Master of Science [MSc] (Computer Science)
Field of Study:
$42,333 /Yr
University of Bath Computer Science Master of Science (MSc) is a one-year, full-time, on-campus postgraduate course at Claverton Down in Bath, England. Indian applicants need at least Second Division or 6.0 on a 10-point scale plus algebra and calculus evidence. September 2027 tuition is unpublished, while September 2026 tuition was GBP 30,900 (INR 39.60 Lakhs), as a prior-cycle reference.
The course converts a non-computing degree into practical and theoretical computer science through programming, software engineering, algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Its distinctive tradeoff is speed because the one-year format reaches a specialist project quickly, so applicants must already show quantitative preparation. It suits career changers with algebra, calculus and problem-solving evidence who want software, data or technology roles.
- A 30-credit specialist project lets students apply course learning to a focused computer science problem.
- Optional units include cybersecurity, data and cloud development, entrepreneurship and humans and intelligent machines.
- Initial partial accreditation from the British Computer Society can support professional positioning, with full accreditation to be confirmed after the first cohort graduates.
Current Admission Status
Applications for the September 2027 intake are Not Yet Open. International student deadline: Not yet published; 31 July 2026 is the prior-cycle reference.
Bath’s current official postgraduate list covers 2026 courses and the latest overseas deadline has passed. Indian applicants should prepare transcripts, grading scale, quantitative evidence and English proof for the next published cycle.

University of Bath Computer Science Fees and Living Costs 2027
September 2027 tuition is unpublished, because Bath has not released a target-cycle course page or fee table for this MSc. The latest official overseas tuition is shown only as a prior-cycle reference and cannot establish the 2027 amount.
Prior-cycle fee context: the table uses the latest official 2026/27 overseas fee for the full-time MSc and separates the deposit from other course-related costs. The deposit is deducted from tuition, while printing and textbook costs need separate budgeting.
| Fee item | GBP amount | INR equivalent | Payment or use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overseas tuition, 2026/27 | GBP 30,900 | INR 39.60 Lakhs | One-year full-time MSc, prior-cycle reference |
| Tuition deposit, latest course page | GBP 1,000 | INR 1.28 Lakhs | Non-refundable deposit after offer and deducted from tuition |
| Printing, photocopying and binding | At least GBP 100 | At least INR 12,816 | Separate course budget, with textbooks extra |
Source: University of Bath Faculty of Science taught postgraduate tuition fees and Computer Science MSc course guidance.
All INR conversions in the article use a conversion rate of GBP 1 = INR 128.16 as of 21 August 2026. Rates fluctuate daily, verify before applying.
- The unpublished 2027 fee means applicants should not use GBP 30,900 (INR 39.60 Lakhs) to set a final loan amount or remittance schedule.
- The GBP 1,000 deposit (INR 1.28 Lakhs) secures a place under the latest course guidance and is deducted from tuition after registration.
- The GBP 100 minimum (INR 12,816) covers printing, photocopying and binding only, so a laptop, textbooks, travel and personal costs remain separate.
Cost of Living in Bath for Computer Science Students
Bath estimates approximately GBP 1,600 per month for international student living costs. The university gives a combined estimate, so it should not be divided into invented rent, food or transport figures.
Official living-cost estimate: the table keeps Bath’s combined estimate separate from accommodation prices and the Student visa maintenance requirement.
| Expense | Monthly (GBP) | Monthly (INR) | Annual (GBP) | Annual (INR) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Combined international student living costs | GBP 1,600 | INR 2.05 Lakhs | GBP 19,200 | INR 24.61 Lakhs |
Multiplying GBP 1,600 by 12 gives GBP 19,200 (INR 24.61 Lakhs) for a full year. This annual figure is calculated from Bath’s monthly estimate, not separately published by the university.
A prior-cycle planning illustration adds GBP 30,900 tuition (INR 39.60 Lakhs) to GBP 19,200 living costs (INR 24.61 Lakhs). The resulting one-year total is GBP 50,100 (INR 64.21 Lakhs).
The calculated total excludes the visa fee, Immigration Health Surcharge, flights, accommodation deposits, laptop, textbooks and personal spending. Bath’s estimate is for living costs, while the visa maintenance amount is a separate financial-evidence threshold.
Target-cycle fee check
September 2027 tuition remains unpublished, so verify the target fee on the official fee page before accepting an offer.
Student perspective
A March 2025 review from an enrolled 2023 MSc Computer Science student described well-equipped facilities and recorded lectures. The same review reported accommodation about two miles from campus and rent of approximately GBP 800 per month (INR 1.03 Lakhs), including utilities. This individual observation is anecdotal, so use it to investigate housing location and availability through student reviews.
These comments are anecdotal and do not replace official University of Bath data.
ROI reality: The prior-cycle illustration reaches GBP 50,100 (INR 64.21 Lakhs) before visa and personal costs. Wait for the 2027 fee before finalising funding.
University of Bath Computer Science Admission 2027
Indian applicants need Second Division or 6.0 on a 10-point scale in a Bachelor degree for the latest official Computer Science MSc guidance. The degree can be in any subject, but the application must show relevant quantitative skills.
Algebra and calculus are specifically important because this is a fast conversion course into programming, algorithms and artificial intelligence. A previous Computer Science degree may be unsuitable when its content significantly overlaps with the MSc.
Academic Eligibility for Indian Applicants
The 2027 course page is not yet published, so the table records the latest official Indian qualification requirements from Bath’s current course page. Bath asks Indian applicants to upload their institutional grading scale with the transcript.
| Admission measure | Bath’s published requirement | Indian applicant action |
|---|---|---|
| Degree result | Bachelor degree with at least Second Division or 6.0 on a 10-point scale | Upload the transcript and the official grading scale used by your university |
| Degree discipline | Undergraduate degree in any subject | Show algebra, calculus or other quantitative study through modules or alternative evidence |
| Quantitative preparation | Relevant quantitative skills, especially algebra and calculus | Explain marks, projects or additional study that demonstrate mathematical readiness |
| Previous Computer Science study | The course may not suit applicants with significant content overlap | Explain the new skills the MSc adds beyond your existing curriculum |
Bath does not publish a separate percentage conversion for the Indian 6.0 threshold. The university makes the equivalency decision using the transcript, grading scale and academic context rather than a generic conversion.
The course page publishes no work-experience requirement, Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) minimum or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) minimum. GMAT and GRE are standardised tests used by some graduate programmes, but Bath does not list either as a requirement here.
- Applicants from commerce, economics, physics or another non-computing subject should identify algebra and calculus evidence before submitting the form.
- Applicants with a Computer Science degree should map the MSc units against prior study and explain the areas they still need to develop.
- Applicants whose transcript uses a non-standard scale should obtain the university’s grading explanation before the 2027 application window opens.
English Language Requirements
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) applicants need 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in every component under the latest Computer Science course requirement. IELTS measures listening, reading, writing and speaking, so every component threshold matters.
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) applicants need 62 overall with no element below 59. Bath does not accept the PTE Academic Online test for this postgraduate route.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) applicants must use the scale that matches their test date. TOEFL iBT means the Internet-based Test, and Bath now publishes separate rules before and after 21 January 2026.
| English route | Latest Bath minimum | Indian applicant action |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic or IELTS for UKVI | 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in each component | Meet the overall score and every component score |
| PTE Academic or PTE Academic UKVI | 62 overall with no less than 59 in each component | Use an accepted Academic or UKVI test, not PTE Academic Online |
| TOEFL iBT or Home Edition, tests from 21 January 2026 | 4.5 overall with no component under 4.0 | Report the revised 1.0 to 6.0 scale without self-conversion |
| TOEFL iBT or Home Edition, tests before 21 January 2026 | 90 overall with no less than 21 in any element | Use the older 0 to 120 score exactly as issued |
| Duolingo English Test, tests from 1 July 2024 | 120 overall, speaking 110, writing 110, reading 110 and listening 105 | Meet each published subscore as well as the overall score |
Bath requires the English qualification to be obtained within 24 months before the course start. The current postgraduate policy permits eligible Indian nationals to request an exemption, but the evidence conditions must be met.
- An Indian national may qualify for exemption after at least 12 months of degree-level study in India taught in English and graduation within five years of admission.
- The exemption requires an official medium-of-instruction document and Core English evidence from Indian 12th Standard examinations.
- For the IELTS 6.5 route, Bath lists 75% in CBSE, ISC or CISCE Core English and 80% in state-board Core English for the exemption comparison.

2027 requirements check
Verify the final 2027 requirements on the current official Computer Science MSc page when Bath publishes the new cycle.
Tip for Indian students: The 6.0 on 10 threshold is only the academic floor. Indian applicants also need credible algebra, calculus and English evidence because the MSc moves quickly into technical study.
University of Bath Computer Science Application 2027
September 2027 application dates are not yet published, and Bath has not released a decision schedule for this MSc. The latest official course page lists one September intake and gives 31 July 2026 as the overseas deadline, which is a tentative prior-cycle reference.
The 2027 application route should use Bath’s online postgraduate form when it opens. Because the course is one year, a complete application should connect quantitative preparation, programming evidence and a clear reason for choosing a conversion-style MSc.
Target-cycle Timing
Bath has not published a 2027 international deadline, application opening date or course-specific decision date. The latest official overseas deadline was 31 July 2026, with no submission time stated, so Indian applicants should not treat that date as a current opportunity.
Bath says it aims to decide applications within six weeks after receiving all supporting information. That is a general postgraduate service estimate, not a guaranteed Computer Science decision date for September 2027.
- Prepare the transcript, grading scale, English evidence and references while the 2027 course page remains unpublished.
- Submit soon after the 2027 form opens because Bath may close a course early when it becomes full.
- Keep the latest overseas deadline visible in your notes as a tentative planning anchor, then replace it when the target cycle is published.
Application Evidence
Bath’s postgraduate application asks for personal details, the intended start date, education history, English evidence when available, referee details, a personal statement and supporting information.
Indian applicants should use the statement to explain why the MSc adds value beyond their first degree. Bath also asks for degree documents, transcripts, an academic or professional reference and an up-to-date CV.
- Upload the final or latest transcript with the institutional grading scale so Bath can interpret the 6.0 on 10 requirement.
- Describe algebra, calculus, programming or analytical projects with the tools used and the result achieved.
- Ask an academic referee who can comment on quantitative readiness, independent learning and technical problem-solving.
- Provide passport details and authorised translations when documents are not in English, then track missing items through Bath’s application system.
A conditional offer may require final degree results, English scores, satisfactory references or the deposit. The latest course page states that the GBP 1,000 deposit (INR 1.28 Lakhs) is non-refundable and deducted from tuition, so confirm the 2027 conditions before paying.
Application tip: Treat 31 July 2026 as a tentative prior-cycle date only, and use the waiting period to build a complete quantitative evidence file for the September 2027 application.
University of Bath Computer Science Scholarships 2027
September 2027 Bath scholarship values and deadlines are unpublished, so the university awards below are planning references rather than confirmed target-cycle funding. Two external awards have published 2027/28 dates and can be relevant to Indian applicants who meet their separate conditions.
Bath Global Excellence and Bath Merit are tuition fee waivers, not living-cost awards. Chevening and Commonwealth funding can be broader, but their work, nomination or return-home conditions change the decision and should be checked before relying on them.
Cycle context: Bath rows refer to the September 2026 cycle, while Chevening and Commonwealth rows refer to 2027/28 external scholarship rounds.
| Scholarship | Cycle and status | Foreign value | INR equivalent | Eligibility and application route |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bath Global Excellence Scholarship | September 2026; applications closed | GBP 10,000 fee waiver | INR 12.82 Lakhs | International offer-holder on a full-time taught master’s in Science, Engineering and Design, or Humanities and Social Sciences; Application Tracker after an eligible offer |
| Bath Merit Scholarship | September 2026; current published prior-cycle award | GBP 5,000 fee waiver | INR 6.41 Lakhs | India is listed; full-time campus-based master’s offer-holder who studied the whole degree in India and meets the high 2:2 equivalent; automatic consideration |
| Chevening Scholarship | 2027/28; applications open | Full financial support; no fixed total published | No fixed amount published | Indian citizen with at least two years of post-undergraduate work experience; apply through Chevening by 6 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC, 16:30 IST |
| Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship | 2027/28; opens 8 September 2026 | Full approved tuition, airfare and GBP 1,712 monthly stipend | Full approved tuition, airfare and INR 2.19 Lakhs monthly stipend | India is eligible; first degree at upper second standard or lower second with relevant postgraduate study; apply through a nominator and CSC Central by 20 October 2026 at 16:00 BST, 20:30 IST |
Bath Global Excellence offers up to 250 awards in the latest cycle and requires an eligible offer before a scholarship form can be submitted. Its latest rounds closed on 4 February, 8 April and 12 June 2026, with decisions scheduled after each round.
Bath Merit requires no separate application under the latest rules, but it still depends on an eligible offer, overseas fee status and a whole degree studied in an eligible country. India is listed, yet the 2026 cycle conditions do not confirm a 2027 award.
Chevening provides full financial support for a one-year UK master’s and accepts Indian applicants with the required post-degree work experience. Commonwealth funding covers approved fees, airfare and maintenance, but the Commission uses nominating agencies and selection is not guaranteed.
- Apply for Bath awards only after checking that the 2027 course and scholarship pages name Computer Science and your overseas fee status.
- Use Chevening only if you can document two years of post-undergraduate work experience and meet its separate leadership and return conditions.
- Use Commonwealth funding only after checking the Indian nominator because the Commission does not accept direct applications for the agency-nominated route.
- Keep a self-funded plan because Bath’s target awards and the prior-cycle GBP 30,900 tuition (INR 39.60 Lakhs) are not confirmed for 2027.

Scholarship reality: The latest Bath awards could reduce tuition by GBP 5,000 to GBP 10,000 (INR 6.41 Lakhs to INR 12.82 Lakhs). Indian applicants need the 2027 award rules before treating any discount as available.
University of Bath Computer Science Salary 2027
Bath does not publish a course-specific employment report, offer rate or salary for the Computer Science MSc. The closest official evidence is the 2022/23 Graduate Outcomes data for UK-domiciled first-degree Computer Science graduates, so it is a proxy rather than an MSc result.
The university’s current department evidence names roles such as software developer, software engineer, data scientist and cybersecurity consultant. It also names employers including Google, Deloitte, Hewlett Packard and JP Morgan Chase, but these examples show possible destinations rather than typical MSc outcomes.
The published proxy is available on Bath’s official Computer Science Graduate Outcomes page. Its scope matters because the data excludes international MSc graduates from the reported cohort.
| Evidence scope | Published cohort | Outcome measure | Applicant meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Course-cohort evidence | University of Bath Computer Science MSc | Course-specific salary, offer rate and employment report not published | Do not treat a market salary or proxy outcome as an MSc placement result |
| School-level proxy | 2022/23 full-time UK-domiciled first-degree Computer Science graduates; 115 in cohort; 69% response | Graduate Outcomes survey at 15 months after Bath | Use only as background evidence and request MSc-specific data from Bath |
| School-level proxy | Same 2022/23 cohort | 76% work for an employer | Indicates a reported destination mix, not a probability for an Indian MSc applicant |
| School-level proxy | Same 2022/23 cohort | 6% further study, training or research; 1% self-employed | Shows more than one destination route without reporting postgraduate salary |
| School-level proxy | Same 2022/23 cohort | 12% unemployed; 5% other | Retains the published risk context instead of presenting only employment figures |
Source: University of Bath Graduate Outcomes 2022/23 for full-time UK-domiciled first-degree Computer Science graduates.
Bath’s course page also describes a research-led department, a 24-hour laboratory and practical software development. The curriculum’s specialist project can help a career changer build evidence, but the one-year schedule leaves limited time to repair missing mathematics or programming foundations.
ROI for Indian Applicants
The prior-cycle planning illustration is GBP 50,100 (INR 64.21 Lakhs) for tuition plus one year of Bath’s living estimate, before visa, travel and personal spending. September 2027 tuition is unpublished, so this is not a target-cycle total.
- The prior-cycle cost reaches GBP 50,100 (INR 64.21 Lakhs) before immigration and personal costs, so wait for the 2027 fee before fixing a loan or repayment plan.
- The 2022/23 proxy reports 76% working for an employer but no MSc salary, so request course-specific outcomes before using any graduate figure to justify the investment.
- The one-year course and 35 to 40 hour weekly study expectation can shorten the conversion path, so complete algebra, calculus and programming preparation before arrival.
- The Graduate Route offers 18 months for applications from 1 January 2027, so target eligible roles early and model the financial risk of a shorter UK job-search window.
- The published evidence gives no India-return salary, so compare actual Indian offers with the target-cycle cost rather than converting a UK proxy into repayment capacity.
Take-home pay varies with role, location, tax and pension deductions. Use an official UK tax calculator after receiving a confirmed offer instead of treating gross salary as disposable income.
ROI reality: Bath provides a Computer Science destination proxy but no MSc salary or offer rate. The GBP 50,100 prior-cycle illustration (INR 64.21 Lakhs) therefore requires funding that works without a guaranteed employment outcome.
UK Visa for Bath Computer Science Students 2027
International applicants need a UK Student visa for this full-time, one-year master’s after receiving an eligible offer and Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). CAS is the reference issued by Bath for the visa application. The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is separate from tuition and the visa fee. Check the official UK Student visa rules before paying because immigration charges and eligibility conditions can change.
- The Student visa fee is GBP 558 (INR 71,513), while the IHS is GBP 776 per year (INR 99,452) for students.
- Outside London, maintenance is GBP 1,171 per month (INR 1.50 Lakhs) for up to nine months, or GBP 10,539 (INR 13.51 Lakhs) total.
- The Graduate Route lasts 18 months from 1 January 2027, while Skilled Worker sponsorship usually requires GBP 41,700 (INR 53.44 Lakhs) or the higher going rate.
- After five qualifying years on eligible work routes, settlement may be possible, but dependants are generally restricted for this taught master’s unless a government-sponsored exception applies.
Check Out: UK Student visa requirements
Visa reality: The 18-month Graduate Route makes early role targeting important for a September 2027 graduate. Fund the visa fee, IHS and maintenance requirement separately from Bath’s living estimate.
University of Bath Computer Science Ranking 2027
Bath’s MSc Computer Science is not given a separate course ranking in the official sources checked. The available positions are subject or student-experience measures, so they do not establish this MSc’s teaching quality, selection odds or salary.
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is the publisher of the international subject ranking listed below. Its Computer Science and Information Systems band provides discipline context, while the UK tables measure a different scope.
| Ranking source | Edition | Position | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| QS World University Rankings by Subject | 2026 | 251 to 300 | Computer Science and Information Systems worldwide subject band |
| Complete University Guide | 2027 | 10th | Computer Science subject in the United Kingdom |
| The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide | 2026 | Top 10 | Computer Science student experience in the United Kingdom |
| Guardian University Guide | 2026 | Joint 5th | Computer Science and Information Systems careers after 15 months |
Subject rankings can help an applicant check discipline visibility, but they cannot replace the MSc’s quantitative entry test, project model or employment evidence. Use the ranking scope alongside the course structure and the absence of an MSc salary report.
Key insight: The 2026 to 2027 subject positions support Bath’s computer science context. The one-year MSc decision still turns on quantitative readiness, funding and a credible post-study career plan.
University of Bath Computer Science MSc fits Indian graduates who want a rapid technical conversion and can evidence algebra, calculus and independent problem-solving.
The one-year structure combines programming, artificial intelligence, software engineering and a specialist project, which suits applicants seeking a focused route into technology or further research.
The material tradeoff is financial and evidential because 2027 tuition, MSc salary data and target-cycle deadlines remain unpublished, while the prior-cycle cost illustration is substantial.
Prepare the grading scale, quantitative evidence, English route and funding plan now, then verify the 2027 fee, deadline and scholarship rules before accepting an offer.

Dislikes
- Campus is far from the city center
- Limited jobs on campus for students
- Unequal distribution of credits for units
- I applied for Uni accommodation but it was a city accommodation named Green Park House. My accommodation was approx 2 miles from the Uni with regular buses on U1 route.
- My monthly rent was approx 800 pounds. And 5 people had ensuite washrooms with a communal kitchen. This was quite spacious. All utilities were included in the rent.
- To be honest, I did not face any challenge at all securing the accommodation.
- In Bath, I would suggest university accommodations as the number of private accommodations is quite limited.
