DTU: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 2 Reviews

Admission to the college is through entrance exams. B.Tech candidates need ranks from IIT or AIEEE exams, while M.Tech admissions mostly rely on GATE exam ranks. However, three non-stipend M.Tech courses use the university's own entrance exam. The faculty is skilled, and students are encouraged to engage actively with the course material. DTU's fees are higher than those of semi-government or government universities but similar to private ones. DTU's name is well-regarded in the job market, enhancing its appeal.

Placement opportunities are robust, especially for Bachelor's degree holders, with final-year students having about a 90% placement rate. The highest salary package is roughly 25 LPA, and the average is 10 LPA. Numerous companies visit the campus, offering good packages, stipends, and pre-placement offers. The college also offers paid internships to students from other universities and various projects in fields like frontend and backend development. Scholarships are available based on academic performance and financial need, including government scholarships like Khurana's Program of Scholarship, the APJ Abdul Kalam Scholarship, and a fee reimbursement scholarship based on family income.

Postgraduate students may receive a monthly stipend from AICTE. The fee structure is clear, with minimal increases over time.

DTU: 2 Answered Questions

Should I opt for DTU mechanical or IIIT Delhi CSE?

Sanjana KapoorLives in New Delhi

The choice depends on what matters the most to you.

If placements, faculty and research opportunities are your top most priority, choose IIIT Delhi CSE. In this respect, IIITD CSE beats DTU Mechanical by a large margin. But if you want the best of campus, college environment, cultural fests and brand name, DTU Mechanical is a much better choice.

I would personally recommend IIIT Delhi, as it offers top notch placements. But if you’re truly passionate about Mechanical, choose that branch. Do not take your interest for granted while choosing your branch/degree.

Are courses in DTU and NSIT flexible? Can students from lower branches study a minor in C.S. easily?

Akriti Banerjeelives in New Delhi

As an NSUT student, the new CBCS (choice based credit system) allows you to choose your fields of study. This makes for more flexible courses. Also, NSUT has an excellent coding environment which will help you for your minor in Computer Science. Many students over there pursue coding, despite being from a branch other than IT/COE.

In DTU, you will have electives starting from 5th semester. These are department and general electives. IIIT Delhi offers the most flexible courses. Other than some fixed category credits, all the subjects are choice based.

Thus, in terms of providing flexible courses, this is the order of preference- IIITD> NSUT>DTU.
