Kingston University London admissions run on a September primary intake with a smaller January entry for selected postgraduate programmes, and Indian applicants clear well-defined thresholds — Class XII at 60 to 65 percent for undergraduate entry (via UCAS) and a Bachelor’s at 60 percent or CGPA 6.0 for postgraduate entry (via Kingston’s direct portal), with IELTS 6.0 for UG and 6.5 for PG.

Kingston University London Eligibility for Indian Students
Kingston publishes India-specific entry thresholds, separating Class XII boards by name for undergraduate admission and setting a standard Bachelor’s floor for postgraduate. English proficiency floors are level-based, with waivers where an Indian applicant’s prior study confirms English-medium instruction.
- UG general entry: Class XII at 60 percent from CBSE, CISCE, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, or West Bengal boards.
- UG other state boards: Class XII at 65 percent overall.
- PG taught entry: Bachelor’s at 60 percent or CGPA 6.0 from a recognised Indian university, in a subject aligned to the chosen programme.
- PG competitive courses: some MSc and MA programmes require 65 percent (a UK 2:1 equivalent).
English proficiency evidence is required unless a waiver applies. Accepted tests and their institution-wide minimums:
| Test | UG Minimum | PG Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 overall, 5.5 in each band | 6.5 overall, 5.5 in each band |

Kingston IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Kingston may waive the IELTS requirement for Indian applicants whose Class XII English score meets Kingston’s published threshold, or for those whose Bachelor’s programme was taught wholly in English. A Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter from the awarding institution can be submitted with the application or at the conditional-offer stage.
Note: Programme-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Kingston University page for your chosen programme before applying.

Class XII cutoffs distinguish top Indian boards (60 percent) from other state boards (65 percent) — the higher floor absorbs marking-scheme differences.

Kingston University London MBA Admissions
Kingston Business School runs a one-year full-time MBA and an MBA with Professional Placement (typically 24 months including placement), both open to Indian applicants year-round on a rolling review basis. Base MBA tuition is GBP 25,000 (around INR 32.30 Lakhs) — refer to Kingston’s fees page for the placement-year charge and any deposit. The MBA with Professional Placement is the version Indian applicants select most often for PSW extension.
Kingston MBA Eligibility and Work Experience
- Full-time MBA: Bachelor’s degree at 60 percent plus a minimum of three years of relevant management experience.
- Applicants without a Bachelor’s: significant management experience plus a GMAT score of 600 or higher is required in place of the degree.
- Part-time or Online MBA: considerable work experience may substitute for an undergraduate degree in exceptional cases.
- English: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing (or equivalent).
Kingston MBA Interview and Decisions
Shortlisted candidates sit a one-to-one admissions interview (video or on-campus) with the MBA director, focused on career trajectory and post-MBA goals. Decisions typically issue within four weeks of a completed file. Self-funded applicants are auto-considered for the Kingston MBA Scholarship of GBP 5,000 (around INR 6.46 Lakhs) and the Kingston Impact Scholarship (two seats).
Note: Programme-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Kingston MBA page before applying.
Kingston PhD Admissions and Studentships
Kingston runs a research degree route across all four faculties: Business and Social Sciences, Engineering Computing and the Environment, Health Science Social Care and Education, and Kingston School of Art. Indian applicants apply directly to a supervisor with a full research proposal.
Kingston PhD Application Steps
- Identify a supervisor whose research area matches your proposal.
- Submit a research proposal of 1,500 to 2,000 words with methodology and timeline.
- Complete the Kingston research degree application with transcripts, CV, IELTS 6.5, and two academic references.
- Attend an interview (typically video) with the prospective supervisor and second reader.
Kingston PhD Studentships and Stipend
The Kingston PhD Studentship scheme funds up to 15 seats each cycle, covering home-rate tuition plus a stipend paid at the UKRI rate. The full-time doctoral stipend for the 2025 to 2026 academic year is GBP 22,780 (around INR 29.43 Lakhs) per year; other schemes provide GBP 11,000 (around INR 14.21 Lakhs) per year across three years. Refer to Kingston’s Scholarships page for the funding-for-Indian-students routes.
Insider note: A polished research proposal aligned to a named supervisor’s active grants raises studentship odds far more than raw academic marks. Reach out to the supervisor by email at least six months before applying.
Note: Programme-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Kingston PhD studentships page before applying.
Kingston University London Application Process
UG and PG applicants follow different routes: undergraduate through UCAS, postgraduate through Kingston’s direct online portal. Both close with a CAS request (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies — the sponsorship reference number needed for the UK Student Route visa) once the offer is accepted and the deposit paid.
- Register the application platform: UG applicants create a UCAS Hub profile (opens 12 May 2026 for the 2027 cycle, submissions from 1 September 2026); PG applicants register on the Kingston direct postgraduate portal.
- Pay the application fee: UG applicants pay the UCAS application fee of GBP 28.50 (around INR 3,682) on the UCAS portal; PG applicants pay no application fee to Kingston.
- Upload transcripts, English test report, personal statement, and one reference (UG) or two references (PG).
- Await the offer decision — Kingston aims for four to six weeks on a complete PG file.
- Accept the offer, pay the tuition deposit, and request your CAS (CAS request opens on 2 March 2026 for the September 2026 cohort; equivalent lead time applies to later cycles).
- Apply for the UK Student Route visa using the CAS reference (see visa section).
Kingston Admission Decisions Timeline
- Offer letters: issued within four to six weeks of a complete PG file; UCAS UG decisions arrive by the UCAS deadline windows.
- Offer acceptance: conditional offers require you to meet stated academic and English conditions before CAS issuance.
- Deferral: Kingston permits a one-year deferral in most cases if requested before the term start.
Kingston Documents Required for Indian Applicants
Documents are uploaded at application stage in PDF, with certified translations where applicable. The paperwork below covers the taught PG and UG routes; research applicants also submit a full research proposal.
- Passport bio-data page — valid for the full duration of study.
- Class X and Class XII certificates and mark sheets (UG applicants).
- Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate (PG applicants); provisional certificate accepted if final is pending.
- English test score report — IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or Duolingo, or an MOI letter where a waiver is claimed.
- Personal statement — up to 4,000 characters for UCAS UG or 500 to 800 words for PG.
- Reference letter — one academic reference for UG, two academic or professional for PG.
- CV or resume — required for PG applicants, especially for MBA and Business School routes.
- Work-experience letters on company letterhead for MBA and executive courses.
- Portfolio — required for Fashion, Fine Art, Design, and Architecture applicants.
- Financial proof, TB test certificate, and ATAS clearance (where applicable) are needed at the CAS and visa stages.
Kingston University London Acceptance Rate
Kingston does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. The rate is estimated at 20 to 30 percent, based on Indian-applicant conversion patterns across business and computing programmes and third-party admissions trackers. See Kingston’s ranking band for the QS World 2027 position (686) and subject-level standings.
Why the Kingston Rate Reads Moderately Selective
Kingston operates an access-oriented admissions model — it admits most Indian applicants who clear the stated Class XII or Bachelor’s cutoff plus English floor, with the visible tightening happening at competitive PG courses (Data Science, Cyber Security, MSc Psychology conversion) and portfolio-gated Fashion and Fine Art seats.
How Indian Applicants Should Read the Rate
Applying six to eight months before intake with a clean documentation file typically produces an offer within four to six weeks. The tightest bottleneck is the CAS and visa timeline, not the initial admission decision — most rejected Indian files are late applications rather than academic mismatches.
Insider note: Kingston’s International Success Support auto-applies a GBP 2,500 (around INR 3.23 Lakhs) tuition reduction on Year 1 for eligible Indian offer-holders with no separate form. Confirm eligibility on the offer email before paying the deposit.
United Kingdom Student Visa Process for Kingston
Indian applicants apply for the UK Student Route visa (which replaced Tier 4 in October 2020) using the CAS reference issued by Kingston. The visa is filed online at gov.uk, followed by biometrics at a VFS Global centre in India. Decisions typically take three weeks; a priority service returns decisions in five working days for an added fee.
Financial proof for study in London requires GBP 1,334 per month (around INR 1.72 Lakhs) for up to nine months — a total of GBP 12,006 (around INR 15.51 Lakhs) — held in the applicant’s or parent’s name for a continuous 28-day period ending no more than 31 days before the visa application. The visa fee is GBP 524 (updated 2026) plus an Immigration Health Surcharge of GBP 776 per year (around INR 1.00 Lakh). A TB test certificate from an IOM-approved clinic in India is mandatory. Post-arrival, register with the police within seven days if the visa vignette requires it (most students do not, since e-visa is now standard).
2026 update: The UK Graduate Route (Post-Study Work visa) continues to allow two years of unrestricted work after course completion for UG and PG graduates, and three years for PhD graduates — a decisive factor for Indian applicants weighing Kingston against non-PSW destinations.
Kingston University London Admissions Tips and Checklist
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Kingston University London — timing, sequencing, and the small decisions that raise offer conversion.
- Apply eight months out: submit your PG file by mid-January 2027 for September 2027 entry to leave buffer for CAS and visa.
- Use MOI where valid: an English-medium Bachelor’s plus a Kingston MOI letter often replaces IELTS and cuts three to four weeks off the timeline.
- Name a supervisor in PhD emails: generic PhD enquiries stall; supervisor-directed proposals move.
- Request transcripts 8 weeks ahead: Indian university registrars often take four to six weeks for certified copies — start early.
- Book IELTS or PTE by October 2026: January-cycle test slots fill fast; secure your slot two months before the deadline.
- Confirm scholarship eligibility before deposit: the International Success Support (GBP 2,500) and Kingston International Scholarship (GBP 5,000) apply automatically for eligible offer-holders.
- Start the 28-day fund lock 6 weeks before visa filing: UKVI rejects files where funds moved inside the 28-day window.
- Book biometrics on offer acceptance: VFS slots in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru fill fastest in June and July.
- Compare peers: Kingston sits close to peers like London Metropolitan University on fee bands; use the comparison to firm your choice.
Kingston University London admissions reward early, complete filings on the September primary intake, with UCAS handling UG and a fee-free direct portal handling PG — the January PG intake stays a secondary option for select courses through November 2026, and the September 2027 UCAS cycle is already open for submissions.

Scholarship
- I am not aware of any scholarships here in the UK, but in India, from my state, Telangana, I had a government overseas scholarship, but it will take years to get approved, and in my case, even after 2 years, it is still pending. You've got to have a lot of documents, all the usual scholarship documents, your semester results and also GRE and IELTS scores, even if they are not required by your university.
- I didn't even hear from any of my friends who applied for or took any scholarships.
