Edinburgh Napier University Scholarships for UG Students
Edinburgh Napier runs one central undergraduate award for Indian self-funded admits plus an early-payment discount. Neither requires a separate form once an offer is accepted.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| South Asia Scholarship (UG) | £2,000 (INR 2.56 Lakhs) per year; Indian admits may renew annually up to a total of £8,000 (INR 10.22 Lakhs) across the degree, subject to successful progression | Indian passport-holder resident in India, self-funded, holding an offer for a full-time on-campus bachelor’s, 60% or above in Class XII HSC | Automatic on tuition deposit payment; next windows cover January 2027 and September 2027 intakes | Automatic on deposit payment, no separate form |
| International Early Payment Discount | £500 (INR 0.64 Lakhs) off first-year tuition | Overseas fee-paying UG admit who settles full annual tuition at least 30 days before matriculation | Tentative December 1, 2026 (January 2027 intake); tentative August 30, 2027 (September 2027 intake) | Full fee payment via Flywire or bank transfer before deadline |
Indian UG applicants treat the South Asia Scholarship as the baseline funding move. A BSc Computer Science admit at Merchiston pays £21,120 (INR 26.99 Lakhs) tuition in 2026/27. The scholarship pulls Year 1 outlay down to £19,120 (INR 24.44 Lakhs). Add the Early Payment Discount and Year 1 outlay drops to £18,620 (INR 23.80 Lakhs).
Progression top-ups matter for budgeting a three-year or four-year BSc. India admits receive a further £2,000 at Years 2 and 3, provided academic standing holds. Total tuition support across a three-year degree lands near £6,000 (INR 7.67 Lakhs). A four-year Honours route adds a Year 4 top-up and the total climbs to £8,000 (INR 10.22 Lakhs).
Best-fit UG programmes for the automatic award include BSc Computer Science, BEng Computing and BA International Business Management. Each clears the overseas tuition band that Edinburgh Napier uses for South Asia processing. Class XII English above 70% also waives IELTS at the UG band, which simplifies the offer file.
For the full UG programme list across the Merchiston, Craiglockhart and Sighthill campuses, see the Edinburgh Napier University overview before locking a UCAS choice.
Edinburgh Napier University Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students
Postgraduate funding for Indian admits runs through three routes. Two are automatic on admission and the third is a Scottish Government award requiring a parallel central application.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| South Asia Scholarship (PG one-year) | £3,000 (INR 3.83 Lakhs) off first-year tuition for one-year taught master’s programmes | Indian passport-holder, self-funded, offer for a full-time on-campus one-year master’s at Edinburgh Napier | Automatic on tuition deposit payment; covers January 2027, May 2027 and September 2027 intakes | Automatic on deposit payment, no separate form |
| South Asia Scholarship (PG two-year) | £1,000 (INR 1.28 Lakhs) off first-year tuition for two-year taught master’s with placement | Indian passport-holder, self-funded, offer for a two-year taught master’s such as MSc Computing with Professional Placement | Automatic on tuition deposit payment | Automatic on deposit payment, no separate form |
| International Early Payment Discount | £500 (INR 0.64 Lakhs) off first-year tuition | Overseas fee-paying PG admit who settles full annual tuition at least 30 days before matriculation | Tentative December 1, 2026 (January 2027 intake); tentative August 30, 2027 (September 2027 intake) | Full fee payment via Flywire or bank transfer before deadline |
The £3,000 South Asia award is the standard route for Indian one-year master’s admits. On MSc Computing at £22,290 (INR 28.49 Lakhs) the net Year 1 bill lands at £19,290 (INR 24.66 Lakhs). Stacking the £500 Early Payment Discount trims a further £500 and brings the Year 1 figure to £18,790 (INR 24.02 Lakhs).
Reddit Insight: Edinburgh Napier Indian admits confirm the £3,000 South Asia Scholarship credits the student account within four weeks of deposit payment. Several report that MBA (Business Leadership and Practice) at £12,330 (INR 15.76 Lakhs) sits below the typical Chevening tuition cap. The programme is one of the lower-cost full-time MBA stacks across Scottish master’s offerings.
Programmes priced under the one-year master’s structure qualify directly for the £3,000 band. The MSc Computing with Professional Placement variant switches to the £1,000 band. The degree stretches across two academic years with an industry placement in the middle.
Deposit payment is the trigger for South Asia processing. The standard CAS deposit at Edinburgh Napier sits at £6,000 (INR 7.67 Lakhs) and must clear before the scholarship credits the fee account. Applicants paying full annual tuition at this stage also activate the Early Payment Discount in the same transaction.
For intake cut-off dates, IELTS 6.0 overall thresholds and the India Office contact used for scholarship queries, see the Edinburgh Napier University admissions page.
India-Specific Scholarships at Edinburgh Napier University
Three routes carry the strongest Indian student track record at Edinburgh Napier. The South Asia Scholarship is the only award exclusive to the South Asia region. Chevening and Inlaks are India citizen awards that pay directly to the university.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| South Asia Scholarship (India progression top-up) | Up to £8,000 (INR 10.22 Lakhs) total across a four-year Honours degree, renewable at each year on academic progression | Indian passport-holder, continuous enrolment on a full-time on-campus degree, pass marks at each year-end board | Automatic on each year’s registration | Automatic, no renewal form |
| GREAT Scholarship (India) at Edinburgh Napier | Not offered to Indian passport-holders in the 2026/27 British Council India list | Indian passport-holders redirect to a UK partner that holds a GREAT India slot for 2026/27 | Tentative December 2026 announcement for the 2027/28 India partner list | Apply to a listed UK GREAT India university; recheck British Council India page each December |
| Chevening Scholarship at Edinburgh Napier (UK Government) | Full tuition up to the Chevening MBA cap of £22,000 (INR 28.12 Lakhs), monthly stipend, return airfare, arrival allowance | Indian citizen, 2,800 hours of post-UG work experience, offer for a one-year taught master’s at Edinburgh Napier, commitment to return to India for 2 years | Tentative October 5, 2027 for 2028/29 entry (portal opens tentative August 2027) | Chevening online portal, up to 3 UK course choices including Edinburgh Napier |
| Inlaks Shivdasani Scholarship | Up to $100,000 (approx. INR 88 Lakhs) across tuition, living costs, one-way airfare and health insurance | Indian citizen under 30, first-class UG from a top-30 Indian institution, offer from a recognised overseas master’s such as Edinburgh Napier | Tentative March 15, 2027 for 2027 entry | Inlaks Foundation online form plus written study proposal |
Indian admits should rely on the South Asia Scholarship for default funding, with Chevening as the stretch route. The progression top-up adds real value for four-year BEng and BA Honours admits. Years 2 to 4 each release a further £2,000 at Edinburgh Napier.
Priority stacking order for Indian master’s admits at Edinburgh Napier:
Chevening pays tuition directly to Edinburgh Napier, so the £3,000 South Asia PG waiver cancels for confirmed Chevening winners. The Chevening monthly stipend lands at roughly £1,500 (INR 1.92 Lakhs) across the master’s year. It covers the Edinburgh living-cost benchmark of £10,224 (INR 13.07 Lakhs) annually.
Edinburgh Napier sits outside the British Council India GREAT list for 2026/27. Indian passport-holders chasing GREAT should recheck the India partner list in December 2026 when the 2027/28 cycle opens. The list changes year on year as partnership funding rotates between UK institutions.
Inlaks selection favours first-class UG holders from IITs, NITs, top private institutions and recognised Delhi University colleges. Applicants outside that top-30 institution band typically route effort toward Chevening or the Government of India scholarships covered in the external section.
Edinburgh Napier University PhD Scholarships
PhD funding at Edinburgh Napier runs through two tracks for Indian candidates. Project-advertised studentships cover full international tuition plus a UKRI-aligned stipend. Commonwealth Split-Site and Schlumberger support cross-registered research routes.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Edinburgh Napier Research Studentships | Full international tuition plus annual stipend aligned to the UKRI rate of £21,383 (INR 27.33 Lakhs) in 2026/27 | First-class UG or taught master’s, project fit with an advertised Edinburgh Napier studentship in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Nursing or Transport | Project-specific; recent cycles closed January 9, 2026; tentative January 2027 for the 2027/28 cohort | Direct application to the advertising school with supervisor contact |
| Commonwealth Split-Site PhD Scholarship | Full international tuition for the 12-month Edinburgh Napier portion plus monthly stipend during the UK residency | Indian PhD candidate registered at an Indian institution, project co-supervised by an Edinburgh Napier academic | Tentative October 20, 2026 for the 2027/28 cohort | Nomination through Indian nominating agency, then CSC Central portal submission |
| Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellowship | Up to $50,000 (approx. INR 44 Lakhs) per year across tuition and living costs | Indian woman pursuing a STEM PhD, first-class UG or master’s, commitment to return to India for teaching or research | Tentative November 13, 2026 for the 2027 cohort | Separate application through the Schlumberger Foundation portal |
Edinburgh Napier’s research base concentrates in the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment plus the School of Health and Social Care. The REF 2021 return rated 70% of research as internationally excellent or world-leading, which underpins the case file for Commonwealth Split-Site and Schlumberger panels.
Contact a potential supervisor before submitting a PhD application. Fully funded studentships at Edinburgh Napier generally map to active grants and advertised project calls, not central university funding pots. A well-scoped research proposal aligned to a live grant shifts the odds more than a strong CV in isolation.
Indian PhD candidates who do not secure a project studentship should default to the Commonwealth Split-Site route. It funds a 12-month research residency at Merchiston while the doctorate remains registered in India. The route suits applied projects with a UK data collection or lab component.
For the active research subject list and school structures that support the Commonwealth Split-Site case file, see the Edinburgh Napier University programs page.
External Government Scholarships for Edinburgh Napier University Applicants
Indian applicants layer external government scholarships on top of any Edinburgh Napier tuition waiver. Six routes carry real track record for Edinburgh Napier master’s admits from India.
| Scholarship | Value | Eligibility | Deadline | Application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chevening Scholarship (UK Government) | Full tuition up to the Chevening MBA cap of £22,000 (INR 28.12 Lakhs), monthly stipend, return airfare, arrival allowance | Indian citizen, 2,800 hours of post-UG work experience, commitment to return to India for 2 years | Tentative October 5, 2027 for 2028/29 entry (portal opens tentative August 2027) | Chevening online portal, up to 3 UK course choices |
| Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship | Full tuition, monthly stipend, return airfare, thesis grant and warm clothing allowance | Indian citizen with first-class UG, commitment to return to India, offer for a one-year taught master’s in a Commonwealth priority area | Tentative October 21, 2027 for 2028/29 entry | Nomination through Ministry of Human Resource Development, then CSC Central portal |
| Saltire Scholarship (Scottish Government) | £8,000 (INR 10.22 Lakhs) off first-year tuition for a one-year master’s in STEM, healthcare, renewable energy or creative industries | Indian passport-holder, confirmed Edinburgh Napier offer for an eligible one-year master’s, no prior UK study funding | Tentative May 30, 2027 for 2027/28 entry (portal opens tentative March 2027) | Scottish Government Saltire online portal plus Edinburgh Napier offer letter |
| National Overseas Scholarship (Government of India) | Full tuition plus annual maintenance near £15,400 (INR 19.68 Lakhs) plus one-way airfare plus contingency grant | SC, ST, denotified nomadic, artisan or landless labour category with annual family income under INR 8 Lakhs | Tentative March 31, 2027 for the 2027 cohort | Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment online portal |
| J N Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship | Loan scholarship up to INR 10 Lakhs plus gift award up to INR 7.5 Lakhs on academic merit | Indian citizen with confirmed overseas PG offer and strong academic record | Tentative March 22, 2027 for 2027 entry | JN Tata Endowment online portal plus personal interview |
| KC Mahindra Scholarship for PG Studies Abroad | Up to INR 10 Lakhs grant portion with an additional interest-free loan on merit | Indian citizen with confirmed overseas PG offer and documented financial need | Tentative March 31, 2027 for 2027 entry | KC Mahindra Education Trust online application |
Edinburgh Napier sits inside the Chevening eligible-university list, so every full-time one-year taught master’s at the university qualifies for a Chevening bid. The applicant must clear 2,800 hours of post-undergraduate work experience and hold a completed bachelor’s at the time of application.
Chevening runs annually competitive at roughly 1,650 global awards and around 65 slots for India. Applicants stack strongest when the personal statement links the Edinburgh Napier master’s to a defined India-return career objective, ideally with a named employer or sector.
Reddit Insight: Scottish Saltire winners from India report that the Saltire portal closes earlier than Chevening. The route prefers STEM or creative industries master’s offers. Admits on MSc Cyber Security and MSc Computing report stronger shortlisting odds than the Business Management streams for the £8,000 Scottish Government route.
Chevening and Saltire tuition cover does not stack with the Edinburgh Napier South Asia Scholarship. Both awards pay tuition directly to the university, which auto-cancels any South Asia PG discount already loaded on the fee account.
Government of India National Overseas Scholarship applicants should submit the Edinburgh Napier offer letter alongside the ministry application in the March 2027 window. The award funds full tuition on any recognised overseas master’s, including the MSc Cyber Security and the MBA (Business Leadership and Practice).

Edinburgh Napier University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. What is the maximum scholarship stack an Indian student can secure at Edinburgh Napier University?
Ans. The Chevening Scholarship is the highest confirmed route for an Indian Edinburgh Napier master’s admit. It pays full tuition plus a monthly stipend worth roughly INR 25 Lakhs plus living cover. If Chevening does not land, the Saltire Scholarship at £8,000 (INR 10.22 Lakhs) is the next-best Scottish route. It covers STEM, healthcare and creative industries master’s offers. Self-funded admits combine the £3,000 South Asia Scholarship with the £500 Early Payment Discount. That combo lands at £3,500 (INR 4.47 Lakhs) off a typical one-year master’s.
Ques. When should Indian applicants apply for Edinburgh Napier University scholarships?
Ans. Chevening opens tentative August 2027 and closes tentative October 5, 2027 for 2028/29 entry. Submit that in parallel with the Edinburgh Napier offer file. The South Asia Scholarship is automatic once the deposit payment clears with no separate window. The Early Payment Discount closes tentative December 1, 2026 for the January 2027 intake and tentative August 30, 2027 for the September 2027 intake. Saltire opens tentative March 2027 and closes tentative May 30, 2027 for 2027/28 entry.
Ques. Do I need to apply separately for the Edinburgh Napier South Asia Scholarship?
Ans. No separate form is required. The South Asia Scholarship triggers automatically once the tuition deposit payment clears for a full-time on-campus bachelor’s or taught master’s offer. The India Office at Begumpet Hyderabad processes the credit within four weeks of deposit receipt. Indian passport-holders already resident in India at the application stage are the eligible pool.
Ques. Can Indian applicants get the GREAT Scholarship India at Edinburgh Napier for 2026-27?
Ans. Not for 2026/27. Edinburgh Napier is not on the 2026/27 British Council India GREAT partner list. Indian passport-holders chasing GREAT should apply to a listed UK partner for 2026/27. Recheck the British Council India page around December 2026 for the 2027/28 announcement. The GREAT India partner list rotates annually as the British Council reallocates funded slots between UK institutions.
Ques. Does the Edinburgh Napier scholarship cover living costs in Edinburgh?
Ans. Edinburgh Napier tuition scholarships do not cover living costs. Budget £10,224 (INR 13.07 Lakhs) per year for accommodation, food, transport and personal expenses in Edinburgh. The UKVI financial-proof benchmark sits at £10,539 (INR 13.47 Lakhs). Chevening pays a monthly living stipend on top of tuition, which closes the gap fully for scholarship-winning master’s admits. Commonwealth Master’s and Schlumberger PhD routes also add a UK-portion stipend during the residency.
Ques. What marks does the South Asia award require from Indian applicants at Edinburgh Napier?
Ans. Undergraduate admits need 60% or above in the Class XII HSC (10+2) across all Indian boards, which matches the standard Edinburgh Napier UG entry bar. Postgraduate admits need 55% or above in the bachelor’s degree, rising to 60% for MSc Computing with Professional Placement. - Best in the UK for Publishing, Journalism and Public relations and it showed. (2021, The Guardian)
- We were encouraged to find internships and placements from early on. I eventually ended up with 3 different internships and a paid placement which went on for a year and proved critically important in my career.
- The placement cell is very supportive. They really go extra lengths to. prepare you for interviews, review your CVs and make sure you are prepared before applying or appearing for the interview. They also kept a check on the quality of placements and kept asking us if we were learning enough in our placements and if our goals are being met by the company. It made us feel like they were on our side (this I believe is very critical when you are in a foreign country with no safety nets or support system nearby)
Dislikes
- I wish there was a proper mixer for our class or department. There wasn't one. We didn't get to network enough with our classmates. (also because classes were hybrid due to covid but still we were going to campus every week or alternate week for impersonal classes)
- Our classroom was not very diverse.
- My dissertation supervisor wasn't supportive and she would miss critical meetings without a notice. That was very stressful.
Scholarship
- Yes. Saltire Scholarship. I got 8,000 quid as a scholarship. The Saltire Scheme offers £8,000 towards the cost of tuition fees for one year of your postgraduate Master's course.
- As an international student, I was required to make a pre-payment deposit of £3,500 to Edinburgh Napier in order to secure my place on the course. After the payment, my final Confirmation of Acceptance for Study (CAS) was issued.
- I was in the university accommodation for the first 3-4 months. It was called Blandfield. It was quite near campus- a 10-minute walk. We had to pay a 500 quid deposit to begin with, and for a year, the cost was around 7,000 quid. But in January, I shifted to a flat I found through Spareroom- the best website to hunt for places to rent. My rent here was £410 for a month, and I had the best flatmates!
- Recommendations- Fixed rent is an expense you can't cut down on, so choose wisely. They need a proper reason for you to let go of the student accommodation. If you don't have good flatmates, move out. The culture is best experienced in real homes/rooms you rent in the city.

- Loved the atmosphere and the vibe they created for studying at the college.
- Also the infrastructure with a medieval and modern infrastructure mixed in.
- I used campus provided accomadation for around 8 months and then found a flat online outside.
Likes
- I loved how we had more discussions in class.
- This helped me to interact more and obtain a better understanding of people' perspectives on the topic.
- It helped me broaden my understanding on the subject.
- I took university accommodation. It was 9 9-month agreement. I had my own room, the kitchen was shared with my flatmates, and access to the laundry room.
Dislikes
- Firstly they told we will provide placements but no placements
Scholarship
Yes, I had received 10% overseas scholarship that is given to all the overseas students by our Napier university
I chose this college since I was able to explore so many things about the place and the value given for this course in that country and how well I can stand up for this when I finish and get into work with this valuable certificate. The education system is completely different since it’s only workshops and practicals and Theories are just not the way of teaching. Communication between the upper-level management to the students also was pretty good
