IIT JAM 2020 Admission process began on April 20, 2020, last date to apply was extended till May 24, 2020. - IIT JAM First Admission List has been released on June 29, 2020.
- Uptill 2019, JAM was conducted in 7 test courses but in 2020 only 6 subjects i.e. Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics, and Physics (PH) were included as test papers.
- Results were declared earlier than expected on March 16, 2020, in the form of a scorecard. Candidates can download their scorecard from March 31 to July 31, 2020.

IIT JAM offers an opportunity to get admission in MSc and other PG courses at IITs and integrated PhD courses at IISc, Bangalore along with other government-funded institutes.
IIT Kanpur has advised applicants facing issues regarding documents to submit the documents to the best of their understanding. Any shortcomings will be notified at the stage of scrutiny in admissions. In case final year applicants have incomplete documents they can submit an undertaking. Last date to submit the documents at the admitting college is September 30, 2020.

Although the eligibility criteria clearly state that the applicant must be a B.Sc. graduate, students only from the following streams are eligible for IIT’s Joint Admission Test for M.Sc – Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Physics and Chemistry. Earlier this list consisted of seven streams but Biological Sciences paper was discontinued from this year.

Those wishing to appear in IIT JAM will have to fulfil the eligibility criteria given below:
- Nationality: Citizens from Indian states and foreign nationals are eligible.
- Age Limit: There is no age restriction.
- Educational Qualifications: Must have a degree in Bachelor’s in Science in any one of the following subjects – Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Physics, Chemistry. Final year candidates are also eligible to apply.
- Minimum Marks: At least 55% or 5.5 CGPA out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL) category candidates and 50% or 5.0 CGPA for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.

Below mentioned steps are to be followed in prder to gain admission in IITs and make through the stringent selection process.
Step 1: Fill IIT JAM Application Form
Initial step is to fill the application form via JAM online application processing system (JOAPS). The link is available at the official websitethus the entire process has to be done in online mode only.
Application fee too has to be paid online to complete the application process via net banking/debit card or credit card. Candidates can apply to a maximum of two papers for which additional fee payment is required.
Step 2: Download IIT JAM Admit Card
Available on the official website hall ticket can be downloaded online. Hard copy of admit card along with a valid ID proof has to be carried to th exam center. It is advised to retain admit card till the counselling process is over.
Step 3: Appear for IIT JAM Exam and Check Results
Appear for the exam at the alloted test center. In case candidates have applied for more than on paper they need to appear for both. Absence in any paper will be considered a void attempt for that test paper.
Once the results are declared on the official website, candidates haveto doenload their scorecard for further process. For all the 6 test papers an All India Rank List is prepared,if names of the candidate appear in the merit list they will be considered for admission process.
Step 4: Fill Admission Form for IIT JAM Counselling
In case candidates qualify in more than one test paper, they have to fill only one admission form as stated by the conducting authorities. After fillingthe duly filled admission form for counselling, processing charge of INR 600 needs to be submitted.
Step 5: Admission List Announcement
An admission list will be declared by the conducting body IIT Kanpur when admission form submission process gets over. Admission offer letter will be sent to candidates by respective colleges.

March 20, 2020. March 16, 2020 (Released)
- Candidates can download their IIT JAM 2020 scorecard from March 31 to July 31, 2020. The organizing Institution will not send any hard copy of the scorecard through offline mode.
- No scorecard will be sent to candidates through offline mode.
- All India Rank (AIR) will be assigned as per the marks obtained in the examination.
- Based on the candidate’s performance in IIT JAM 2020, for each test paper, a separate merit list will be prepared for GEN/ OBC/ SC/ ST/ PWD candidates.
- Merit list will be based on the number of seats available in each subject and AIR of every candidate.
- The scorecard will contain AIR and marks obtained in the particular subject.

IIT JAM 2020 Application Form
Each year any of the Indian Institutes of Technology commence the IIT JAM application process between August to September. For this year’s IIT JAM, the application forms went live on September 4, 2019 and the last date to fill the same was October 9, 2019.
To fill the online application form, candidates first need to register themselves at the Joint Online Application Processing System. The JOAPS provides an online interface to the candidate for interacting with the JAM Administration. This interactive platform provides an applicant with :

Indian Institutes of Management allow students from only six streams (Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Physics, Chemistry) to participate in IIT JAM. The candidates can appear in the exam for a maximum of two subjects. Earlier only Biotechnology and Computer Application papers consisted of Objective Type Questions but the IIT JAM exam pattern has changed throughout the years and the exam is now known to be an amalgam of MCQs, MSQs and NAT Questions.

IIT JAM Admit Card
Each year, the exam conducting IIT releases the admit card in December or January. Successfully registered candidates can download their IIT JAM admit card by visiting the JOAPS portal only as it will not be sent by post/email.

After the selection of an exam center, JOAPS will automatically detect the nearest IIT Zone. The same procedure has to be followed for the second and third preference.
