MPBOU B.Ed (LD) FAQs
Ques. Is the B.Ed. SEDE (Learning Disability) from MPBOU recognized by RCI? Is it valid for government jobs?
Ans. Yes, the B.Ed. SEDE programme offered by MPBOU is approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi. Upon successful completion, graduates receive an RCI CRR (Central Rehabilitation Register) number, which is the mandatory credential to work as a special educator in India. This qualification is recognized for government jobs in special education, including positions in government schools under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, rehabilitation centres, and NGOs working with persons with disabilities. However, for teaching in regular government schools (non-special education), a general B.Ed. is typically required.
Ques. Can I pursue B.Ed. SEDE (LD) from MPBOU while working full-time?
Ans. Yes, this is one of the primary advantages of the MPBOU B.Ed. SEDE programme. Since it is offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, you are not required to attend daily classes. However, you must attend mandatory contact classes at your allotted study centre (typically on weekends or during designated contact class periods) and submit assignments as per the schedule. Failing to attend contact classes or submit assignments may make you ineligible to appear in the term-end examination.
Ques. What is the difference between the Learning Disability (LD) specialization and other specializations like HI, VI, and ID?
Ans. The B.Ed. SEDE programme has four specializations: Hearing Impairment (HI), Visual Impairment (VI), Intellectual Disability (ID), and Learning Disability (LD). The LD specialization specifically trains teachers to identify and remediate learning difficulties such as dyslexia (reading difficulty), dyscalculia (math difficulty), dysgraphia (writing difficulty), and related conditions. Unlike HI or VI which deal with sensory impairments, LD focuses on neurological and cognitive processing differences. Graduates of the LD specialization typically work in inclusive schools, learning support centres, and assessment clinics.
Ques. How is the study centre allotted? Can I choose my preferred study centre?
Ans. Study centre allotment is done through an online counselling process after the entrance exam results are declared. During counselling, candidates fill their preferences for study centres available for the LD specialization. Allotment is based on entrance exam merit rank, availability of seats in the LD specialization at the chosen study centre, and the preference order submitted by the candidate. You cannot directly choose a study centre; it is allotted based on merit and availability. Currently, the primary study centre for LD specialization is Study Code 1706 at MPBOU's main campus in Bhopal.
Ques. What documents are required at the time of application and admission?
Ans. At the time of online application, you need to upload: graduation marksheet, passport-size photograph, and caste certificate (if applicable). At the time of document verification after counselling, you will need: original graduation certificate and marksheets, domicile certificate (for MP residents), caste/category certificate (if applicable), disability certificate/UDID card (if PwD), RCI-recognized programme certificate (if applicable), and employment certificate (if working). Ensure all documents are self-attested and in the prescribed format.
Ques. What is the minimum duration of the programme and when does the batch start?
Ans. The minimum duration of the B.Ed. SEDE programme is 2 years and 6 months (2.5 years), and the maximum duration is 5 years. The 2026-29 batch is expected to commence in August - September 2026, subject to completion of the entrance exam and counselling process. The programme is structured in semesters with contact classes, assignments, and term-end examinations. Students who do not complete the programme within 5 years from the date of admission will have their admission cancelled as per university rules.
