Tumkur University is one of the most reputed in the state of Karnataka, offering a number of different courses at the UG, PG and doctorate level. It was established in the year 2004 under the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000 in order. The University has 12 postgraduate departments, 2 constituent colleges and 94 Affiliated Colleges. The university provides a range of undergraduate courses in multiple disciplines. The minimum eligibility to apply for UG courses is class 12. Applicants must have passed class 12 in relevant discipline with at least 50% marks.

Tumkur University PhD Admission is done through an entrance test followed by personal interview. The University offers higher education opportunities to interested candidates. Application forms are released both in online and offline modes, usually during the month of May, following an official notification by the university. As per eligibility for doctoral courses, candidates should have Masters Degree in relevant discipline with minimum 55% marks. The university also accepts GATE / JRF / SLET score for PhD admission.

Automated Weather Station: It is latest of its kind in the state. It was established in 2010 as an initiative of ISRO. It is an agricultural friendly venture in addition to addressing the research and education needs.
