DTU Admission 2026 is conducted through multiple routes depending on the programme. B.Tech admissions go entirely through JAC Delhi counselling (jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in) based on JEE Main 2026 ranks. Postgraduate and doctoral admissions use separate portals on dtu.ac.in for M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc, M.Des, and Ph.D.

DTU is a state university under the Government of NCT of Delhi. It does not participate in JoSAA counselling. B.Tech seats split into an 85% Delhi Region quota and a 15% Outside Delhi quota, making domicile a decisive factor in getting in.

Admission Update:
  • B.Tech (JAC Delhi): Round 4 seat allotment released July 14, 2026. Upgradation round result expected July 20, 2026. Physical reporting deadline July 21, 2026.

  • MBA (CMAC): Applications closed May 17, 2026 at cmacadmissions.com. Interview rounds underway.
  • Delhi Region quota (85% seats): Candidates who completed Class 11 and 12 from a school within NCT of Delhi qualify. This quota has significantly lower JEE Main cutoffs than the Outside Delhi quota.
  • Outside Delhi quota (15% seats): Open to all Indian candidates. Outside Delhi CSE 2026 closing rank was around 3,430 versus 9,170 for Delhi Region (General category, Round 1).

  • No management quota for B.Tech: All 2,514 B.Tech seats at DTU are filled strictly through JAC Delhi merit and counselling. There is no direct admission or management quota for B.Tech.
  • B.Tech Lateral Entry: DTU conducts its own LEET (Lateral Entry Entrance Test) for direct second-year B.Tech admission. This is separate from JAC Delhi.
  • JAC Delhi registration fee: INR 1,500 (non-refundable), paid on jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in.
  • Reservation policy: SC/ST/PwD candidates get 5% relaxation in Class 12 eligibility marks. Category-wise seat reservation follows Government of NCT of Delhi norms.

DTU Admission Portal 2026: dtu.ac.in | JAC Delhi Portal: jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in

Direct Admission at DTU (B.Tech): DTU does not offer a management quota for B.Tech. All seats are filled through JAC Delhi merit-based counselling. PG and doctoral programmes also have no management quota and admit strictly on entrance exam merit.

As per a Reddit Discussion among DTU aspirants, Delhi Region students should fill all 14 branches across all JAC Delhi colleges to maximise upgradation chances. Outside Delhi candidates who lock choices early often miss out on upgradation in later rounds.

Note: The Outside Delhi CSE closing rank (Round 1, 2026) was 3,430, roughly 2.7 times tighter than the Delhi Region closing rank of 9,170. Outside Delhi candidates need a significantly higher JEE Main rank to secure the same branch.

AI-Generated Summary based on 13 Reviews

For admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program at Delhi Technological University (DTU), students need to score at least 50% in their Class 12th examinations from any stream. Admission is primarily based on the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED). To stand a good chance, general category students from outside Delhi should ideally have a UCEED rank under 200, while those benefiting from the Delhi quota, which reserves 85% of seats, can aim for a rank within 1000.

This comprehensive exam tests creativity, drawing, design, visualization, problem-solving skills, basic mathematics, and mental ability, and is typically held in January following the NID entrance exam. DTU's admission process features three rounds of counselling, with the rank list and selected candidates announced on their official website, rendering the procedure straightforward and hassle-free. Applications are accessible via DTU's official site, and post-admission, students are invited for an orientation. For those residing outside Delhi, physical presence at the university may be required for final admission confirmation.

DTU: 5 Answered Questions

Can I get into DTU with 90 Percentile?

Sushmita Reddy

so with 90 percentile your JEE rank is around 1,08,000–1,24,000. getting into DTU is possible but branch options are limited.

what you can realistically get at DTU with 90 percentile:

  • Chemical Engineering — decent chance
  • Civil Engineering — good chance
  • Biotechnology / Environmental Engg — strong chance
  • CSE / IT / Mech / ECE — not happening, those need 98–99 percentile

big thing most people miss — Delhi quota only applies if you studied class 11 and 12 from Delhi. not just if you live in Delhi. if you're from another state your cutoffs are way tighter. if you have Delhi quota and 90 percentile, lower branches are totally doable. if you don't, honestly weigh whether a better branch at a decent NIT beats DTU Chemical. also wait for later JAC rounds — cutoffs drop and seats open up!

What is the admission procedure for DTU??

LunarRecoil

Assuming the procedure is for UG courses:

  • First, you need to take an entrance exam. If you are from India, that exam is JEE MAINS. If you're from outside India, you'll take the SAT.
  • After that, check your rank and wait for the cutoff lists released by JAC Delhi.
  • Register on the JAC site with all the necessary information.
  • Fill in your course choices in order of preference when prompted on the site.
  • As soon as your rank meets your desired course, get the allotment letter and prepare for counseling.
  • In the meantime, submit the fees as mentioned by DTU.

That's how you secure admission in DTU! If you're an international student, make sure you have your DASA papers ready too.

And yes, scholarships are available based on certain conditions.

Good luck! ???

After obtaining your rank and learning about the cutoffs for the year, you’ll have to fill out the JAC Delhi form. It is made available around the same time as the announcement of JEE Advanced. You’ll get a month to fill out the form. In the form, you’ll have to fill out your choice of colleges in the order of preference.

You’ll get the best option according to your rank, from among the colleges/branches you select. Fill out this form with utmost care. You’ll be allotted your college on the day of JAC Delhi counseling. It is important to note that NSUT, DTU and IIITD reserve 85% of their seats for students who complete their +2 from Delhi NCT, and only 15% seats are made available for outsiders.

Here is the detailed procedure one needs to follow to get admission at DTU

  • Firstly you have to appear for JEE Mains paper-1 exam and qualify for the DTU cutoff

  • Once you have entered all the details in JAC, you will have to fill in a choice filling form that has 27 options to choose from. Choose wisely because you will get branches according to this preference order only.

  • Bring 4-5 copies of all the required documents. Once your documents are verified you will get an admission slip.
  • If you fail to get your choice in the first round, you will have to appear in the second round. Once you get a set in the second round you will virtually receive a new allotment letter.
  • This counseling will continue for 6 months after which you will have to pay the remaining fees to the allotted university.

The selection to the Btech course at DTU course is based on JAC Delhi Counselling based on JEE Mains Scores. JAC Delhi or Joint Admission Counselling Delhi is the common admission counselling conducted for admission to DTU, IGDTUW, IIIT-D and NSUT offering B.Tech, B.Arch, and other courses. You can apply online for counselling from the official website of the JAC Delhi. The counselling is conducted in 5 rounds and 1 spot round.
