Manchester Metropolitan University Application Deadlines 2026-27
Manchester Metropolitan University runs two intakes each year, and the September intake is the primary window where most postgraduate and every undergraduate programme opens for Indian students. The January intake is smaller and covers 19 taught postgraduate programmes. Deadlines below follow the official January 2027 entry page and the postgraduate how-to-apply guidance.

Manchester Met processes postgraduate applications on a rolling basis and issues most decisions within two to six weeks. Popular courses can close early if intake caps fill, so Indian applicants should target 12 to 16 weeks before the start date to leave time for CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) and visa steps.
Planning note: Manchester Met’s September 2026 UCAS equal-consideration date passed on 14 January 2026, so undergraduate Indian applicants for September 2026 now need to route through UCAS Clearing. For a clean shot at your top course, apply for the September 2027 cycle before 14 January 2027.

Manchester Metropolitan University MBA for Indian Students
The Manchester Metropolitan University MBA is a one-year, full-time, AMBA-accredited programme aimed at experienced managers. Fees for 2026-27 sit at roughly GBP 22,500 (INR 28.76 Lakhs), and CIM- or CMI-affiliated pathways are open through the same intake.

- GMAT/GRE not required by default; strong scores can strengthen a borderline case
Manchester Met MBA Deadlines and Rounds
Manchester Met runs the MBA on a rolling admissions basis for the September 2026 primary intake, with applications closing by mid-August 2026. Applicants may be invited to a short online interview covering career motivation, leadership incidents, and MBA fit.
Insider note: Manchester Met accepts substantial senior-management experience (typically five years plus) as a substitute for a Bachelor’s in exceptional cases. This is confirmed with the admissions team on a case-by-case basis before submitting the application.
Note: MBA fee, dates, and interview requirements can change year to year — confirm on the official Manchester Met Business School page before submitting your application.
Manchester Metropolitan University PhD for Indian Students
Manchester Metropolitan University offers PhD, MPhil, and Professional Doctorate research degrees across three fee bands published on the official PhD fees page. Bands reflect the research resources each project needs, and Indian applicants are eligible for both self-funded routes and university-linked studentships.
Manchester Met PhD Fees and Bands for 2026-27
- Band 1 (English, Languages, Humanities): GBP 20,000 per year (INR 25.56 Lakhs)
- Band 2 (Social Sciences, Business): GBP 22,500 per year (INR 28.76 Lakhs)
- Band 3 (Life Sciences, Engineering, lab-based): GBP 27,000 per year (INR 34.51 Lakhs)
- Part-time fees are half the full-time band; funding options on the funding for Indian students page
Manchester Met PhD Application Timeline
The January 2027 PhD deadline of 19 June 2026 has closed. Indian applicants should now target the September 2027 entry, with applications typically opening October 2026 and rolling through mid-2027. A doctoral training partnership (White Rose DTP, North West Consortium DTP) offers full fees plus a stipend of about GBP 15,000 (around INR 19.17 Lakhs) per year in 2025-26.
Planning note: Manchester Met asks Indian PhD applicants to secure a supervisor’s informal support before the formal application. Emailing 2 to 3 target academics with a two-page research proposal saves weeks of back-and-forth later.
Manchester Metropolitan University Application Process for Indian Students
Manchester Metropolitan University uses two distinct application routes: UCAS for undergraduate courses and its own direct portal for postgraduate taught and research programmes. Indian applicants complete the same steps as any international candidate, with a few country-specific documents added on.
Step-by-step Manchester Met Application
- Choose your course and check the eligibility, subject prerequisites, and English floor on the course page.
- Undergraduate: register on UCAS at ucas.com and add up to five course choices. UCAS charges its own service fee of GBP 28.50 (around INR 3,643) — this is UCAS’s charge, not Manchester Met’s, and Manchester Met itself does not charge an application fee.
- Postgraduate: register on the Manchester Met postgraduate portal at sm-portal-mmu.thesiscloud.com, upload documents, and submit. No MMU application fee applies.
- Attach the personal statement (450 to 500 words) covering motivation, career goals, and course fit.
- Upload proof of English, transcripts, degree certificate (or interim), CV, and passport bio page.
- Track your application on the same portal and respond within seven days if the university asks for more documents.
- Accept the offer and pay the GBP 5,000 tuition deposit (around INR 6.39 Lakhs) — this is credited to your Year 1 tuition, not an extra charge.
- Receive your CAS from Manchester Met within four to six weeks of the deposit clearing.
- Apply for the UK Student Visa at least eight weeks before travel.
Manchester Metropolitan University Admission Decisions
Manchester Met issues most postgraduate decisions within two to six weeks of a complete submission. Undergraduate decisions from equal-consideration UCAS applicants arrive by mid-May of the entry year.
- Conditional offers depend on final Class XII or Bachelor’s grades and English test
- Unconditional offers issued once all conditions are met; deposit payment locks the place
- Deferral to the next intake is granted once, subject to admissions team approval
- Acceptance deadline is typically 28 days from the offer letter date

Manchester Metropolitan University Documents Required for Indian Students
Manchester Metropolitan University asks Indian applicants for a compact document set. Documents should be scanned in colour, in English, and self-attested. The paperwork list below is separate from the academic and English thresholds covered in the Eligibility section.
- Passport bio-data page (valid for the full course duration plus 6 months)
- Class X and Class XII mark sheets and pass certificates
- Bachelor’s degree certificate and consolidated transcript (for postgraduate)
- English proficiency score report (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE) or Class XII English mark sheet for waiver
- Personal statement of 450 to 500 words
- Updated CV listing academic, extracurricular, and work highlights
- Two academic references (or one academic plus one work reference for MBA)
- Portfolio (for Architecture, Design, Fine Art, Filmmaking applicants)
- Work experience letter (for MBA, HRM, Project Management applicants)
- Research proposal and supervisor confirmation email (for PhD applicants)
- TB test certificate from an IOM-approved clinic in India
- Financial statement covering first-year tuition plus GBP 12,006 (around INR 15.34 Lakhs) living costs for the visa stage
Manchester Metropolitan University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
Manchester Metropolitan University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place it at 70 to 80%, based on Manchester Met’s post-92 access-oriented model, meaning it admits most applicants who meet its stated academic and English requirements. The ranking band supports this: Manchester Met is a broad-access university, not a highly selective research one.
Which Manchester Met Courses Are Harder to Enter?
Selection tightens sharply for a few professional and portfolio-heavy programmes. Class XII grades over 75%, portfolio strength, and English scores at the top of the required range help here.
- BSc Nursing (Adult, Mental Health, Child) — capped intake and interviews
- BSc Physiotherapy — capped placements and DBS check
- Law LLB and LLM — competitive on Bachelor’s grade
- MA Architecture and MArch — portfolio-driven shortlist
What Improves Your Manchester Met Application?
The India admissions team weighs subject-fit and English proof strongly. A 65% Bachelor’s in the right discipline reads better than a 70% Bachelor’s in an unrelated field.
Insider note: Manchester Met’s India recruitment team runs open days and video interviews across major Indian cities each autumn. Attending one is not required but often speeds up personalised decisions on borderline profiles.
UK Student Visa for Indian Applicants
Indian applicants to Manchester Metropolitan University need the UK Student Visa (formerly Tier 4). This is granted by UK Visas and Immigration once you hold a valid CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from Manchester Met. The visa fee is GBP 524 (around INR 66,972) plus the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) of GBP 776 (INR 99,180) per year of study — the IHS pays for your NHS access. Applicants must show tuition for Year 1 plus GBP 12,006 (INR 15.34 Lakhs) in maintenance funds for study in Manchester, held for 28 consecutive days.
Priority processing typically returns a decision within five working days. Book your UK Student Visa biometric appointment at a VFS centre in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, or another metro. Manchester Met’s international support team helps with CAS queries and pre-departure briefings for admitted Indian students.
2026 update: The UK Graduate Route stays in place for 2026-27 entry. Manchester Met graduates can stay in the UK for two years post-degree (three for PhD graduates) to work at any skill level. Confirm the current policy on the UK Home Office site before you plan post-study work.

Tips for Manchester Metropolitan University Admissions
The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Manchester Metropolitan University over recent intakes.
- Use the IELTS waiver if your Class XII English is 70% (CBSE/CISCE) — it saves GBP 200 (around INR 25,562) and 6 weeks
- Apply for the September intake even if you plan to arrive in January — the primary intake carries the widest programme choice
- Target Bachelor’s-relevant courses: MMU rates subject-fit over raw percentage, so a related 60% degree beats an unrelated 70% one
- Pay the GBP 5,000 deposit early to get your CAS faster and reduce visa timing pressure
- Auto-considered scholarships: the International Merit Scholarship of GBP 2,500 (around INR 3.20 Lakhs) is automatic — no separate form
- Book the TB test at an IOM-approved clinic before the visa application; it is mandatory for Indian applicants residing 6+ months in India

Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. Does Manchester Metropolitan University charge an application fee for Indian students?
Ans. No. Manchester Met does not charge a direct application fee for postgraduate applications through its own portal. UCAS charges its own fee of GBP 28.50 (around INR 3,643) for undergraduate applications, but this is a UCAS service charge, not a Manchester Met fee.
Ques. What is the minimum Class XII percentage for Manchester Metropolitan University undergraduate entry?
Ans. Manchester Met typically asks for 70 to 75% in Class XII, with the exact figure depending on the Indian state board and the course subject prerequisites. Nursing and Physiotherapy sit at 75% plus, with an interview.
Ques. Can I skip IELTS with my Class XII English marks at Manchester Metropolitan University?
Ans. Yes. CBSE and CISCE students with 70% in English, and Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, or West Bengal state board students with 80% in English, qualify for the IELTS waiver at Manchester Met for both undergraduate and postgraduate entry.
Ques. When is the Manchester Metropolitan University September 2026 postgraduate deadline?
Ans. Manchester Met’s postgraduate applications for the September 2026 primary intake close in mid-August 2026, on a rolling basis. Popular courses can fill earlier, so Indian applicants should submit by mid-July 2026 to give CAS and visa steps enough time.
Ques. How much is the tuition deposit at Manchester Metropolitan University?
Ans. The tuition deposit is GBP 5,000 (around INR 6.39 Lakhs). It is not an extra charge — it is credited toward your Year 1 tuition once you enrol, and it is required before Manchester Met issues your CAS for the UK Student Visa.
Ques. What is the acceptance rate at Manchester Metropolitan University?
Ans. Manchester Met does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates put it at 70 to 80%, based on the university’s broad-access post-92 model, which admits most applicants who meet the published academic and English requirements.
Ques. Does Manchester Metropolitan University need GMAT or GRE for the MBA?
Ans. No. Manchester Met’s MBA does not require GMAT or GRE by default. Three years of professional work experience and a strong personal statement carry the shortlist. A GMAT above 600 can help borderline profiles or applicants with a sub-55% Bachelor’s.
Ques. Which intake is the primary one at Manchester Metropolitan University for Indian students?
Ans. September is the primary intake at Manchester Met. Every undergraduate programme and most postgraduate programmes open here. January is a secondary intake covering 19 postgraduate taught programmes, mainly in business, healthcare, and technology.
Ques. Do Indian students get scholarships at Manchester Metropolitan University automatically?
Ans. Yes. Indian applicants are auto-assessed for the International Merit Scholarship of GBP 2,500 (around INR 3.20 Lakhs) on their tuition. No separate scholarship form is needed. Larger, competitive subject scholarships in business and law require a short additional statement.
Ques. How long does Manchester Metropolitan University take to decide on postgraduate applications?
Ans. Manchester Met issues most postgraduate decisions within two to six weeks of a complete application. Timelines stretch during the July to August peak. Missing documents or references are the main slowdowns, so Indian applicants should upload the full pack in one go.
Ques. What English tests does Manchester Metropolitan University accept besides IELTS?
Ans. Manchester Met accepts TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic/UKVI, Cambridge English (B2, C1, C2), LanguageCert Academic, Duolingo English Test (except for Architecture), Oxford ELLT, Trinity ISE, iTEP, and NCUK, plus Class XII English marks from Indian boards for the waiver.
Ques. Can I switch my Manchester Metropolitan University offer from September to January?
Ans. Yes, subject to your course being offered in the January intake and admissions team approval. Manchester Met permits a one-time deferral once conditions are met. Ask the international team by email before paying your deposit if you need this flexibility.
