DPU MCA FAQs
Ques. Is DPU MCA a 2-year or 3-year program?
Ans. DPU MCA is a 2-year program following the revised NEP 2020 curriculum, divided into 4 semesters. The MCA duration was reduced from 3 years to 2 years across all AICTE-approved institutions in India from the 2022-23 academic year. Graduates in BCA, B.Sc in Computer Science or IT or Mathematics, or B.Tech/BE with minimum 50% are eligible. The shorter duration means students can enter the workforce faster without an additional year of tuition.
Ques. What entrance exam is required for DPU MCA admission?
Ans. DPU accepts NIMCET scores for MCA admission. NIMCET 2026 was held on 6 June 2026 and results were declared on 29 June 2026. Candidates who did not appear in NIMCET can apply through the DPU AIET, the university’s own entrance test, with applications open until June each year. The session commences in July. Registration is done on admissions.dpuerp.in with an application fee of INR 1,300.
Ques. What is the total fee for DPU MCA?
Ans. The annual tuition for DPU MCA is INR 1,60,000 per year as per the official fee notification for 2026-27, making the total 2-year tuition INR 3,20,000. Additional university examination and development charges are applicable and should be confirmed from the DPU admissions office at the time of enrollment. Students in the top 30% of the batch are eligible for the DPU Merit Scholarship, which provides a fee reduction reviewed each academic year.
Ques. What are the career options after DPU MCA?
Ans. DPU MCA graduates can pursue roles such as software developer, web application engineer, database administrator, system analyst, IT project coordinator, and data analyst. Pune hosts a large cluster of IT companies including Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, KPIT Technologies, and numerous product startups, providing strong local placement opportunities. Graduates may also appear for government IT officer exams or pursue PhD in Computer Science from a recognised university if research interests are present.
Ques. What is the eligibility for DPU MCA and is Mathematics compulsory?
Ans. Candidates must hold a BCA, B.Sc in Computer Science, IT, or Mathematics, or a B.Tech/BE degree with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC). Mathematics is a mandatory subject either at 10+2 or at graduation level. Final-year students can apply provisionally and confirm admission after results are declared. A valid NIMCET or DPU AIET score is required and must be submitted along with the online application.
Ques. Does DPU provide placement support for MCA students?
Ans. DPU’s placement cell supports MCA students through campus recruitment drives, aptitude training, technical interview preparation, and mock interviews. Pune’s dense IT ecosystem means several companies visit the campus for placements. MCA students are also encouraged to participate in off-campus drives and leverage the university alumni network, which spans IT services, consulting, and product companies across Pune, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Internship coordination is also part of the MCA program structure.
