Should you pick the Executive MBA at DTU?

This course suits working people who want an MBA without leaving their job and can reach north-west Delhi every weekend.

Pick it if:
You work in tech or engineering: DTU is best known for engineering, where NIRF ranks it #30, so the name is familiar in tech firms.
You cannot leave your job: classes are on Saturday and Sunday, so your weekday work stays as it is.
You have no CAT score: DTU picks this batch on degree marks, work years and a personal interview, with no entrance exam.
Your degree marks are near the line: the rule is 50%, and SC, ST and PwD students need only 45%.
Skip it if:
You want a big management name: Collegedunia ranks DTU #103 for MBA, far below its engineering rank, so the MBA name alone opens fewer doors.
You are counting on campus placement: DTU publishes no average pay or placement rate for this course, so your next job comes through your own network.
You live far from north-west Delhi: the Shahbad Daulatpur campus is on Bawana Road, so every weekend class means a long trip both ways.
You plan to apply late: the 2026 form closed on 12 Jul 2026, so watch the admission portal from May.
Counsellor's advice
If you have 2 years of work and 50% in your degree, apply when the form opens and keep work letters ready. If you want a campus job after the course, pick a regular MBA instead.
Executive MBA Eligibility
Degree: A bachelor's degree in any subject from a recognised university.
Marks: 50% in your degree. SC, ST and PwD students need 45%.
Work experience: At least 2 years of full-time work after your degree.
Counted up to: DTU counts your work years up to the last date to apply.
Employer letter: An NOC (a no objection letter) from your employer when classes start.
Executive MBA Admission Process
Apply online: Fill the form on the DTU admission portal and pay INR 1,500.
Check the shortlist: DTU calls shortlisted applicants for the next steps.
Document check: Bring your original degree, marks and work letters.
Personal interview: A panel asks about your work. Marks, work years and the interview decide the list.
Pay the fee: Pay by the date on your selection list or you lose the seat.

Will your profile get you a seat at DTU?

Pick your degree marks and your work years. There is no entrance exam, so these rules decide who reaches the interview.

Degree marks
Full-time work after your degree
Yes, you can apply
You clear the marks and the work rule. The interview and your work profile decide the seat.
Not yet
You need at least 2 years of full-time work after your degree by the last date to apply.
Only if you are SC, ST or PwD
45% is enough for SC, ST and PwD students. General, OBC and EWS students need 50%.
Not yet
Your work years fall short. SC, ST and PwD students with 45% can apply once they have 2 years of work.
Not this course
Every applicant needs at least 45% in the degree, even with the SC, ST or PwD relaxation.
Not this course
Both rules fall short: at least 45% in the degree and 2 years of work are needed.
EDITOR'S NOTE

Clearing both rules only gets you to the interview. The panel weighs your work years and the kind of work you do, so bring letters that show your role.

FMS Delhi costs much less but asks for 5 years of work, not 2. If you have 5 years of work, apply to both; if you have fewer, DTU is the one open to you.
In short
IIFT Delhi costs more, takes six months longer and needs 3 years of work. If trade and export roles are your goal and the fee is fine, pick IIFT; if not, take DTU.
In short
USMS asks for only 1 year of work, but its weekend fee is not published. If you have under 2 years of work, apply there first; once you have 2, compare both fee notices before you pay.
In short
Jamia needs 3 years of work and its own entrance test, while DTU uses an interview. If you have 3 years of work, apply to both; with 2 years, only DTU is open.

Fees and rules can change. Check each college site before you decide.

DTU: 2 Answered Questions

Should I opt for DTU mechanical or IIIT Delhi CSE?

Sanjana KapoorLives in New Delhi

The choice depends on what matters the most to you.

If placements, faculty and research opportunities are your top most priority, choose IIIT Delhi CSE. In this respect, IIITD CSE beats DTU Mechanical by a large margin. But if you want the best of campus, college environment, cultural fests and brand name, DTU Mechanical is a much better choice.

I would personally recommend IIIT Delhi, as it offers top notch placements. But if you’re truly passionate about Mechanical, choose that branch. Do not take your interest for granted while choosing your branch/degree.

Are courses in DTU and NSIT flexible? Can students from lower branches study a minor in C.S. easily?

Akriti Banerjeelives in New Delhi

As an NSUT student, the new CBCS (choice based credit system) allows you to choose your fields of study. This makes for more flexible courses. Also, NSUT has an excellent coding environment which will help you for your minor in Computer Science. Many students over there pursue coding, despite being from a branch other than IT/COE.

In DTU, you will have electives starting from 5th semester. These are department and general electives. IIIT Delhi offers the most flexible courses. Other than some fixed category credits, all the subjects are choice based.

Thus, in terms of providing flexible courses, this is the order of preference- IIITD> NSUT>DTU.
