IIT JAM is a national level online test conducted every year and the minimum criteria to become eligible for the exam is a bachelor’s degree with at least 55%. JAM 2021 will be conducted for seven subjects, which are Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), and Physics (PH). Earlier this list consisted of a Biological Science paper but that was discontinued from this year and the new paper added for JAM 2021 admissions that is Economics. Check IIT JAM 2021 Syllabus
Although the exam pattern will vary as per the course opted by the candidate but the basic outline of the exam and type of questions is the same. A total of 60 questions will be asked in the examination that includes MCQs, MSQs, and NAT. The negative will only be applicable in Section A. Check IIT JAM 2021 Exam Pattern
IIT JAM 2021 Result will be declared on March 20, 2021. Candidates will be able to access the result using their application number and DOB/Password and download the scorecard. IIT JAM offers an opportunity to get admission in MSc and other PG courses at IITs and integrated PhD courses at IISc, Bangalore along with other government-funded institutes.

IIT JAM 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Those wishing to appear in IIT JAM will have to fulfil the eligibility criteria given below:
- Nationality: Citizens from Indian states and foreign nationals are eligible.
- Age Limit: There is no age restriction.
- Educational Qualifications: Must have a degree in Bachelor’s in Science in any one of the following subjects – Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Physics, Chemistry. Final year candidates are also eligible to apply.
- Minimum Marks: At least 55% or 5.5 CGPA out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL) category candidates and 50% or 5.0 CGPA for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.
IIT JAM 2021 Application Form
IIT JAM application process has been made live on September 10, 2020, and the last date to fill the same is October 15, 2020. To fill the online application form, candidates first need to register themselves at the Joint Online Application Processing System. The JOAPS provides an online interface to the candidate for interacting with the JAM Administration.
Step 1: Register Online – Visit the official website of IIT JAM
Step 2: Make Registration – Enter all the required details in the form such as Candidates Name, Email ID, Mobile Number and other details.
Step 3: Fill Details in the Application Form
Step 4: Enter JAM 2021 Exam Details
Step 5: Enter your Personal Details
Step 6: Upload Documents – Uploading of documents like photograph, signature along with category certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate (if applicable), etc.
Step 7: Fee Payment – Pay the fees online and submit your online application form.
The application fee for IIT JAM varies on, whether a candidate wants to opt for one or two test papers. The category-wise application fee is given below:

IIT JAM 2021 Exam Pattern
Although the exam pattern will vary as per the course opted by the candidate, here is a basic outline of the exam and type of questions asked in IIT JAM exam:

Earlier only Biotechnology and Computer Application papers consisted of Objective Type Questions but the IIT JAM exam pattern has changed throughout the years and the exam is now known to be an amalgam of MCQs, MSQs and NAT Questions.

IIT JAM Admit Card
Each year, the exam conducting IIT releases the admit card in December or January. Successfully registered candidates can download their IIT JAM admit card by visiting the JOAPS portal only as it will not be sent by post/email.

Keep the hall ticket safe until the admissions are confirmed as it will contain necessary information like the candidate’s & other exam related details such as:
- Name of Candidate’s
- Registration Number
- Name(s) & Code(s) of Test paper(s)
- Name & Address of Test Center
How to Download IIT JAM Admit Card?
In order to download their IIT JAM 2020 Admit Card, candidates need to enter all the mandatory details such as:
- issued Enrollment ID/Email ID
- security code and other credentials
In case any candidate has forgotten their enrollment ID or password, they can recover it through the “Forget Enrollment ID or Password” option.
Note: Check the details given on the admit card properly. In case there is any discrepancy on the admit card, contact the concerned authorities immediately.

After the selection of an exam center, JOAPS will automatically detect the nearest IIT Zone. The same procedure has to be followed for the second and third preference.
Note: Once allotted, the exam center can not be changed.
IIT JAM 2021 Admission Process
Below mentioned steps are to be followed in prder to gain admission in IITs and make through the stringent selection process.
Step 1: Fill IIT JAM Application Form
Initial step is to fill the application form via JAM online application processing system (JOAPS). The link is available at the official websitethus the entire process has to be done in online mode only.
Application fee too has to be paid online to complete the application process via net banking/debit card or credit card. Candidates can apply to a maximum of two papers for which additional fee payment is required.
Step 2: Download IIT JAM Admit Card
Available on the official website hall ticket can be downloaded online. Hard copy of admit card along with a valid ID proof has to be carried to th exam center. It is advised to retain admit card till the counselling process is over.
Step 3: Appear for IIT JAM Exam and Check Results
Appear for the exam at the alloted test center. In case candidates have applied for more than on paper they need to appear for both. Absence in any paper will be considered a void attempt for that test paper.
Once the results are declared on the official website, candidates haveto doenload their scorecard for further process. For all the 6 test papers an All India Rank List is prepared,if names of the candidate appear in the merit list they will be considered for admission process.
Step 4: Fill Admission Form for IIT JAM Counselling
In case candidates qualify in more than one test paper, they have to fill only one admission form as stated by the conducting authorities. After fillingthe duly filled admission form for counselling, processing charge of INR 600 needs to be submitted.
Step 5: Admission List Announcement
An admission list will be declared by the conducting body IIT Kanpur when admission form submission process gets over. Admission offer letter will be sent to candidates by respective colleges.

As informed by the official website, admission will be granted in order of merit, mere reflection of name in the merit list does not gaurantee admission.
IIT JAM 2021 Result
Those who will apply for IIT JAM 2021 will be able to check their results from the official website.
- No scorecard will be sent to candidates through offline mode.
- All India Rank (AIR) will be assigned as per the marks obtained in the examination.
- Based on the candidate’s performance in IIT JAM 2020, for each test paper, a separate merit list will be prepared for GEN/ OBC/ SC/ ST/ PWD candidates.
- Merit list will be based on the number of seats available in each subject and AIR of every candidate.
- The scorecard will contain AIR and marks obtained in the particular subject.

Ans: Yes, candidates whose name appears in the merit list of IIT JAM are eligible to get admission in IISER Bhopal. Though a common counselling process is conducted by IISER Bhopal and IISER Pune to final admissions.

Ans: On a rotational basis anyone IIT is responsible to conduct IIT JAM. It is conducted in over 65 cities across India. Candidates can select 2 exam center as their preference while filling the application form.
