Kingston University Application Deadlines for Indian Students
Kingston University runs two admission cycles for international applicants each academic year, with September as the primary intake and January as a smaller mid-year intake. Indian applicants can apply via Kingston’s free direct-application route for most courses, or via UCAS for undergraduate places, per the Kingston international admissions timeline.
Kingston University’s primary intake for Indian students is September (Autumn) — most programs open here.
| Intake | Level | Application Deadline | App Fee | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Primary intake — September 2026 (direct route) | UG and PG | 3 July 2026 (Closed) | £0 | Kingston direct |
| September 2026 (UCAS-route standard courses) | UG | 14 August 2026 | £28.50 (INR 3,643) | UCAS |
| January 2027 mid-year intake (direct route) | UG and PG | 29 January 2027 | £0 | Kingston direct |
| September 2027 next primary cycle (direct route) | UG and PG | Opens autumn 2026 (est.) | £0 direct or £28.50 UCAS | Kingston direct |
The January 2027 intake carries an admissions confirmation date of 2 February 2027, so a decision on your firm offer should follow within a week of the application close. Indian applicants applying to the January intake also gain access to the Data Science MSc, Business Analytics MSc, and International Business Management MSc among other popular postgraduate options.
Planning note: If you miss the 14 August UCAS window for September 2026, the January 2027 direct route stays open with no application fee. This is the cleanest fallback for Indian applicants who cannot mobilise documents in five weeks.
Kingston University Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students
Kingston applies distinct academic thresholds for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants. Indian qualifications are recognised directly, without the need for a foundation year in most cases. English proficiency floors apply institution-wide, though several waivers open specifically to Indian applicants for the 2026 and 2027 intakes.
Kingston University Undergraduate Academic Requirements
- CBSE or CISCE Class XII: minimum 60 percent overall.
- State boards (Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, others): minimum 65 percent overall.
- Subject prerequisites: Mathematics for engineering, computing, and quantitative business courses.
- UCAS tariff equivalent: 112 to 136 points depending on subject.
Kingston University Postgraduate Academic Requirements
Postgraduate taught applicants need a UK second-class honours degree (2:2) or Indian equivalent, which typically means 55 to 60 percent from an Indian Bachelor’s programme of at least three years. Some MSc programmes with heavy quantitative or research content ask for a 2:1 (upper second-class), roughly 60 to 65 percent in Indian marks. Faculty-specific subject prerequisites apply, for example Data Science MSc looks for computing, mathematics, statistics, or related engineering backgrounds.
Kingston University English Language Requirements
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall, 5.5 in each element (most UG), 6.0 in each (PG standard).
- TOEFL iBT: 88 overall (R 22, L 21, S 23, W 22).
- PTE Academic: 59 overall (postgraduate standard).
- Duolingo English Test: accepted for select programmes, minimum 110.
- Cambridge English: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with 176 overall.
Kingston University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Kingston introduced an English test waiver for Indian applicants starting with the 2026 intakes. Eligible Indian applicants no longer need to submit an IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE score if they meet the alternative English proof pathways below. This is one of the most Indian-friendly waivers in the UK non-Russell Group tier.
- Class XII English score: 70 to 80 percent from CBSE, CISCE, or recognised state boards equates to IELTS 6.0 to 6.5.
- Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter: from your last completed institution confirming full-time English-medium instruction.
- Prior UK or English-majority-country study: completed qualification within the last two years.

For full funding options, see Kingston’s scholarship page directly.
Insider note: The Data Science Conversion MSc is a strong bet for Indian applicants whose Bachelor’s is in commerce, economics, or engineering (non-computing) but who want a data career. The programme does not require prior programming coursework and still routes into the same job market as the standard Data Science MSc.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Kingston University postgraduate courses page for your chosen program before applying.

Shortlisted candidates attend a video interview with the MBA admissions team within two to three weeks of application. Interviews focus on career motivation, leadership evidence, and the specific fit between your background and Kingston’s small-cohort teaching model.
Base tuition for the Kingston MBA is £25,000 (INR 31.95 Lakhs) for the full-time programme. The Kingston MBA Scholarship offers up to £5,000 (INR 6.39 Lakhs) off tuition for early-application candidates with strong leadership records. For a detailed tuition and living-cost breakdown, see the Kingston Fees page directly.
Insider note: Kingston MBA cohorts run under 40 students and cluster heavily around career switchers rather than continuation-of-industry applicants. Frame your SOP around what you want to switch INTO, not what you want to build on.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Kingston MBA page before applying.
Kingston University PhD Admission for Indian Students
Kingston University offers doctoral study across four faculties, with concentrated Indian applicant interest in Business, Computing, Engineering, and Life Sciences. Kingston’s three-tier PhD funding model for the 2026-27 cycle covers fully funded awards (Home-rate tuition plus maintenance stipend), partial funding of £11,000 (INR 14.06 Lakhs) across three years, and fees-only awards at Home rate. International applicants receiving Home-rate cover must self-fund the international-fee gap. Targeted awards for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic students open annually. The studentship application deadline for late-September 2026 entry was 4 March 2026 (Closed); the next cycle opens in autumn 2026 for the September 2027 start.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Kingston PhD studentships page before applying.
Kingston University Application Process for Indian Students
Indian applicants have two routes into Kingston University: the free direct-application portal for most postgraduate and select undergraduate courses, and UCAS for the standard undergraduate track. Both routes require substantially the same document set. The direct route is faster, typically returning offers within two to four weeks of a complete application.
Kingston University Direct Application Steps
- Choose a single Kingston programme from the postgraduate or undergraduate course list.
- Create an account on the Kingston direct application portal and start a new application.
- Upload transcripts, degree certificate or provisional marksheet, English test or waiver evidence, SOP, CV, and up to two LORs.
- Submit the application (no application fee for the direct route).
- Track your application status in the portal and respond to any admissions officer queries within seven days.
Kingston University UCAS Application Steps
- Register on UCAS Hub for the 2026 or 2027 entry cycle.
- Choose Kingston University as one of up to five course choices.
- Complete personal statement, education history, and reference sections.
- Pay the UCAS application fee of £28.50 (INR 3,643) on the UCAS portal.
- Submit before the intake-specific deadline: 14 August 2026 for September 2026, and 29 January 2027 for January 2027.
Kingston University Admission Decision Timeline
Kingston returns direct-application decisions within two to four weeks of a complete file, and UCAS decisions within four to six weeks depending on subject demand. Offers are conditional on final transcripts, English test evidence, and visa financial documents. After accepting a firm offer, postgraduate applicants pay a £5,000 (INR 6.39 Lakhs) deposit within 21 working days to trigger the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) needed for the UK Student visa. Deferrals to the next matching intake are considered case-by-case within the same academic year.
Kingston University Documents Required for Indian Students
The Kingston document set is standard for a UK university, though the direct-application portal accepts scanned copies at the initial submission stage. Certified physical copies are only required at the CAS-issuance stage after you accept your firm offer. Prepare digital scans in advance to speed the direct-route decision.
- Passport: valid biometric passport with at least 18 months validity beyond course start.
- Class X and XII marksheets: for undergraduate applications, both original and English translation where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree certificate and transcripts: for postgraduate applications, self-attested scans acceptable at first submission.
- English language evidence: IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo score report, or Kingston-approved waiver document (MOI letter or Class XII English marksheet).
- Statement of Purpose (SOP): 500 to 800 words covering course fit, career direction, and Kingston-specific reasons.
- Letters of recommendation (LORs): one academic reference for UG, two references (academic or professional) for PG.
- CV or resume: mandatory for postgraduate and MBA applicants, one to two pages.
- Work experience evidence: employer letters for MBA (three years minimum) and select MSc programmes.
- Portfolio: art, design, architecture, and fashion applicants only.
- Financial evidence: at CAS stage only, showing tuition plus living costs for visa purposes.
Kingston University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
Kingston University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate, in line with most UK modern universities. Third-party estimates place the overall acceptance rate at 25 to 30 percent, with wide variance by course. Nursing, Midwifery, and creative-portfolio programmes are the most competitive, while broad-entry business and computing courses run at higher acceptance levels for well-prepared Indian applicants.
Kingston University Acceptance by Programme Type
Indian applicant patterns suggest three approximate bands. Broad-entry undergraduate business and social science programmes accept the majority of Indian applicants who clear the 60 percent Class XII threshold and IELTS 6.0. Data, computing, and quantitative MSc programmes see acceptance in the 35 to 50 percent range for applicants with a Bachelor’s 2:2 or higher. Nursing, Allied Health, and MBA cohorts run under 25 percent acceptance due to cohort caps and work-experience filters, not academic exclusivity.
Kingston University Ranking Context for Indian Applicants
Kingston sits in the QS World University Rankings 2026 #660 band, and holds a stable #801-1000 THE World Rankings position. Its Art and Design faculty ranks inside the global top 100 in the QS subject rankings, driving a higher applicant pool and lower acceptance for creative courses. For a full ranking band breakdown, see Kingston’s ranking page.
Insider note: Applying to a broad-entry Kingston MSc with a solid 2:2 Bachelor’s and one strong LOR is a high-probability route. Applying to Nursing or the MBA with a borderline profile is not; those cohorts filter aggressively on portfolio and work-experience quality.
UK Student Visa for Kingston University Indian Applicants
Indian students admitted to Kingston University apply for the UK Student visa (formerly Tier 4 General), which requires a valid CAS from Kingston. Kingston issues CAS only after you have accepted a firm unconditional offer and paid the £5,000 postgraduate deposit or confirmed undergraduate acceptance. Apply for the visa no earlier than six months before your course start date.
Financial evidence must cover first-year tuition plus nine months of living costs at £1,334 per month (INR 1.71 Lakhs) for London-based courses, held in a qualifying account for 28 consecutive days. Add the mandatory TB screening certificate from an IOM-approved clinic, biometric enrolment at a VFS Global centre, and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) which is a per-year NHS access fee. Post-arrival, register with the university and, where applicable, the local police within seven days of entering the UK.
2026 update: The UK Graduate Route continues to grant two years of post-study work rights (three for PhD graduates) as of the current government position, allowing Kingston graduates to remain and work in the UK without a job offer at graduation.
Tips for Kingston University Admissions
The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Kingston University over the last two cycles, and apply mostly to the direct-application route which is the primary Indian entry channel.
- Apply via the free direct portal, not UCAS, unless your course requires UCAS submission.
- Use the Class XII English waiver only if your board English score is 70 percent or above.
- Front-load the £5,000 (INR 6.39 Lakhs) postgraduate deposit into your financial plan before applying.
- Frame your SOP around one specific Kingston module or research group, not the university generally.
- Choose the January 2027 intake if you cannot submit a complete file by 14 August 2026.
- Request certified transcripts eight weeks before your target deadline to avoid CAS-stage delays.
- Book your visa appointment within a week of receiving CAS, since VFS slots fill fastest in July and August.
Kingston University Admissions Checklist
The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete in sequence between programme shortlisting and UK arrival. Anchor each step to a date on your calendar rather than the university’s stated deadline.
- 12 weeks before deadline: shortlist two Kingston programmes and request academic transcripts.
- 10 weeks before deadline: book IELTS or gather Class XII English waiver evidence.
- 8 weeks before deadline: draft SOP and secure two LORs from academic or work referees.
- 6 weeks before deadline: submit via the Kingston direct portal for the fastest decision.
- Within 21 working days of unconditional offer: pay the £5,000 (INR 6.39 Lakhs) deposit for CAS issuance.
- 3 to 4 months before course start: apply for UK Student visa with CAS and financial evidence.
- 4 weeks before travel: book accommodation, arrange forex, and register on the pre-arrival portal.
Kingston University admissions favour Indian applicants with clean documentation, a specific course choice, and quick response to admissions queries. Use the free direct route for speed, the Class XII English waiver where you qualify, and target either 14 August 2026 or 29 January 2027 depending on your readiness.

Ques. What is Kingston University’s application fee for Indian students?
Ans. Kingston’s direct-application portal charges no application fee for Indian applicants, which is the primary route for most postgraduate courses and select undergraduate programmes. UCAS applications carry the standard £28.50 (INR 3,643) fee, which covers up to five course choices per applicant.
Ques. Does Kingston University offer a January intake for Indian students?
Ans. Yes. Kingston runs a January 2027 mid-year intake for popular postgraduate courses including Data Science MSc, Business Analytics MSc, International Business Management MSc, and the MBA. The application deadline is 29 January 2027 via the free direct portal.
Ques. What documents are needed for Kingston University postgraduate applications?
Ans. Passport, Bachelor’s degree certificate and transcripts, English proficiency evidence (or waiver document), a 500 to 800 word SOP, two LORs, a CV, and work experience letters where applicable. Portfolio is required for art, design, and fashion applicants. Financial evidence is required at the CAS stage, not at initial application.
Ques. How long does Kingston University take to send an offer?
Ans. Direct-route decisions return within two to four weeks of a complete file. UCAS decisions take four to six weeks depending on subject demand. Missing documents or missing English proof will pause your file, so submit a complete application on the first attempt.
Ques. Is there a deposit required for Kingston University postgraduate courses?
Ans. Yes. All postgraduate taught applicants requiring a UK Student visa must pay a £5,000 (INR 6.39 Lakhs) deposit within 21 working days of accepting an unconditional offer. The deposit is credited towards your first-year tuition instalment. Fully sponsored applicants with financial-sponsor evidence are exempt.
Ques. What is Kingston University’s acceptance rate for international students?
Ans. Kingston does not publish an official acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place it at 25 to 30 percent overall, with broad-entry business and computing courses running higher and Nursing, Allied Health, and MBA cohorts running lower due to work-experience and portfolio filters.
Ques. What UK visa do Kingston University students apply for?
Ans. Indian applicants apply for the UK Student visa (formerly Tier 4 General). Kingston issues a CAS number after you accept the firm offer and pay any required deposit. Financial evidence must cover first-year tuition plus £1,334 per month (INR 1.71 Lakhs) for nine months of London living costs.
Ques. Can Indian students apply directly to Kingston University without UCAS?
Ans. Yes, for most courses. Kingston’s direct-application portal is free, faster than UCAS, and lets you apply to one Kingston programme at a time. A handful of regulated courses (Nursing, Midwifery, some Allied Health) require UCAS submission only, so check your specific course page before choosing the route.
Ques. Does Kingston University accept Class XII English scores in place of IELTS?
Ans. Yes, for 2026 and 2027 intakes. Indian applicants scoring 70 to 80 percent in Class XII English from CBSE, CISCE, or recognised state boards can skip standardised English tests. This equates to IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 in Kingston’s mapping. Some higher-band courses (Nursing at IELTS 7.0) may still require a formal test.

- Each year only 8 students get this scholarship. By this I mean from the entire intake of that year only 8 students get the scholarship

Scholarship
- I was extremely disappointed as there were no scholarships issued to my class students.
- The website claimed there is international scholarship award worth 5000 pounds, but none of my friends received it. Also, I heard 1 or 2 people in my campus has got the 2000 pound scholarship.
- Out of the student enrollments there were hardly few people who were offered scholarship based on their home country, educational background and achievements.
