DTU Ph.D Electronics and Communications Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates require a valid GATE in Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC paper) or an equivalent UGC NET score in a relevant subject. Shortlisted applicants attend a written test and personal interview at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at DTU. Those without a qualifying exam score may apply through the DTU Research Entrance Test conducted by the department.

Ans. A Master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or a related engineering discipline with minimum 55% aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwD) is required. The degree must be from a recognised university. M.Tech holders in relevant disciplines from DTU or equivalent institutions may be considered for course work exemption based on department guidelines at admission.

Ans. Research at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at DTU spans VLSI design, signal and image processing, wireless communications, embedded systems, RF and microwave engineering, and antenna design. Scholars choose a topic in consultation with a DTU faculty supervisor and contribute through publications, seminars, and an original doctoral thesis over the minimum 3-year duration.

Ans. GATE-qualified PhD scholars at DTU receive INR 12,400 per month from AICTE. UGC JRF holders receive INR 37,000 per month and SRF holders INR 42,000 per month after two years. DTU’s institute fellowship of INR 15,000 to 20,000 per month is available to qualifying full-time scholars. SC/ST students domiciled in Delhi may access the state Post-Matric scholarship.

Ans. The total academic fee for the minimum 3-year PhD is INR 65,100. Year 1 fee is INR 33,700 and Years 2 and 3 are INR 15,700 each. GATE-qualified scholars receive a monthly stipend from AICTE that substantially offsets the annual fee across the programme duration. Hostel is optional and charged separately.

Ans. A doctoral degree in ECE from DTU qualifies candidates for faculty roles at engineering colleges and NITs, senior R&D positions at semiconductor and telecom companies, and research scientist roles at national labs such as DRDO, ISRO, and C-DOT. Many DTU ECE PhD graduates also pursue post-doctoral positions at top Indian and international institutions after completing their doctoral research.
