University of Bath admissions cover UCAS undergraduate applications, direct master’s routes, and a fixed School of Management MSc window. Indian undergraduates need 75 to 90% in Class XII, while most master’s applicants need a UK 2:1 equivalent bachelor’s (around 60% for Indian degrees).

  • Next live overseas window: January 2027 School of Management MSc, deadline 12 December 2026
  • Base tuition: GBP 25,000-38,950 (INR 32.20-50.16 Lakhs); SoM MSc application fee GBP 60 (INR 7,727)

  • Acceptance rate: estimated at 12 to 15% institution-wide, no official figure published

MSc Business Analytics, MSc Finance, and the full-time MBA are the most popular picks for Indian students at the University of Bath. Applicants cite strong teaching quality and industry links. The Times Good University Guide placed Bath 7th in the UK for 2026.

Admission Status: Open. September is the University of Bath’s primary intake for Indian students, and its 2026 overseas cycle has closed. The next live window is the January 2027 School of Management MSc intake, with an overseas deadline of 12 December 2026 and a GBP 60 (around INR 7,727) application fee. Undergraduate applicants apply through UCAS (institution code B16) for the 2027 entry cycle.

University of Bath Application Deadlines 2026-27

University of Bath’s primary intake for Indian students is September, when most master’s, MBA, and undergraduate programs open. A limited January intake is available only for School of Management (SoM) MSc programs. Overseas deadlines fall roughly a month before home deadlines. Dates below are drawn from the official postgraduate admissions timeline, with fees stated in the currency the applicant actually pays.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use GBP 1 = INR 128.78, the live rate on 13 August 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

Bath’s primary intake for Indian students is September, where most programs open. The January intake is limited to School of Management MSc programs only.

Bath’s PhD applications run rolling year-round. Overseas PhD applicants must apply at least 3 months before their intended start; home applicants at least 2 months. Undergraduate applicants use the UCAS 2027 cycle, which typically opens in early autumn 2026; Bath’s institution code is B16.

Planning note: September 2026 overseas deadlines have already closed. If you want an autumn 2026 start, the only live route for Indian PG applicants is the January 2027 School of Management MSc intake. All other master’s cohorts must target September 2027, whose deadlines Bath usually publishes in autumn 2026.

Bath Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students

Eligibility at the University of Bath is set course by course, but the university publishes clear country-specific floors for Indian applicants. These cover Class XII marks for undergraduates, bachelor’s classification for master’s, and English language minimums across four accepted tests. This section covers academic and language thresholds only; the paperwork list sits in Documents Required.

Bath Academic Eligibility for Indian Applicants

  • UG general entry: Class XII from CBSE, ISC/CISCE, or a State board at 75 to 90% across the best four subjects
  • UG competitive courses: 85 to 90%+ with specific subject marks (for example, Mathematics for Engineering, Economics, or Management)
  • PG taught standard: Bachelor honours (3 or 4 years) at UK 2:1 equivalent, roughly 60% for Indian degrees
  • PG taught competitive: UK first-class equivalent, around 70% or CGPA 8.0+, for oversubscribed MSc programs
  • PhD: First-class bachelor or a master’s with a research component in the relevant subject

Bath usually accepts 3-year Indian bachelor’s degrees for master’s entry when awarded by a UGC-recognised university, though some quantitative MSc programs prefer 4-year degrees. Course-specific prerequisites in Mathematics, Economics, or Computing apply and are stated on each program page.

University of Bath English Language Requirements

The official English language requirements page groups programs into Category A, B, and C. Category A is the standard floor; Category B applies to some management and social science programs; Category C is used for humanities, education, and most PhDs. Scores must be dated within 24 months of course start.

Bath accepts the IELTS One Skill Retake, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, and PTE Academic taken at a test centre. TOEFL iBT scores from 21 January 2026 use the new scoring scale; both scales are accepted subject to conversion tables published on the English requirements page.

University of Bath IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Bath waives the IELTS requirement for Indian applicants who meet all three conditions: 12 months of degree-level study at an English-medium institution, Class XII Core English at the board’s cut (75% for CBSE/ISC, up to 80% for State boards), and the degree awarded within the last 5 years. Waivers are approved by the admissions team on a per-application basis; supporting evidence (transcripts and a medium-of-instruction letter) must be uploaded with the application.

Insider note: An MOI letter alone does not qualify. Bath requires both the MOI evidence and the Class XII Core English marks meeting the board floor. Applicants short of Class XII Core English usually submit IELTS instead.

Bath University PG Programs and English Scores

Bath offers roughly 100 postgraduate taught programs across management, engineering, computer science, humanities, and health. Popular picks for Indian students are the School of Management MSc portfolio, MSc Computer Science, MSc Data Science, and MSc Innovation and Technology Management. Base tuition for 2026-27 runs GBP 25,000 to GBP 38,950 (INR 32.20 to INR 50.16 Lakhs) depending on subject; the full course-wise fees breakdown covers all programs.

School of Management MSc programs (Business Analytics, Finance, Management, Marketing, HRM, International Management, Innovation and Technology Management) all fall in Category B for English, meaning IELTS 7.0 overall with 6.5 in each component. Most engineering, science, and computing MSc programs use Category A (IELTS 6.5, 6.0 each).

Insider note: The School of Management MSc portfolio uses a single online application form. You select one program as your first choice and can list a second choice; the SoM admissions team assesses both against the same profile.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official University of Bath postgraduate application page for your chosen program before applying.

University of Bath UG Programs and Tuition

Undergraduate admission to the University of Bath goes through UCAS (institution code B16). Bath teaches roughly 130 undergraduate courses across science, engineering, management, humanities, and health. Tuition for 2026-27 overseas entrants is banded by subject group, per the official UG tuition page.

Application fee for UCAS 2027 cycle is GBP 28.95 (INR 3,728).

Bath MBA Admission Requirements

Bath’s full-time MBA is a 12-month program with a single September intake, based at the School of Management. The overseas deadline for the September 2026 cohort was 31 July 2026 (Closed); the September 2027 window opens in autumn 2026 and typically closes in late July 2027, per the pattern published on the MBA entry requirements page.

Bath MBA Entry Criteria for Indian Applicants

  • Work experience: minimum 3 years post-graduation, with progressive responsibility
  • Academic: Bachelor honours at UK 2:1 (around 60% Indian degree). Applicants without a degree can enter with 10+ years of substantial managerial experience
  • GMAT / GRE: not required, though a strong score strengthens borderline applications
  • English: IELTS 6.5 (6.0 each), TOEFL iBT 100 (24 each), or PTE 69 (62 each)
  • Application fee: no application fee; deposit and tuition are paid after offer acceptance

Bath MBA Interview Process

All shortlisted MBA applicants sit a 30 to 40 minute interview with the admissions team, usually held online for Indian applicants. Shortlisting is based on academics, career trajectory, and the essays in the application. The interview covers motivation for the MBA, leadership examples, and career goals post-Bath.

Base MBA tuition for 2026-27 is GBP 38,950 (INR 50.16 Lakhs). The full-time MBA is the only MBA route Bath currently offers to overseas applicants; part-time and executive variants are not run for international cohorts.

Reality check: Bath’s MBA is small, with a cohort of around 30. This keeps class engagement tight but also makes the interview stage a real filter. Applicants without a strong quantitative case for their career progression are usually not shortlisted.

University of Bath PhD Application Route

Bath admits PhD candidates on a rolling basis across the year, and applications sit outside the fixed master’s cycle. Overseas applicants must submit at least 3 months before their intended start; home applicants at least 2 months. Steps and academic prerequisites are set on the official doctoral study guide.

Bath PhD Academic and English Floor

  • Academic: first-class Indian bachelor’s, or a master’s with a research component in the relevant subject
  • English (STEM): IELTS 6.5 overall (6.0 in each)
  • English (humanities): IELTS 7.0 overall (6.5 in each)
  • Supervisor: most applicants approach a potential supervisor with a research proposal before formal application
  • Interview: Bath usually interviews shortlisted candidates, either online or on campus, on the proposal and research plan

Bath PhD Funding and Stipend

Bath supports many PhD candidates through UKRI-linked studentships. The UKRI stipend for 2026-27 is GBP 21,805 (INR 28.08 Lakhs) per year for eligible funded students, typically covering three to four years. Fees are covered separately by the funding scheme. Bath also runs university studentships and departmental scholarships; the full funding for Indian students list covers eligibility per scheme.

Bath Application Process and Portal

The University of Bath uses different portals for undergraduate, postgraduate taught, PhD, and MBA applications. All Indian students should have their academic transcripts, English test result, and a preliminary personal statement ready before opening an application. Bath aims to return a decision within 6 weeks of receiving all supporting documents.

Bath Application Steps for Indian Students

  1. Register on UCAS with institution code B16 for undergraduate applications, or open a Bath applicant account on the postgraduate application portal for master’s programs. MBA applicants use the Bath MBA portal directly.
  2. Complete the online form with personal details, academic history, and program choice. School of Management MSc applicants may list two choices on one form.
  3. Upload supporting documents: transcripts, degree certificate (or interim), English test result, CV, personal statement, and references.
  4. Pay the application fee where charged: GBP 60 (around INR 7,727) for School of Management MSc on the Bath postgraduate portal, GBP 28.95 (around INR 3,728) for the UCAS undergraduate application. Other master’s programs, the MBA, and PhD carry no application fee.
  5. Track the decision on your applicant account. Bath returns a decision within 6 weeks of a complete application.
  6. Accept your offer within 4 weeks of receipt and pay any programme deposit (School of Management MSc and MBA only).

Bath Admission Decision Timeline

After you submit a complete application, Bath returns an offer, conditional offer, or rejection within 6 weeks. Conditional offers usually specify pending final academic transcripts or an English test result. Applicants have 4 weeks to accept the offer, after which the place is released. Deferral to the next cycle is possible on request but not guaranteed; Bath assesses deferrals case by case, and School of Management deferrals are especially tight.

Bath University Documents Required

Bath’s document set for Indian applicants is standard for a UK research university. Every applicant should scan documents at high resolution and keep the originals ready for the visa CAS stage. Uploads happen inside the applicant portal; no email or postal submission is needed at the application stage.

  • Passport: biodata page, valid for the full duration of studies
  • Academic transcripts: Class X, Class XII marksheet, and semester-wise bachelor’s transcripts
  • Degree certificate: or an interim transcript with expected completion date if still studying
  • English test score report: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or accepted equivalent, dated within 24 months of course start
  • Personal statement: program-specific, around 500 to 1,000 words
  • Two academic or professional references: uploaded with contact details for verification
  • CV: required for MBA and most master’s applications
  • Work experience letters: mandatory for MBA (3 years+); useful supporting evidence for MSc Innovation and Technology Management
  • Research proposal: PhD applicants only (2,000 to 3,000 words)
  • Passport-size photograph: digital, plain background

MOI evidence (a medium-of-instruction letter from the bachelor’s institution) is required only if applying for the IELTS waiver route. Financial documents are needed at the visa stage, not the application stage.

University of Bath Acceptance Rate

The University of Bath does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates put institution-wide selectivity at around 12 to 15%, based on competitive-intake patterns across the School of Management and engineering programs. Program-level odds vary widely; the MBA, MSc Business Analytics, and MSc Finance are the tightest for Indian applicants, while conversion MSc programs are more open.

Which Bath programs are most competitive?

The School of Management’s flagship MSc programs (Business Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Management, HRM) are Bath’s most competitive PG cohorts. Indian applicants typically need a Bachelor’s at 65%+ from a well-ranked university plus IELTS 7.0. MSc Innovation and Technology Management tends to be marginally more open where applicants show industry experience.

How can Indian students improve their odds?

Bath admissions teams weigh three things: academic fit (subject prerequisites plus percentage), the personal statement’s clarity on why-Bath and why-program, and evidence of applied work or research. Applicants who show one substantial project, internship, or publication tied to the chosen field tend to be shortlisted even at the lower end of the academic band. Bath ranked 125 in the QS World University Rankings 2027, so the applicant pool is competitive but not saturated.

Insider note: The personal statement carries real weight at Bath, especially for School of Management MSc. Generic "top UK university" openers hurt applications. A tight, program-specific statement that names courses, research clusters, or industry links tends to stand out.

UK Student Visa for Bath Applicants

Indian students admitted to Bath apply for the UK Student visa (formerly Tier 4) at the UK VFS Global centres in India. The visa can be filed up to 6 months before the course start date. Bath issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number after you accept the offer, pay any required deposit, and meet all offer conditions.

The application requires a valid passport, the CAS from Bath, academic transcripts named on the CAS, English test evidence (or waiver documentation), a tuberculosis test certificate, and financial proof covering first-year tuition plus monthly living costs per UKVI requirements. Priority Visa and Super Priority Visa services are available at extra cost for faster decisions. On arrival, students collect the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or activate the eVisa within 10 days.

2026 update: The UK Student Route now uses the digital eVisa system for most new international students. Indian applicants should link their UKVI account after biometric enrolment and check the eVisa status before travel, since paper BRPs are being phased out for new-issue cohorts.

Tips and Application Checklist for University of Bath

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at the University of Bath across the September and January intakes. They cover sequencing and stage-gates, not documents already listed above.

  • Start 6 to 9 months out: for September intake, begin research and reference outreach by December of the prior year
  • Book IELTS by month 2: Category B (IELTS 7.0) programs need practice runs; test slots in metros fill fast between January and April
  • Request transcripts 8 weeks before deadline: Indian universities often take 4 to 6 weeks to issue certified copies
  • Draft the personal statement in two passes: first pass for content, second pass tailored to Bath’s course pages and research clusters
  • Apply early for competitive MSc: the School of Management operates informal rolling review, so applications submitted in November to January get more considered assessment than late-cycle ones
  • SoM scholarship deadline is separate: the School of Management MSc scholarship round for the 2026-27 cycle had a final deadline of 12 June 2026 (Closed). Watch for the 2027-28 round opening in early 2027 and note it falls weeks before the main January intake deadline
  • Apply for CAS immediately after offer acceptance: processing takes 5 to 10 working days once the deposit clears
  • File the visa 3 months before course start: keeps room for TB test, biometric appointment, and any request for further evidence

Indian applicants to the University of Bath should treat the September primary intake as the default and the January School of Management MSc window as a strong second option. Track deadlines, pay the correct application fee at the point of submission, and prepare English evidence early. With a rolling review model, a complete early application is worth more than a late polished one.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarship. I am not sure about the number of scholarships each year. However, my uni gives out quite a lot of scholarships to MBA students.
  • One of my course mate got a scholarship of 10000 pounds under the great India scholarship.
  • Apart from this they have global leader scholarships. However, I am not aware of anyone who has been awarded this scholarship.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I got the School of Management Worldwide Scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to: Get an offer to study one of the Taught Postgraduate Master's courses in the School of Management for the 2022/23 school year, Say yes to the offer, Pay the deposit within the four-week time limit mentioned in the offer letter, Apply for the scholarship by the given deadlines, Use the right application form in the application tracker. Both UK and international students could apply for this scholarship if they were doing full-time MSc courses on campus.
  • The School of Management Worldwide Scholarship gave me £5,000. This came as a discount on my tuition fees.
  • Yes, a few of my classmates got scholarships too. The School of Management has different scholarship options to help students pay for their master's degrees.
  • Although I don’t have specific figures, I can say what I know based on the scholarship information from the university. The School of Management provides over 30 worldwide scholarships each worth up to GBP 5,000. There are also some other comparatively few scholarships available for high amounts, such as: Three Dean's Scholarships for Ambition, each covering 50% of the tuition fees, Seven MSc Anniversary Scholarships of GBP 10,000 each.

Overview

  • I applied to over 20 business schools in the UK.
  • The universities I got rejections from are as follows: University of Leeds, Aston Business School, Kingston University, University of Stirling, University of Liverpool, University of Glasgow. The rejection was mainly due to a lack of business or managerial experience in my CV. These universities mainly look for 3-5 years of managerial experience. I had roughly 4 years of experience (includes lead experience but not managerial).
  • I applied to these universities apart from the above: University of Bath, Lancaster University Management School, University of Strathclyde, Durham University, University of Birmingham, University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University, Cardiff University, University of Surrey, Brunel Business school, Queen's University Belfast, Birmingham City University, Buckinghamshire New University, University of westminister, Hult business school, University of East Anglia, Bangor University, University of Sussex.
  • While most of the universities did not reply, I got offer letters from the following: University of Surrey, Brunel Business school, Lancaster University, Queen's University Belfast, University of Bath, Bangor University, Hult business school.
  • Here are the factors I considered while choosing Bath over others: QS ranking of the university, proximity to major cities like London, university reputation, extra-curricular activities, scholarship, no hard need to write GMAT, career prospects, multi-project suite and reviews from alumni.
  • Once applied and waited for 10 days, I got an email for the first round of interviews which was more of a culture fit interview, explaining my professional experience and intention to do an MBA. After a week I got selected for the second round which was with the career head, where they will assess if MBA is the right way and how they can help us achieve it. Got the conditional letter after two weeks or so. There was a video submission done to apply for a scholarship (optional).
  • If the candidate's professional experience suffices, they do not ask for a GMAT but an IELTS score of 7 or above is a must. It was very smooth and probably one of the fastest ones comparing to other universities.
  • September 2023 intake was the one I planned for. In the UK, there are generally 2 intakes: September and January, only 5-10% of all universities have Jan intake which is a selected list of good colleges.
  • I wanted to do an MBA to start my own business in the future. Due to rising competition in India, the best way for me to do this was through an international MBA. Overall, the timeline was spread out over 2 months. From the initial date of application, to the unconditional letter.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received a scholarship called the Bath South Asia Outstanding Students with Potential which was 10K GBP. Eligible to apply if you are a student from South Asia.Yes, roughly 30-40% of all MBA students received a scholarship.
  • The scholarship has 3 divisions, 5K, 10K and 15K. The decision is made based on the video submitted combined with CV. Roughly 30% or more from MBA would receive this every year.

Overview

I chose this university based on its ranking in my field and based on how they had advertised their teaching and course curriculum. Overall, the experience has been decent with respect to academics, but not that great when it comes to marking for exams/ assignments.

Overview

The ranking of the university, the reviews from previous students, and the career prospects made me choose this university and the particular program. The overall experience of my study time at the University of Bath was top notch. Ever since the first day, my professors laid down a clear path of study and how the curriculum would progress. There were several social events to make friends at, which made it easy to make friends. The university hosted frequent career events to interact with recruiters, build connections and get to know more about the jobs. The university allowed us to choose the subjects and modules we wanted based on our interests and we were well informed about each module.  We also had the option to choose a practice track to gain real world knowledge by working with companies.

Scholarship

I didn’t receive or apply for any scholarship.

Overview

The overall experience was great and it really developed me a lot, in terms of way of thinking, positive mindset and how to create a good work culture and environment. The course gave me a lot of learning and some very good and big projects including team work and individual aspects of striking them. There were some challenges and problems too, but with the support of faculties and a good environment, I tackled everything and successfully completed everything with so much of excitement and experience.

Overview

To start a new life in a new country and pursue a career in Data Science. The program offers a 1 year placement for the MSc Data Science program which is basically a year long entry level role but it is competitive and you need to apply to secure a placement. The university is very well reputed and has a great CS department with amazing employment prospects and careers service team.

Overview

University of Bath is one of the best university in UK for Data Science with good ranking. The curriculum provided by the university is really good which covers almost every topic in data science. The deep learning and reinforcement learning modules would be very helpful and not included in most of the other universities. The course had 2years of course including placement which I thought would be beneficial for getting job in new country.

Scholarship

I got Academic Excellence scholarship from University of Bath which was £5,000. I had to write two essay for the scholarship.

Overview

The course modules were really interesting to me, especially since I had done similar subjects in my under graduation. With relevant topics in todays day and age , it was a step up from what I had learned and how I have to apply it in my work life as I begin working in my family business and look for new opportunities as and how I take over the business. In a post-covid world having these techniques to think and look at opportunities in different ways will help stand out from the crowd.
