NIT Rourkela Ph.D Management Studies: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates need a valid UGC NET (Management) score or a GATE score in the XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) paper to be eligible for the PhD in Management Studies at NIT Rourkela. These scores are also mandatory for Institute Fellowship eligibility. Shortlisted candidates are called for a written test or personal interview conducted by the School of Management’s doctoral research committee.

Ans. The total academic fee for a minimum 3-year PhD is INR 3,42,000, comprising INR 67,000 for Semester 1, INR 2,72,500 across Semesters 2 to 6 at INR 54,500 per semester, and a one-time admission fee of INR 2,500. SC/ST scholars pay INR 59,000 in Semester 1 and INR 47,000 in each subsequent semester. The Institute Fellowship of INR 37,000 per month significantly offsets these academic costs.

Ans. PhD scholars admitted with a valid UGC NET or GATE XH score are eligible for the NIT Rourkela Institute Fellowship, which pays INR 37,000 per month during the first two years (JRF tenure) and INR 42,000 per month from the third year onward (SRF tenure). UGC NET-JRF qualified candidates can also bring their UGC fellowship to NIT Rourkela, credited directly through the university.

Ans. Ans. NIT Rourkela conducts PhD admissions twice a year for the Autumn semester starting around July and the Spring semester starting around January. For the Autumn 2026-27 batch, applications were open from April 12 to May 11, 2026, with class commencement on July 20, 2026. Candidates who miss one cycle may apply in the subsequent semester, subject to seat availability and eligibility at the time of application.
