Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) is the first university dedicated to the studies in fisheries and allied disciplines. It was established by the government of Kerala in 2010. It is an autonomous and public funded institution with the headquarters at Panangad, Kochi. The University offers UG, PG, and Doctoral programmes in Fisheries Science. It also offers PG Diploma in Aquarium Science and Technology and Diploma in Brackish water and Marine Aquaculture. The selection criteria for various courses are based on the results of the entrance exam conducted each year.

The candidates who wish to take admission here must fill the application form in the prescribed format. The Entrance examination for various courses are conducted by the University itself. However, it also considers various other entrance examinations to grant admission in UG and PG courses like KEAM, NEET-UG, CAT, and CMAT, etc. Students can apply for 5 programmes at a time and if they wish to apply for further more courses they’ll have to pay additional fees.

Library- The library is well equipped with modern gadgets. There are over 19000 books, out of which 2000 are reference books and 17000 are textbooks on fisheries and allied subjects.
Museum- Museum for fishes, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic plants and parasites fishes maintained by the university and it has a public aquarium of fresh water.
Swimming Pool- There is a wide spread swimming pool in the campus of the University which has a capacity of four and a half lakh litres of water.
Hostel- University provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls in the campus. Hostel is fully equipped with the amenities that are required for a healthy stay. The boys hostel has a capacity of 60 students and has 2 guest rooms. Girls hostel has the capacity to accommodate 133 students.
Computer Facilities- University has a well-furnished computer lab funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The lab is fully equipped with computers and all computers are connected via Local Area Network (LAN).
