DTU Admission 2026 operates through three separate entry routes at Delhi Technological University. B.Tech admission uses JEE Main scores and JAC Delhi counselling. M.Tech admission is GATE-based, and MBA admission goes through the CMAC (Common Management Admission Consortium) using CAT, MAT, or CMAT scores.

DTU reserves 85% of B.Tech seats for candidates who completed Class 12 from schools in NCT Delhi. The remaining 15% are open to outside-Delhi candidates. JAC Delhi counselling covers five universities in one common process: DTU, NSUT, IIIT-D, IGDTUW, and DSEU.

Admission Update:
  • B.Tech 2026: JAC Delhi counselling (including Spot Round) concluded on July 31, 2026. Next cycle registration expected around May 2027.
  • M.Tech 2026: Applications closed June 23, 2026. Next cycle expected around February 2027.
  • MBA 2026 (DSM DTU): Applications closed May 17, 2026. Next cycle expected around April 2027.
  • DTU B.Tech has 2,514 total seats across 19 specialisations. Approximately 2,137 seats fall under the Delhi quota and 377 seats under the All-India quota.
  • JEE Main Paper-I is the only accepted exam for B.Tech at DTU. No other engineering entrance exam is considered for admission.
  • Delhi quota eligibility is based on school location, not home address. Candidates who appeared in Class 12 from a Delhi NCT school qualify for the Delhi quota regardless of where they live.
  • For M.Tech, GATE-qualified candidates are processed first. A non-GATE sponsored route is available only when GATE-category seats remain unfilled after the merit list is exhausted.
  • For DSM DTU MBA, CAT scores are exhausted first. MAT and CMAT candidates are considered only after all eligible CAT candidates have been placed.
  • All DTU programmes follow Delhi government reservation norms: SC (15%), ST (7.5%), OBC-NCL (27%), EWS (10%), with a horizontal 5% reservation for PwD candidates.

DTU Admission Portal 2026: dtu.ac.in | B.Tech via JAC Delhi: jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in

Direct Admission at DTU: DTU does not offer a management quota. All B.Tech seats are filled through JEE Main merit and JAC Delhi counselling. M.Tech and MBA seats are also filled through published merit lists with no direct admission route.

DTU B.Tech Admission 2026

DTU B.Tech 2026 admission through JAC Delhi ran across four main rounds and one spot round. The process determines branch and university allotment based purely on JEE Main rank and category.

The 2026 cycle concluded on July 31, 2026. Dates below are from the 2026 JAC Delhi schedule and serve as a reference for the expected 2027 intake timeline.

DTU B.Tech Eligibility Criteria 2026

All 19 B.Tech specialisations at DTU share the same eligibility requirements. Candidates must meet both the JEE Main eligibility and the Class 12 subject requirement.

Criterion Requirement
Qualifying Exam Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects
Minimum Aggregate (GEN / OBC-NCL / EWS) 75% in Class 12, or top 20 percentile of the respective board
Minimum Aggregate (SC / ST) 65% aggregate in Class 12
Entrance Exam Valid JEE Main 2026 Paper-I score (mandatory)
Delhi Quota Eligibility Class 12 examined from a school in Delhi NCT
Annual Fee (Year 1 Reference) INR 3,66,000 (most specialisations)

The fees mentioned above are subject to revision and have been included for reference. Contact the college or visit dtu.ac.in for exact fee details.

DTU B.Tech Selection Process 2026

DTU B.Tech admission through JAC Delhi is purely rank-based. No separate written test or interview is conducted by DTU.

  • JEE Main All-India CRL rank determines All-India quota allotment. Delhi CRL rank determines Delhi quota allotment.
  • Candidates fill preferences for university-branch combinations. The same choice list is used across all four main rounds.
  • Seats are allotted in each round based on rank, category, and domicile status.
  • Candidates may upgrade to a higher-preference allotment in later rounds. Freezing a seat stops further upgrades and confirms admission.
  • Physical document verification is mandatory at the allotted college within the reporting window after each round result.
  • Spot Round seats are available in remaining vacancies after Round 4. Registration and reporting for the Spot Round happen in the same window.

As per a Quora Discussion on DTU Spot Round experiences, candidates noted that the counselling process can involve long wait times on the day itself, with some reporting waits of several hours before branch allotment begins. Students who arrived early and were prepared with all documents secured their preferred available branches faster.

Key Insight: The Delhi quota is based on where you studied Class 12, not your home address. A Delhi NCT school location qualifies you for the Delhi quota. Verify your school category on the JAC Delhi portal before registering to avoid a quota mismatch.

How to Apply for B.Tech at DTU?

B.Tech at DTU is managed entirely through the JAC Delhi portal. Candidates do not need to apply separately to DTU.

  1. Qualify JEE Main Paper-I (conducted by NTA). Results are typically declared by April.
  2. Register on the JAC Delhi portal at jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in when registration opens (expected around May 2027).
  3. Upload JEE Main scorecard, Class 12 mark sheet, category certificate if applicable, and domicile or school location proof.
  4. Pay the JAC Delhi registration fee online through the portal.
  5. Fill and lock your preference list of university-branch combinations. The locked list applies to all four main rounds.
  6. Check seat allotment results after each round on the JAC Delhi portal.
  7. If allotted a seat, report to the designated college within the reporting window. Carry all original documents for physical verification.
  8. Pay the seat acceptance fee at the college to confirm your allotment for that round.
  9. Participate in subsequent rounds to upgrade to a higher preference, or freeze your seat to confirm final admission.

M.Tech seats at DTU are filled through a GATE merit list prepared by DTU. Separate merit lists are prepared for GATE-qualified candidates and for non-GATE sponsored or self-financed candidates.

  • GATE score in the relevant paper is the primary selection criterion. A higher score places the candidate higher in the merit list.
  • Candidates apply branch-wise. The required GATE paper varies by M.Tech specialisation.
  • After GATE merit list seats are exhausted, remaining vacancies open for non-GATE sponsored candidates.
  • No group discussion or personal interview is part of the M.Tech selection process at DTU.

How to Apply for M.Tech at DTU?

DTU MBA Selection Process 2026

DSM DTU shortlists MBA candidates based on entrance exam percentile. The selection then moves to a two-stage evaluation process.

  • Stage 1: CAT candidates are processed first and fill seats by merit. After all eligible CAT candidates are placed, MAT candidates are considered. CMAT candidates fill remaining seats.
  • Stage 2: Shortlisted candidates attend a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) at DSM DTU.
  • Final merit combines entrance exam score, GD performance, PI performance, and academic record in graduation and Class 12.
  • Work experience is not mandatory but may be evaluated positively during the PI stage.

AI-Generated Summary based on 13 Reviews

For admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program at Delhi Technological University (DTU), students need to score at least 50% in their Class 12th examinations from any stream. Admission is primarily based on the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED). To stand a good chance, general category students from outside Delhi should ideally have a UCEED rank under 200, while those benefiting from the Delhi quota, which reserves 85% of seats, can aim for a rank within 1000.

This comprehensive exam tests creativity, drawing, design, visualization, problem-solving skills, basic mathematics, and mental ability, and is typically held in January following the NID entrance exam. DTU's admission process features three rounds of counselling, with the rank list and selected candidates announced on their official website, rendering the procedure straightforward and hassle-free. Applications are accessible via DTU's official site, and post-admission, students are invited for an orientation. For those residing outside Delhi, physical presence at the university may be required for final admission confirmation.

DTU: 5 Answered Questions

Can I get into DTU with 90 Percentile?

Sushmita Reddy

so with 90 percentile your JEE rank is around 1,08,000–1,24,000. getting into DTU is possible but branch options are limited.

what you can realistically get at DTU with 90 percentile:

  • Chemical Engineering — decent chance
  • Civil Engineering — good chance
  • Biotechnology / Environmental Engg — strong chance
  • CSE / IT / Mech / ECE — not happening, those need 98–99 percentile

big thing most people miss — Delhi quota only applies if you studied class 11 and 12 from Delhi. not just if you live in Delhi. if you're from another state your cutoffs are way tighter. if you have Delhi quota and 90 percentile, lower branches are totally doable. if you don't, honestly weigh whether a better branch at a decent NIT beats DTU Chemical. also wait for later JAC rounds — cutoffs drop and seats open up!

Sayantani Barman
Tanya SharmaStudied at Delhi Technological university

Here is the detailed procedure one needs to follow to get admission at DTU

  • Firstly you have to appear for JEE Mains paper-1 exam and qualify for the DTU cutoff
  • Next, register your account in JAC Delhi for which you will have to pay fees. This platform processes admission for 4 colleges namely DTU, NSUT, IGDTU, and IIIT Delhi.
  • Once you have entered all the details in JAC, you will have to fill in a choice filling form that has 27 options to choose from. Choose wisely because you will get branches according to this preference order only.
