. Indian self-funded Master’s applicants can combine the £5,000 International Tuition Fee Bursary, the £1,000 International Ambassador Scholarship, and the £500 Early Settlement Discount. That stack takes £6,500 (INR 8.32 Lakhs) off first-year tuition. PhD candidates access a full tuition waiver plus £18,622 (INR 23.84 Lakhs) yearly stipend through the Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarship. The full package is worth over £73,000 (INR 93.44 Lakhs) across three years.
Ques. When should Indian applicants submit UWL scholarship applications for the September 2026 intake?
Ans. File the International Ambassador Scholarship form by tentative 3 July 2026 after confirming your UWLApply offer. Send the £10,000 upfront tuition wire 10 to 14 days before enrolment to secure the £5,000 Bursary. Settle full annual tuition by the enrolment date to trigger the Early Settlement Discount.
Ques. Do UWL international scholarships need a separate application form?
Ans. The International Ambassador Scholarship needs a separate form filed through the UWL scholarships portal after your offer arrives. The Tuition Fee Bursary, Early Settlement Discount, and PG Alumni Bursary apply automatically on qualifying payments or enrolment. The Sunil Pranlal Sheth Law Scholarship uses a School of Law merit review rather than an open application.
Ques. What grade do Indian applicants need to secure the Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarship at University of West London?
Ans. Applicants need a First or Upper Second (2:1) undergraduate degree plus a Merit-graded Master’s for PhD entry. UWL prioritises research aligned with its strategic themes, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Tick "Scholarship funding" on the PhD application and name the Vice-Chancellor’s award in your personal statement.
Ques. Does the £5,000 UWL Tuition Fee Bursary cover living costs in London?
Ans. No. The bursary and Early Settlement Discount reduce tuition only, not rent, food, or travel. Living costs near the Ealing and Brentford campuses average £1,200 to £1,400 (INR 1.54 to INR 1.79 Lakhs) per month. Indian students typically budget INR 18 to INR 22 Lakhs for annual living costs on top of tuition.
Ques. Is the Sunil Pranlal Sheth Scholarship at University of West London only for Indian Law students?
Ans. The award is open to Home and International Law students, but its origin makes it a strong fit for Indian applicants. It was endowed by Indian UWL alumnus Sunil Sheth, recipient of the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award. The single yearly winner receives £5,000 (INR 6.40 Lakhs) toward School of Law UG or PG tuition.

- I really like the curriculum here for as everything is project oriented and that staff is highly qualified and you can have opportunity to work on real time projects in research lab. However, there's nothing which I disliked about my campus.
- Student accomodation was a bit expensive for me as it was around 1200 GBP per month but the facilities and exposure is great there. However, I was living in rental accomodation costs me 450 GBP as rent bills included and I found that on facebook marketplace.

- There is nothing to dislike about university of west London (Edinburgh University) .
- There's wasn't any margin of error in making reports as because some of the students earlier used to take notes and give to their professor so they made a rule that if you cheat plagiarism will be checked on the basis of plagiarism marks will be given to the candidates enrolled in UWl program

Dislikes
- The course curriculum and project structure of the program, while reflective of academic rigor, left me with a sense of dissatisfaction. The content, though comprehensive, lacked the dynamic engagement I anticipated. A notable improvement could be achieved through the incorporation of additional activities and presentations to enhance interactivity.
- The curriculum, while solid in its theoretical foundation, seemed to miss opportunities for practical application. Integrating more hands-on projects or real-world case studies would have provided a bridge between theory and practice, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
- Moreover, a deficiency in interactive elements, such as group activities or presentations, hindered the development of essential soft skills and collaborative abilities. These elements not only add variety to the learning experience but also contribute significantly to the development of critical skills applicable in professional settings.
The overall experience was good, the university was fine but the exposure that one gets whilst living alone and independently is beyond amazing,
