Fees structure is standard as decided by central government. Administrative people update the fee details before every semester. Fees for B tech students (GEN and OBC) is around 1 Lac.
Academic curriculum is organised and divided nicely. For B.tech students courses are divided in core and elective. You will have to complete min 160 credits for degree. It involves courses from humanities ( min. 18 credits, around 6 courses), free credits (min. 12 credits, you can take any course like chemistry, biotech, physics etc) and core courses. Fees structure is as per IIT norms good students are supported by scholarship girls students are further provided economic supports and even exempted from fees half yearly fees is asked not annual.
Course curriculum is well thought and meet requirements of both research and industry this college located in himachal pradesh near Mandi district. There are a lot of industries near about and therefore college has many projects in diversified areas that gives students opportunities to innovate there ideas and apply for industrial purposes.
It is probably the cheapest. My Tutition fee was 50k but now Govt of India has increased it to 90K per year. Aso you have to add other expenses which add upto 40k a year.
Course Curriculum was messed up when I graduated. Things were stabilizing but electives are very nice. In my graduation I studied electives ranging from history to psychology and society.
The fee should be around 75k/sem, including hostel fees. If you are average, or >average, you can get back most of this, in form of scholarship. Hostels are excellent (Best i've seen yet). Mess food is pathetic, so canteen is always an option.
IIT Mandi is a new IIT. I've been to other IITs like IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati. In terms of curriculum it has the most flexible curriculum. You can choose courses from other branches and humanities too. In 3rd year and final year , the majority of the courses are elective. So you can decide courses according to your interest.
