DTU Admission 2026 operates through three separate entry routes at Delhi Technological University. B.Tech admission uses JEE Main scores and JAC Delhi counselling. M.Tech admission is GATE-based, and MBA admission goes through the CMAC (Common Management Admission Consortium) using CAT, MAT, or CMAT scores.
DTU reserves 85% of B.Tech seats for candidates who completed Class 12 from schools in NCT Delhi. The remaining 15% are open to outside-Delhi candidates. JAC Delhi counselling covers five universities in one common process: DTU, NSUT, IIIT-D, IGDTUW, and DSEU.
Admission Update:
- B.Tech 2026: JAC Delhi counselling (including Spot Round) concluded on July 31, 2026. Next cycle registration expected around May 2027.
- M.Tech 2026: Applications closed June 23, 2026. Next cycle expected around February 2027.
- MBA 2026 (DSM DTU): Applications closed May 17, 2026. Next cycle expected around April 2027.
- DTU B.Tech has 2,514 total seats across 19 specialisations. Approximately 2,137 seats fall under the Delhi quota and 377 seats under the All-India quota.
- JEE Main Paper-I is the only accepted exam for B.Tech at DTU. No other engineering entrance exam is considered for admission.
- Delhi quota eligibility is based on school location, not home address. Candidates who appeared in Class 12 from a Delhi NCT school qualify for the Delhi quota regardless of where they live.
- For M.Tech, GATE-qualified candidates are processed first. A non-GATE sponsored route is available only when GATE-category seats remain unfilled after the merit list is exhausted.
- For DSM DTU MBA, CAT scores are exhausted first. MAT and CMAT candidates are considered only after all eligible CAT candidates have been placed.
- All DTU programmes follow Delhi government reservation norms: SC (15%), ST (7.5%), OBC-NCL (27%), EWS (10%), with a horizontal 5% reservation for PwD candidates.

DTU B.Tech Selection Process 2026
DTU B.Tech admission through JAC Delhi is purely rank-based. No separate written test or interview is conducted by DTU.
- JEE Main All-India CRL rank determines All-India quota allotment. Delhi CRL rank determines Delhi quota allotment.
- Candidates fill preferences for university-branch combinations. The same choice list is used across all four main rounds.
- Seats are allotted in each round based on rank, category, and domicile status.
- Candidates may upgrade to a higher-preference allotment in later rounds. Freezing a seat stops further upgrades and confirms admission.
- Physical document verification is mandatory at the allotted college within the reporting window after each round result.
- Spot Round seats are available in remaining vacancies after Round 4. Registration and reporting for the Spot Round happen in the same window.
As per a Quora Discussion on DTU Spot Round experiences, candidates noted that the counselling process can involve long wait times on the day itself, with some reporting waits of several hours before branch allotment begins. Students who arrived early and were prepared with all documents secured their preferred available branches faster.
Key Insight: The Delhi quota is based on where you studied Class 12, not your home address. A Delhi NCT school location qualifies you for the Delhi quota. Verify your school category on the JAC Delhi portal before registering to avoid a quota mismatch.

DTU MBA Selection Process 2026
DSM DTU shortlists MBA candidates based on entrance exam percentile. The selection then moves to a two-stage evaluation process.
