Ques. How is IIT Bhubaneswar mechanical as compared to other new IITs opened in 2008 and IIT Dhanbad?

● Top Answer By Komal Chawla on 22 Apr 21

Ans. IIT Bhubaneswar is a new IIT and was established in the year 2008. On the other hand, IIT Dhanbad is an old IIT. Being an old IIT, the academic curriculum and academic flexibility are more functional at IIT Dhanbad than any other new IIT. Many of my friends have passed out from IIT Dhanbad who were highly satisfied with their placement considering their JEE advance ranks. In the placement drive 2020, the highest package offered to the mechanical branch at IIT Dhanbad was INR 17 lakhs per annum.  Changing your branch is comparatively easier at IIT Dhanbad. So, even if you are compromising on your branch of choice, you can get it altered to your choice once you join in. To conclude, I would suggest you go for IIT Dhanbad.Read more

But, between IIT Bhubaneswar and NIT Rourkela, I would suggest you choose NIT Rourkela over IIT Bhubaneswar. The reasons for this are as follows. NIT Rourkela holds rank 19 whereas IIT Bhubaneswar is ranked at 26 by NIRF in the year 2020. Thus, NIT Rourkela holds a better rank than IIT Bhubaneswar. The ranking that NIT Rourkela holds is mainly because of its infrastructure and research facilities. Many research papers have been published by the institute in the past years. MSc in Chemistry is a research-oriented subject. Therefore, this branch has thrived at NIT Rourkela. It is worth opting for Chemistry and Physics at NIT Rourkela. If you really like Chemistry and want to pursue a master’s degree in the subject, NIT Rourkela is definitely the right choice for you.Read more

Ques. Which should I choose, CSE in BITS Goa or CSE in IIT Bhubaneswar?

● Top Answer By Darshan Singh Bisht on 22 Apr 21

Ans. Undoubtedly, you should choose CSE at BITS Goa. IIT Bhubaneswar is a new IIT that was established in the year 2008 along with five other IITs. Following this, more IITs were set up. So, it is lost among the new IITs. Whereas, BITS Goa is one among the four campuses of BITS Pilani.  The infrastructure and faculty are at par with its other campuses. Also, if we compare it with IIT Bhubaneswar or any other new IIT, BITS Goa is better in all aspects including infrastructure, faculty, labs, library, placement, alumni network, academics, technical festival, cultural festival, hostels, campus life, mess, etc. Another point of concern for most students is the course fee. Ques. Which is a better option for EE, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Indore, or IIT Bhubaneswar?

● Top Answer By Darshan Singh Bisht on 22 Apr 21

Ans. Gandhinagar and Bhubaneswar are the capitals of the states of Gujarat and Orissa, respectively, Indore is the most important and industrial capital of Madhya Pradesh. But When it comes to geographical position, Gandhinagar and Indore have the upper hand, with a marginal advantage in terms of temperature and weather. Categories IIT Gandhinagar IIT Indore IIT Bhubaneswar Course Fee 8.71 lakh 9.51 lakh 8.52 lakh Placement Percentage 80-90% 85-90% 70% Highest CTC 15 LPA 25-30 LPA 20LPA Average CTC 9 LPA 18.5 LPA 10 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Wipro, etc. Schlumberger, Infosys, etc., L&T, TCS, etc. Now, when it comes to the rankings of these institutes, IIT Indore comes out on top, whether it's a NIRF ranking or a ranking by various forums. Since all three IITs are 2008 tier IITs, we can easily compare that IIT Indore is superior to IIT Gandhinagar, which is superior to IIT Bhubaneswar. The priority list must be in the following order:  Indore> Gandhinagar> BhubaneswarRead more

Ques. Should I choose IIT Bhubaneswar civil over NIT Trichy ECE?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 22 Apr 21

Ans. ECE is in any way superior to Civil Engineering. NIT Trichy is also a really good institute, so don't just go for the IIT tag. Taking Civil in a new IIT (or even in an older IIT) will limit your options, in terms of location or something else.  You might not get as many opportunities as you might get for ECE, given that the packages offered for ECE branches are comparatively always better.  Categories ECE at NIT Trichy Civil Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar Course Fee 5.65 lakhs 8.52 lakhs Placement Percentage 95% 70% Highest CTC 44 LPA 39 LPA Average CTC 10-12 LPA 9 LPA Recruiting Companies Tech Mahindra, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, etc. L&T, TCS, Schlumberger, Jacobs Engineering, etc. If you had the option of choosing a circuital branch in IIT BBS, then it would be highly recommended to you, but since you are considering Civil, it is a better choice.Read more

Only 2 written test. First round jee mains.and second round jee advanced. I prepared 2 years for it. For admission I have prepared for its entrance exam which is toughest exam at 12th level. Then I qualified jee mains with nice rank. But for admission I have to qualify jee advanced. I qualified it and got rank to get admission in this college.

Remarks :

I want to be IITian. And as by my rank best college I was getting is this college. As it is second biggest iit campus. World class institute with best faculty. For admission I have prepared for its entrance exam which is toughest exam at 12th level. Then I qualified jee mains nice rank. But for admission I have to qualify jee advanced. I qualified it and got rank to get admission in this college. I was getting some nits like Calicut computer science and iiit Allahabad information technology. But I choose this because it is an IIT. My dream to become IITian true here only. IIT Bhubaneswar is very beautiful and green campus. It's placement is very nice as it is an IIT. Apart from academic it also give us chance to prove us in sports and social activities. Fest of campus are biggest fest of East India after IIT Kharagpur. Overall enjoying this college life.

Admission :

No, admission to IIT depends on the rank obtained in the JEE Advanced exam. Initially, the JEE Mains exam is conducted, and whoever clears it will be allowed to write the JEE Advanced exam. So, based on the rank in the JEE Advanced exam there will be 7 counseling rounds for the final college allocation. So, based on the opening and closing rank of a college or course of a college the web options are filled by the students. By the End of the 7 rounds, the college is allocated. So, after paying the fee the student comes to college, and verification of documents is done.

Admission :

To get admission into any one of the 23 IITs in our nation, one has to give 2 phases of the JEE exam-Jee mains and Jee advanced. Jee mains, now conducted by Nta, is an online examination conducted in multiple shifts to ensure engineering seats in any of the NITs(National Institute of Technology) in our country. Being an unreserved candidate, I will suggest only whatever I do know about the Unreserved selection procedure. From around 13 lakh candidates who appeared for Jee mains, only 2. 45 lakh candidates cleared the cutoff(percentile -a marking criteria decided by Nta without a clear procedure). Of those 2. 45 lakh candidates, around 1 lakh qualify to appear for Jee advanced(an entrance test for admission into IITs). And finally, out of those 1 lakh, around 13000(unreserved) get chance in IITs based on rank, that makes it around the top 1% of the 13 lakh candidates that appeared for Jee mains, making Jee advanced one of the toughest exams in the world based on selection percentage. After that, we fill our choices for our preferred colleges(both IITs and NITs) via Jossa(Joint Seat selection authority). Based on one's rank, seven rounds of counselling are held, with each round presenting a chance of upgradation to a higher placed choice of college, at the end of which, a student is allocated a college in which he may or may not take(if he/she wants to repeat) admission.

Remarks :

The authority here is very strict and they do pay very less heed to student's opinions regarding a particular matter in the campus.

Admission :

I’ve scored 2309 in JEE Advanced of 2017. I was interested in doing my Bachelors in Computer Science so I Choose this college. After the counseling, I got an admission in IIT Bhubaneswar. The opening rank for CSE was around 1600 back then and now it is 1200.

Remarks :

As an IIT, our college always stands among the Institutes in and around the world. As a second generation IIT, there a great room for development and IIT BBS is one of the fast growing IITS and 10 years down the line, it will be competitive with old IITS.

Firstly give the JEE main examination conducted twice a year in January and April. After clearing mains you are qualified for JEE advanced. To get admission in any of the IITs, you need to clear the JEE advanced in open category or in your respective category.

Remarks :

The rules are quiet strict. Try not to break those. Like there is an in-time for main gate of the College and in-time for the hostels as well. Sports facilities are not that good but work is in progress for new grounds and badminton courts.

Remarks :

Needs a development in academics, infrastructure, grounds, many other things which activates the students to get into other things apart from the studies. So that they can know their internal hidden talents which is useful for their growth in society and makes India proud.
