University of East London admissions run on a rolling three-intake cycle (September, January, May), and the university admits Indian students who meet a UK 2:2 or 50 to 55% bachelor’s floor for postgraduate courses and 60 to 70% in Class XII for most undergraduate degrees.

  • Next live deadline: 31 July 2026 for the September 2026 primary intake.
  • Class XII 60 to 70% for UG and Bachelor’s at 50 to 55% (UK 2:2 equivalent) for PG, with IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 for PG or 5.5 to 6.0 for UG.
  • Estimated acceptance rate of 55 to 65%, based on published third-party admission trend patterns; UEL does not publish an official institutional figure.

Indian applicants most often enrol in MSc Computer Science, MSc Data Science, MSc International Business Management, and the one-year MBA at the Docklands campus, and reviews from Indian cohorts point to strong placement support and hands-on teaching. See the broader University of East London overview for campus, ranking, and placement context.

Admission Status: Closing Soon. The September 2026 primary intake closes on 31 July 2026 for most taught courses. Postgraduate applications are free through the UEL Applicant Portal, and undergraduate applicants pay the UCAS application fee of £28.95 (around ₹3,692). January 2027 and May 2027 intakes accept rolling applications for a shortlist of programmes.

University of East London IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

UEL publishes a set of exemptions on its English language requirements page. Indian applicants who studied their Class XII (HSC) in English medium in Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, or a Seven Sisters state, and who meet the HSC English percentage the university publishes, can be considered without IELTS. Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree entirely taught and assessed in English can request an MOI waiver from the admissions team on a case-by-case basis. A short pre-sessional English course (5 to 11 weeks) is also offered to applicants sitting slightly below the course English floor.

University of East London MBA Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 50 to 55%, or a UK 2:2 equivalent, in any discipline from a recognised university.
  • GMAT or GRE: Not mandatory; admission decisions rest on the personal statement, transcripts, and, where relevant, work experience.
  • Work experience: Not required for the standard full-time MBA; the Executive MBA variant asks for prior managerial experience.
  • English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 overall with 6.0 in each of Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking; TOEFL iBT 90 or PTE Academic 59 accepted.

University of East London Application Process for Indian Students

UEL runs two separate application channels: UCAS for undergraduate applicants and the UEL Applicant Portal for postgraduate and MBA applicants. The process is fully online, and the first offer usually reaches Indian applicants within 10 business days of a complete submission.

  1. Shortlist a programme on the UEL course finder and confirm the entry requirements listed on that programme’s page.
  2. Create a UCAS account (for UG) or register on the UEL Applicant Portal (for PG and MBA).
  3. Complete the online form: personal details, education history, English test score, and any programme-specific prerequisites.
  4. Upload documents: transcripts, degree certificate or provisional letter, passport, personal statement, and reference letters.
  5. Pay the application fee of £28.95 (around ₹3,692) for undergraduate submissions on UCAS; PG applications on the UEL Applicant Portal carry no application fee.
  6. Track your application and respond to any admissions team follow-up promptly, especially any conditional offer clarifications.
  7. Accept your offer, pay the tuition deposit, and receive your CAS letter to begin the UK Student Route visa application.

University of East London Admission Decisions and Offer Timeline

Conditional offers list any pending items — usually final transcripts, an English test score, or a bank statement. Once conditions are met and the deposit is paid, UEL issues the CAS letter, generally within 5 to 10 working days. Deferrals are handled case-by-case; a deferred offer for one full academic year is normally accepted for standard taught programmes.

University of East London Documents Required for Indian Applicants

Assemble the paperwork before you begin the application form. Indian applicants should keep clear scans (colour, 300 dpi) of every document and hold at least one certified copy of each transcript.

  • Valid Indian passport (data page).
  • Class X and Class XII certificates and mark sheets.
  • Certified bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate (for PG applicants) or a provisional certificate.
  • English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic), or MOI letter if applying under an English medium waiver.
  • Personal statement or statement of purpose tailored to the UEL programme.
  • Two academic or professional references on official letterhead.
  • Updated CV covering education, projects, work, and any research or leadership roles.
  • Passport-size photograph in the format the portal requests.
  • Work experience letters (MBA applicants only, if applicable).
  • Portfolio or audition (Architecture, Design, and select Creative Industries programmes).

University of East London Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

UEL does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party admission trend estimates put the acceptance rate at 55 to 65% for the university as a whole, with graduate programmes typically running 53 to 56% and undergraduate programmes closer to 60 to 75%. UEL’s ranking band and open-access mission both track with this profile.

What Drives the University of East London Acceptance Rate

UEL positions itself as an access-oriented institution — meaning it admits most Indian applicants who meet its stated academic and English requirements, rather than shortlisting the top slice of a competitive pool. Nursing, Psychology, and Occupational Therapy tighten the funnel with additional band-score, DBS, and interview conditions.

How Indian Applicants Can Strengthen the University of East London Application

Meet the English floor at the first attempt, keep transcripts and reference letters ready to submit within 3 to 5 days of any admissions request, and align the personal statement to a specific pathway on the programme page — vague statements are the most common cause of an application being held.

The University of East London admissions pathway is designed to be workable for Indian applicants who clear the 2:2 or Class XII 60 to 70% floor, meet the English score, and file early in the rolling September or January window.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received the scholarship for my course, which is masters in cloud computing. The name of the scholarship is the student scholarship, which is specifically for the international student. That means you will only be eligible for that scholarship when you are an international student.
  • I received the scholarship of 1500 pounds from the university.
  • Yes, other batchmates also get that if you are applying by time, then most probably you will get the good scholarship.
  • More than 200 students get a typical award amount of $900–$1200 in between.

Overview

It was a great experience because it was the first time I went abroad to study. I met hundreds of different countries people and learnt a lot from them. There is one sports club as well in the University, which attracted me more to get admission in the University because they are sending people to national and international clubs from there.
