IIT Mandi provides a total of six B.Tech. courses and a dual course (B.Tech+M.Tech). The admissions procedure is conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). The cut off is given in the form of opening and closing ranks. It is further subdivided into gender-wise cut-offs and category wise cut off.
There were seven rounds of closing ranks that were released in JEE Advanced. The below table shows the closing ranks of the four popular courses for the year 2019 and 2018:
Courses | 2019 Closing Rank | 2018 Closing Rank |
Computer Science and Engineering | 2693 | 2715 |
Electrical Engineering | 5366 | 5299 |
Mechanical Engineering | 7222 | 6410 |
Civil Engineering | 9388 | 8253 |
It is quite evident that only in the Computer Science program, the cut off has shown a rise, while in the rest of the courses the cut off has decreased in 2019 as compared to 2018. Given below, is a table that shows a comparison amongst IIT Mandi’s top competitors, as per the cut off for the year 2019:
Courses | IIT Mandi Cutoff | IIT Dhanbad Cutoff | IIT Ropar Cutoff |
Computer Science and Engineering | 2693 | 2856 | 2049 |
Electrical Engineering | 5366 | 5873 | 5057 |
Mechanical Engineering | 7222 | 6740 | 8692 |
Civil Engineering | 9388 | 8895 | 9826 |
Based on the information presented above, it clearly shows that the competition is moderately high for admission in certain departments of IIT Mandi as compared to its newly opened counterparts. But still if compared to Non-IITs, there is a cut-throat competition with regard to the admission.
IIT Mandi offers a total of seven courses under the discipline of M.Tech. To become eligible for admission to these programs one must qualify the GATE exam. The lowest cut off was 550 for both M.Tech Communication and Signal Processing M.Tech Power Electronics and Drives, in the year 2018. The below table shows the cut-off score of the popular courses for the year 2018 and 2017:
Courses | 2018 Cut Off Score | 2017 Cut Off Score |
VLSI | 600 | 400 |
Power Electronics and Drives | 550 | 250 |
Communication and Signal Processing | 550 | 400 |
The cut-off score has increased significantly in 2018 as compared to 2017. So following the trend, students must try to score higher (<600) in order to be on the safer side. The below table shows a comparison of competitors cut off for the year 2018:
Courses | IIT Mandi | IIT Madras | IIT Delhi |
VLSI | 600 | 775 | 775 |
Power Electronics and Drives | 550 | 762 | 775 |
Communication and Signal Processing | 550 | 692 | 730 |
The cut-off score is comparatively less for IIT Mandi as compared to some of its counterparts like - IIT Madras and Delhi. So students will face a less amount of competition here.
IIT Mandi offers only one M.Sc. program under the discipline of- Chemistry. To be eligible for admission to this program, one must qualify the JAM exam. In the JAM 2019 exam, the cut off was 461 for the general candidates, 884 for OBC, 2620 for SC and 5706 for ST.
Courses | Closing Rank 2019 (Round 3) |
