Remarks

Overall the college is good to explore the inner person. There is almost no pressure for assignments. The faculties focus on gaining more knowledge instead of memorizing things. The college campus is clean and green and you can also found very quiet and peaceful.

My college has many positive points but it lags behind some factors like location. Still I think that I am at a very good place with an atmosphere of nerds all around. I would rate my college 8 on a scale of 10.

Positive :- India's first IIIT Institute of national importance by MHRD. Only college in India to provide BTech+MBA course Negative :- location of college is not that much great, if it was in any metropolitan city then IIIT Gwalior would be there in India's top 10 IT institutes.

Being a IT/CS college there is no good environment of coding and programming. The interaction between seniors and juniors is very low. Doing out of box thing is very challenging and less appreciating here.

Remarks

I have chosen the IT course because I was interested in computers, but until now I have not found any best things about our course. Lectures should be made more interesting by teachers as they are very boring. I wish teachers should be better for our course, and labs should be maintained properly.

Placement Experience

9/10

The average salary package offered was 11.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, Google, Gojek, Lenovo, Myntra and others. Top roles offered in our course are open source software developer and MERN developer.Almost every student got placed in various companies like Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Nutanix, Dell, Myntra, IBM and others. The highest salary package offered here was 42 LPA, while the lowest salary package offered was 8 LPA.

Ques. How is the coding culture in IIITM Gwalior these days, and how many events are organised for it?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 08 Apr 21

Ans. My brother studies at IIIT M and the coding culture there is not limited to coding, i.e. the competitive coding, there are only a few of these competitive coders but they are quite dedicated and get placed with companies like Google and Microsoft. A lot of exploration can be done in different fields as well. My brother has enrolled in the Integrated Post Graduate (IPG) Course in IT, which is the only branch at IIITM G with 129 seats - a number lower than seats available at other institutes. It is ranked on #100 in the NIRF ranking list.  Also to be noted are these - As you know, due to limited seats, there is a lot of scope for peer-to-peer learning. You will discover that your classmates won't stick to just coding, but will also learn more about development too; which would be software development, web development, and Android development. A lot of varied events are organized weekly, bi-monthly, or annually by the students' forum called AASF. They hold programming contests and conduct classes for Freshers to introduce competitive programming. These sessions are peer-to-peer interactive ones where seniors and juniors participate in sharing ideas. AASF is the only club that holds coding competitions, mostly for first-year students, but some programmers turn out to be very good. The annual programming contest is what coding enthusiasts at the college look forward to. Finally, it depends on whether you are interested in coding and want to truly participate with dedication, if so, your seniors will support you the most. Read more

Ques. What are some of the less known facts about IIITM Gwalior?

● Top Answer By Sourabh Kumar on 08 Apr 21

Ans. Firstly, you may know that IIITM Gwalior is the first IIIT to be established by the Government of India by Congress Minister Mr. Scindia and was inaugurated by the MHRD minister Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi. It has nearly 100% faculty members who hold a Ph.D. degree. You may not know even these - The former IIITM chairman Dr. MN Buch was awarded Padma Bhushan. IIITM G has been constantly rated A+++ and has ranked in the Top 25 among different surveys conducted by the government of India and other private magazines. If you plan to study there, you'd get a hostel room to yourself because at IIIT M, every student gets a hostel room for him/herself. You can bring anything to the hostel room- be it a washing machine, heater, bikes, AC, etc. Cars however are not allowed. The scholarship provision is a bit upsetting because it is made available to students from Andhra Pradesh. The website describes scholarships with much finesse and claims to help those in need of the same, however in reality it is not accomplished and those who need it are the ones who are not able to receive it. The date of arrival of forms, the date of submission, and the procedure of scholarship accessibility are unclear. The merit-cum-means scholarship is awarded to 10 of the first-year students, who are below a certain financial average and have a good JEE Main rank. Some students who have been worthy have suffered because of the mismanagement. All else is good at the institute.Read more

Ques. Why IIITM-Gwalior being the oldest still not stand at any place with IIIT-Hyderabad? Do they follow the IIIT-H syllabus? Do they teach topics like AI and ML?

● Top Answer By Deepika Kunwar on 08 Apr 21

Ans. The most prominent difference is that IIIT H is a private institution and IITM G is a government institution that is autonomously working under the aegis of MHRD. Despite all this, both institutes rank #100 and #43 on the NIRF ranking respectively. IIIT H as you can see ranks better than IIITM Gwalior. Here are some more insights - IIIT H has a better administration that takes good care of the reputation and quality of the institution. IIIT-H is also better than IIITM G because of its coding environment, the competition is tough as well. It helps because then better placements are available. When you compare IIIT H with IIITM G, IIIT H wins in the coding atmosphere, but it is not far behind when it comes to an analogy with other IITs and NITs. Here is a table of general comparison: Parameters IIITM Gwalior IIIT Hyderabad Ranking #100 #43 Average tuition fee (INR) 50,000 34,000 Average salary (INR) 14 LPA 14-16 LPA Highest Salary(INR) 42 LPA 46 LPA Top Recruiters Microsoft, Dell, Goldman Sachs, Myntra etc Amazon, Goldman Sachs, AppDynamics, Samsung etc As for the syllabus, AL and ML are offered as well. Although the problem occurs with respect to its pedagogic facilitation because the faculty is not well versed with the latest technologies which have to be incorporated into the syllabus. The MOOCs are not good either.  You can also join online classes at Harvard or Stanford, which is much better than what is taught at the aforementioned institutions, however the final decision rests in your hands.Read more

Ques. What are the reasons for the degradation of IIITM Gwalior?

● Top Answer By on 24 Mar 21

Ans. This is true that IIITM Gwalior is not the same as before and there are 2 main reasons for it - Academics and Research. Any college's fate lies in the vision of the director and unfortunately, the dean of IIITM Gwalior doesn't focus much on academics and rather focuses on unnecessary things like exam duties, staff handling, transportation, and all. This is not all and there is a chain of events that are happening and making the situation worse. Some of the observation include: This college is autonomous and hence all its decisions are made here. The problem lies in the fact that all the decisions are made on the go and there is no pre-planning of any task. The main disgrace is academics. A professor of another field is taking lectures on another subject. What do you think of academics then? The feedback is just a waste and no action is taken depending on the response of the student. Faculties are the soul of any educational institute. Faculty here are living in their old vibes and fighting each other, satisfying their ego. They stand nowhere against the faculty of IITs and NITs. The placement cell is bogus and they try to provide minimum help to the student. Students here are mostly placed off-campus depending on their skillset and coding skills. The politics that goes around at every level of the institute. Categories IIITM Gwalior Course Fee 5.4-6.7 lakh Placement Percentage (overall) 75-80% Highest CTC 15 LPA Average CTC 3 LPA Recruiting Companies One Direction, Microsoft, Paytm, GeeksforGeeks, etc. The condition of Research is also pathetic. There is no support from the professor on how to write research papers and publish them. Also, they have no collaboration with any industries and R&D labs.Read more

Ques. How advantageous is a dual degree in IIITM Gwalior?

● Top Answer By Meghdeepa Mondal on 24 Mar 21

Ans. You have joined IIITM because your rank was not good enough for top-ranked institutes. Though I deeply believe that IIITM is the best college you can get for 10k-20 (General) and 20k-40k (OBC) in JEE Mains. One of my friends is an alumnus of this college and he has often spoken about how this college has produced some of the finest engineers and managers. Also providing you with all possible facilities but still, some students criticize it. You simply can not blame the institute for something you didn't do. We must get out of the mindset, where we think that everything would be spoon-fed to us. As a student, who got an internship in Amazon and was unable to convert this opportunity. You can't blame the institute after this. The college provides you with the opportunity to work in one of the biggest companies in the world.    Categories Dual Degree at IIITM Gwalior Course Fee 6.70 lakh Placement Percentage 85% Highest CTC 15 LPA Average CTC 3 LPA Recruiting Companies One Direction, Microsoft, Paytm, GeeksforGeeks, etc. Let see some of the advantages of IIITM: The institute provided you with enough time to groom your ideas and work upon them. Research work is great here. The alumni are working on some great ideas. It takes some time to get recognized in the industry and once the alumni get recognized, the college will surely groom them. Placements can improve a bit. The institute is lacking a dedicated placement cell and needs to work upon it. But again you can't compare it with the likes of top IITs and NITs. We can thus conclude that this college is for those who dare to guide their career. Though, work hard to get a good rank in Mains and try for some other top colleges. Finally, to conclude I don't think IIITM deserves this criticism and it is a great college for those who don't need spoon-feeding.Read more
