GGU Bilaspur Admission Dates 2026

GGU 2026 admissions run on three parallel tracks. B.Tech seats fill through JEE Main via JoSAA and CSAB. All 27 UG programmes admit through CUET UG scores on the Samarth portal. M.Tech seats are allotted through GATE scores via CCMT. No separate GGU entrance test exists for any programme.

GGU Bilaspur Courses and Fees

GGU offers over 100 programmes spanning UG, PG, integrated, and doctoral levels. The fee structure is among the most affordable for a NAAC A++ accredited central university in India. Total fee figures below are for the entire programme duration, sourced from the 2026 fee schedule.

GGU’s B.Sc (Forensic Science) is among the few government-university Forensic Science UG programmes in central India. B.Sc (Rural Technology) and B.Sc (Forestry) are unique to GGU and are not offered at most universities in Chhattisgarh.

GGU Bilaspur Admission Process

GGU runs a fully centralised, exam-score-based admission process. There is no management quota, NRI quota, or direct admission route. All seats across all programmes fill through merit in centralised counselling.

B.Tech Admission Process

Admission to all 570 B.Tech seats at GGU is through JEE Main rank alone. GGU does not conduct any separate engineering entrance test.

• Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Minimum 50% aggregate (SC/ST/PwD: 45%).
• Selection: JEE Main rank determines seat allotment through JoSAA (6 rounds) followed by CSAB Special Rounds for remaining seats.
• Central reservation norms apply: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, PwD 5% horizontal.
• No separate GGU application form. Candidates register on JoSAA only.

JEE Main closing ranks at GGU vary by branch and category. CSE and IT branches close at the most competitive ranks among GGU branches. Chemical and Industrial Engineering typically have more seats available in later CSAB rounds.

UG Admission Process (CUET Route)

All 27 non-B.Tech UG programmes at GGU admit through CUET UG scores on the Samarth portal. Appearing in CUET alone is insufficient. Candidates must separately register on the GGU Samarth portal after CUET results are declared.

• Eligibility: 10+2 from a recognised board. Minimum 50% for most programmes (45% for BBA, lower thresholds for law-integrated programmes).
• Age limit: 22 years for most UG programmes. D.Pharm has a cap of 25 years.
• Counselling registration fee: INR 300 on the Samarth portal.
• Offline counselling at the GGU Bilaspur campus is mandatory for all CUET-route UG admissions.

PG Admission Process

MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, and M.Ed admit through CUET PG scores via GGU Samarth portal. M.Tech seats are allotted through CCMT based entirely on GATE scores. No separate GGU PG entrance test is conducted.

• Eligibility for MA, M.Sc, M.Com: Relevant Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% (SC/ST: 45%).
• Eligibility for MBA: Graduation in any stream with minimum 50% (SC/ST: 45%).
• Eligibility for M.Tech: B.Tech or B.E. with minimum 50% and a valid GATE score. Candidates register on CCMT and fill GGU M.Tech branches as preferences.

Ph.D Admission Process

Ph.D admissions are handled directly by GGU. Candidates holding a UGC-NET JRF or GATE fellowship are admitted without a separate entrance test. Others appear in the GGU Ph.D entrance examination held at the campus.

GGU Bilaspur Placements

GGU placement activity is strongest for B.Tech, particularly in CSE, AI and Data Science, and IT branches. The Training and Placement Cell coordinates campus drives for engineering students. Non-engineering UG and PG graduates primarily enter government service, competitive exam preparation, and the open job market.

The 2024 B.Tech placement season placed 372 students out of 572, a placement rate of 65%. The NIRF-reported median package for the 2023 to 2024 batch stood at INR 4.50 LPA. PG students recorded a median of INR 4.00 LPA, with 147 of 1,014 PG students placed through campus drives.

Confirmed campus recruiters for GGU B.Tech include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, HCL, Cognizant, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, L and T, and Accenture. Pharma graduates have placed with Cipla and Sun Pharma, among others. As a government central university, GGU attracts students who combine campus placements with UPSC, state PSC, and government sector aspirations. A portion of B.Tech graduates also pursue M.Tech through GATE or higher studies.

GGU Bilaspur Rankings

GGU holds verified NIRF rankings in multiple categories in 2025, with Pharmacy as its strongest-ranked school. The university also features in Collegedunia rankings across six discipline streams for 2026.

GGU’s Pharmacy school leads the university’s ranking profile nationally. The Education school ranks first among all Chhattisgarh universities as per Collegedunia 2026. The Engineering school’s NIRF band of 151 to 200 reflects its position in the broader national engineering landscape, with central university status and JoSAA access attracting a competitive intake cohort.

GGU Bilaspur Scholarships

GGU does not run an independent merit scholarship fund. Students are eligible for multiple central and state government scholarship schemes, which significantly reduce the effective cost at GGU’s already-affordable fee levels.

All government scholarship applications go through the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in. GGU verifies applications and coordinates with the portal for disbursal.

GGU Bilaspur Campus and Infrastructure

The GGU campus occupies 655 acres in Koni, Bilaspur, 4 km from Bilaspur city centre. The campus is fully residential, with academic blocks, administrative buildings, hostels, a sports complex, and research facilities within the boundary.

Separate hostel blocks are available for male and female students. The central library holds a large collection of books, journals, and digital resources, and is a designated UGC-NDL access point. Smart classrooms are operational across engineering and science schools. The university has a dedicated Teaching Learning Centre.

The Institute of Technology, housing B.Tech programmes, operates as a constituent unit within the GGU campus. Labs for CSE, Electronics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Forensic Science, and Pharmacy are in dedicated buildings. The Law School and School of Management occupy separate blocks within the campus.

GGU Bilaspur vs Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya vs PRSU Raipur

Aspirants from Chhattisgarh and central India often compare GGU with Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (HSG), Sagar, another central university in the region, and Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, the flagship state university of Chhattisgarh. All three are multi-discipline public universities serving a similar applicant pool.

GGU leads on NAAC grade, campus size, and NIRF band among the three. HSG Sagar offers a comparable central-university environment and JoSAA B.Tech access in Madhya Pradesh. PRSU Raipur has the advantage of being in the state capital with stronger state government sector links, but does not offer B.Tech. Aspirants prioritising research infrastructure and central government scholarship access favour GGU or HSG.
