IIM Shillong is a public management institute set up in the year 2007 and is the seventh Indian Institute of Management to be established in India. The institute offers postgraduate, doctoral, and executive programs in management education, and Management Development Programs(MDPs) spanning different management streams.
Admission to the institute is based on the marks secured by the examinees in CAT (Common Admission Test), GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), GRE (Graduate Record Examinations), or JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).

IIM Shillong Courses Offered
IIM Shillong offers Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), Management Development Programme (MDP), and Faculty Development Programme (FDP). Admission is offered on the basis of CAT scores. Other important details about the programs are mentioned below:
Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM)
Students are offered subjects from the areas of economics, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, operations, and general management. The admission to the postgraduate program is offered on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in CAT.
Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)
This is the doctoral level program offered by the institute. FPM is a four-year fully residential program with fellowships awarded in the following fields: economics, finance, HR, information systems, marketing, and operations management. Admissions are based on scores obtained by the candidate in CAT, GMAT, GATE, GRE, or the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination.
Management Development Programme (MDP)
These are short duration programs varying from two days to six months, for working executives from the industry, education, and government sectors held both on- and off-campus.
Faculty Development Programme (FDP)
IIM Shillong offers a program for faculty development at regular intervals to help familiarize with current and relevant industry trends and practices.

The Fellow Program in Management which can be pursued in Economics, Marketing and other disciplines is one where students are provided stipends and fellowships.
- For the first year, a student will be given INR 20,000, for second and third year INR 25,000 and for the fourth year, INR 30,000
- An additional stipend of INR 5,000 will be paid to students for academic duty assigned up to 10 hours in a week.
- Students who will be teaching full 30 credits courses will be given an additional stipend of INR 7,000
