UAS Dharwad Ph.D Crop Physiology: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold an M.Sc in Crop Physiology, Botany, or an allied plant science from a recognised agricultural university with a minimum OGPA of 6.50 on a 10-point scale. This threshold applies to both ICAR quota and university-funded seats. ICAR SRF/NET qualification exempts candidates from appearing in the UAS Dharwad entrance test for ICAR-funded seats. Non-qualified candidates must appear in the university entrance test and interview process.

Ans. Research areas include photosynthesis and carbon assimilation in field crops, drought and heat stress tolerance mechanisms, hormonal regulation of growth and development, source-sink relationships in high-yielding varieties, and physiological basis of yield formation. UAS Dharwad researchers work on major Karnataka crops such as sorghum, groundnut, sunflower, cotton, and pulses. Students select a research topic in consultation with their assigned guide during the first semester of coursework.

Ans. ICAR-funded scholars admitted through the AICE-JRF/SRF merit list receive INR 31,000 per month as JRF for the first 2 years of research. This amount upgrades to INR 35,000 per month as SRF from the third year onward, subject to satisfactory research progress reviewed by the doctoral advisory committee. The fellowship is disbursed monthly directly to the scholar’s bank account and effectively covers the annual programme fee of INR 27,000 per year.

Ans. Candidates first appear for the ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF exam conducted by NTA. ICAR-qualified candidates are directly eligible for ICAR-funded seats through the national merit list.
