London Metropolitan University offers 14 scholarships, of which 8 are accessible to Indian applicants across UG, PG and PhD levels.

Values start at a £5,000 (INR 6.45 Lakhs) automatic tuition cut. The top-end package fully funds tuition, London accommodation and paid flights.

  • Standard PG tuition (2026/27): £20,000 (INR 25.79 Lakhs) for MBA, MS Data Analytics or MS Public Health.
  • With the £5,000 International Bright Futures waiver: £15,000 (INR 19.34 Lakhs) net for one year.
  • With Bright Futures plus 5% Early Payment Discount: £14,250 (INR 18.37 Lakhs), the highest stack most Indian applicants secure without competing.
  • Next major deadline: 6 October 2026 at 4:30 pm IST for Chevening 2027-28.

Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 GBP = INR 128.94 as of August 2026. "Tuition reduction" cuts the fee stated on your CAS letter; "stipend" is paid monthly to the student’s UK bank account.

London Metropolitan University Scholarships for UG Students

Four London Metropolitan University awards apply to undergraduate Indian applicants for the 2026/27 September or January intake.

Sanctuary ScholarshipFull tuition plus support packageApplicants unable to access funding due to immigration statusSeparate written applicationTentative 31 July 2026 (annual cycle)

The £5,000 Bright Futures cut is the workhorse award for BS Computer Science (£19,500 tuition), BA Business Management and the BSc courses at Holloway. It reduces the CAS fee automatically once your offer converts to unconditional, so no essay is needed. Bright Futures blocks combination with any other institutional award. Only the 5% Early Payment Discount can layer on top when tuition is paid upfront before enrolment.

The South Asia Bright Future award is a region-specific alternative for citizens of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. The value is course-specific and set inside the offer letter fee summary. Applicants pick whichever award produces the larger cut on their programme, since the two do not stack.

Review the London Metropolitan University admissions timeline and offer stages before mapping the scholarship route.

London Metropolitan University Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students

Five London Metropolitan University postgraduate awards are open to Indian master’s applicants, with values from £4,000 to full tuition.

Sanctuary Scholarship (PG)Full tuition plus support packageApplicants unable to access funding due to immigration statusSeparate written applicationTentative 31 July 2026 (annual cycle)

The International Excellence PG award is the flagship merit route for Indian master’s applicants at this university. Six £4,000 tuition awards run each cycle, plus up to four accommodation awards. Eligible nationalities include India, USA, Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The IELTS 7.5 overall bar rules out most applicants sitting on 6.5 to 7.0 scores. Confirm that your Indian bachelor’s grade of 75% or 8.0 CGPA is on the transcript before the notification date.

Reddit Insight: Indian applicants who target the September intake consistently do better than January intake applicants on this award. Only six tuition awards are issued per cycle. Filing within the first two weeks of the window materially raises the odds against that fixed pool.

The £5,000 Bright Futures award is the safer path if you cannot meet the first-class bar. It requires no essay and reduces the MBA, MS Data Analytics and MS International Accounting and Finance tuition (each £20,000) to £15,000 (INR 19.34 Lakhs). The 5% Early Payment Discount then layers on for a further roughly £750 (INR 0.97 Lakhs) saved.

India-Specific Scholarships at London Metropolitan University

Two London Metropolitan University awards target Indian citizens directly, one automatic and one bundling tuition with accommodation.

ScholarshipValue (GBP / INR)EligibilityApplicationDeadline (IST)
International Students House (ISH) and London Met PG ScholarshipFull tuition + guaranteed central London accommodation + return flights, up to 4 awards worth roughly £34,000 (INR 43.84 Lakhs) combinedIndian citizens holding a full-time master’s offer at London MetSeparate ISH online application with essays and referenceTentative 15 June 2026 (annual, September 2026 intake)
South Asia Bright Future ScholarshipPartial tuition reduction, course-specific valueIndian, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Pakistani or Sri Lankan UG and PG applicantsAutomatic on offer letterRolling

The ISH and London Met scheme is the highest-value award available to an Indian citizen at this university. The combined package clears roughly £34,000 (INR 43.84 Lakhs) over one academic year. It covers £20,000 tuition on a taught master’s, guaranteed ISH accommodation near Regent’s Park, plus paid return economy flights. Only four awards run each cycle, and shortlisted candidates sit an interview with ISH selectors.

Selection weights leadership evidence through community, professional or research work in India. It also weights a defined post-study intent to return and apply the master’s outcome. Academic marks matter, though a first-class bachelor’s is not a firm cut-off. Application essays draw heavily on ISH’s mission themes of intercultural exchange and social impact.

Reddit Insight: The ISH deadline closes months before the LMU academic session starts. Indian applicants routinely miss the window by finalising their unconditional offer too late. Filing the LMU application by early May keeps this route viable for the September 2026 cohort.

London Metropolitan University PhD Scholarships

London Metropolitan University does not run a dedicated PhD scholarship line for international students at present.

Indian PhD applicants at Holloway and Aldgate typically fund the research programme through three routes. The first is external Indian government funding via the National Overseas Scholarship for SC and ST candidates or the JN Tata Endowment loan-scholarship. The second is UK-side Commonwealth PhD Scholarship funding, though eligibility for India remains narrow year to year. The third is an ad hoc graduate teaching assistant role offered by individual research centres. That role trades tutoring hours for a partial fee waiver.

Confirm the current PhD funding position directly with the London Met Doctoral School before submitting a research proposal. Offers move with the annual research budget cycle and the university’s REF submission strategy. Cross-reference current research area listings against external funding themes before finalising the proposal topic.

External Government Scholarships for London Metropolitan University Students

Two UK government-linked scholarships apply to Indian master’s applicants at this university: Chevening and the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship.

ScholarshipValue (GBP / INR)EligibilityApplicationDeadline (IST)
Chevening Scholarship 2027-28Full tuition + £1,134 (INR 1.46 Lakhs) monthly London stipend + return flights, roughly £50,000 (INR 64.47 Lakhs) totalIndian citizen, 2+ years work experience, three UK master’s offers within eight months of selectionChevening online portal6 October 2026, 4:30 pm IST
Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship 2027-28Full tuition + monthly stipend + flights + arrival allowanceIndian citizen, upper second-class bachelor’s (2:1), one-year taught master’s at any UK university (MBAs excluded)CSC Central portal plus SAKSHAT portal in parallelTentative 16 October 2026 (annual cycle)

Chevening covers full tuition at LMU for any taught master’s course. MBA programmes carry a £22,000 (INR 28.37 Lakhs) cap, which fits the LMU MBA fee of £20,000 with room to spare. The London monthly rate of £1,134 (INR 1.46 Lakhs) applies here, since Holloway and Aldgate sit inside the London Zone. Applicants need three unconditional offers for different UK master’s courses before the March 2027 conditional stage.

The Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship covers a one-year taught programme at any UK university. An LMU MA Global Resource Management or MS Public Health application is eligible. MBA courses fall outside the scheme, so an LMU MBA candidate should route through Chevening instead. The award covers full economy return airfare from India, a monthly stipend at similar levels, and a small thesis grant.

  • What Chevening covers: full tuition (MBA capped at £22,000 / INR 28.37 Lakhs), monthly London stipend, return flights, arrival allowance and visa fees.
  • What Commonwealth Master’s covers: full tuition, monthly stipend, return flights, thesis grant plus arrival and departure allowance.
  • What neither covers: IELTS test fee, UK health surcharge on the visa (IHS) and personal expenses above the stipend.

London Metropolitan University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. What is the maximum scholarship stack an Indian student can secure at London Metropolitan University?

Ans. The maximum institutional stack pairs £5,000 International Bright Futures with a 5% Early Payment Discount. That cuts a £20,000 (INR 25.79 Lakhs) PG fee to £14,250 (INR 18.37 Lakhs) for one year. Bright Futures blocks pairing with the £4,000 International Excellence PG award, so applicants pick one merit path. When won instead, Chevening or the Commonwealth Master’s award delivers full tuition plus a £1,134 (INR 1.46 Lakhs) London stipend each month.

Ques. When should Indian applicants apply for London Metropolitan University scholarships?

Ans. Chevening 2027-28 closes 6 October 2026 at 4:30 pm IST through the Chevening portal. The Commonwealth Master’s application closes tentatively 16 October 2026 via the SAKSHAT portal for the same intake year. The London Met Excellence PG award for the Jan 2027 intake has a tentative 31 October 2026 deadline. Bright Futures applies automatically at the CAS stage, so no separate deadline is set for it.

Ques. Which London Metropolitan University scholarships require a separate application?

Ans. Three London Metropolitan University scholarships need a separate application from the applicant. The International Excellence PG award uses a form sent to international@londonmet.ac.uk. The ISH scholarship route uses its own online portal with essays plus a reference letter. The Sanctuary Scholarship needs a written case demonstrating immigration status. Bright Futures, South Asia Bright Future and the Early Payment Discount all apply automatically once the applicant holds an unconditional offer with overseas fee status.

Ques. What degree class and IELTS score are needed for the International Excellence PG Scholarship?

Ans. Applicants need a first-class bachelor’s, meaning an Indian equivalent of 75% or 8.0 CGPA. That grade must appear on transcripts before the notification date. IELTS 7.5 overall is required, with no individual band below 7.0. An unconditional offer letter for a full-time master’s at Holloway or Aldgate is a further prerequisite. Six tuition prizes are issued each cycle across all eligible schools.

Ques. How does the ISH and London Met Postgraduate Scholarship work for Indian citizens?

Ans. This award gives up to four Indian citizens free tuition and paid return flights. Winners also get a bed at the ISH property near Regent’s Park. The bundle is worth around £34,000 (INR 43.84 Lakhs) over the taught master’s year. Selection weights community-service evidence, financial need and a defined post-study intent over pure academic rank. Shortlisted applicants sit an interview with ISH selectors before the final award.

Ques. Does any London Metropolitan University scholarship cover London rent?

Ans. Only one LMU award covers London rent directly. The ISH scheme provides guaranteed housing at the residence near Regent’s Park in central London. Chevening pays £1,134 (INR 1.46 Lakhs) per month at the London rate, which covers a shared room in Zone 2 or Zone 3 near Holloway. Bright Futures cuts tuition only and does not touch living costs, so budget £900 to £1,200 (INR 1.16 to 1.55 Lakhs) monthly for private rent.

  • The best method to find accommodation in Ireland is via WhatsApp groups, facebook groups or DAFT. ie. The monthly rental is not easy to define, as it depends on the location & type of the room. If a student wants a single room in Galway, it would cost around 600-700 EUR per month.
  • If the same single room is needed in Dublin, then it might cost around 800-900 EUR per month. The sharing room cost would be less by around 100-125 EUR per month.

My reasons were to go for the cheapest options as I wanted to sponsor my education on my own. Overall was good, I learned a lot and made some awesome friends. To be honest I was an average student with not much corporate Industry experience, getting a UK visa was easier for me as it's an English-speaking country with lots of opportunities and easier to get access for friends and family. Talking about the extracurricular opportunities there are a lot of options available to go for outings and do sporting events which I really enjoy exploring.
