MUJ M.Tech AI & ML FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between M.Tech CSE (AI & ML) and B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) at MUJ? Is the M.Tech worth it if I already have a B.Tech in AIML?
Ans. The B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) is a 4-year undergraduate program providing foundational knowledge. The M.Tech CSE (AI & ML) is a 2-year postgraduate program that goes deeper into advanced topics like Deep Learning, NLP, MLOps, and includes a full internship or dissertation in Semesters 3 and 4. If you already have a B.Tech in AIML and want to specialize further, pursue research, or transition into senior AI/ML roles, the M.Tech adds significant value. It also opens doors to Ph.D. programs and research positions.

Ans. The AIML department at MUJ has seen alumni placed at organizations including IIT Kanpur, Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata, DRDO, HP Inc., Siemens Technology and Services, boAt, CamCom, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. The mix includes both research institutions and industry companies, reflecting the program's dual focus on research and applied AI. Students with strong ML skills are also well-positioned for roles at tech companies, startups, and consulting firms.
Ques. Is GATE required for M.Tech AI & ML admission at MUJ?
Ans. No, GATE is not mandatory. Admissions are based on B.Tech/BE academic performance and a personal interview. However, GATE-qualified candidates are given priority and are eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000 through the Directorate of Research. For students interested in research, having a GATE score is strongly recommended.
Ques. Does the M.Tech AI & ML program at MUJ cover MLOps and deployment, or is it only theoretical?
Ans. Yes, MLOps is explicitly part of the Semester 2 curriculum, covering the deployment and operationalization of ML models. The program also includes Data Visualization Lab, Deep Learning Lab, and project-based learning in Semesters 1 and 2, ensuring a strong practical component alongside theoretical foundations.
Ques. Can I pursue a Ph.D. after M.Tech AI & ML from MUJ?
Ans. Yes, MUJ offers a Ph.D. program and M.Tech graduates are eligible to apply. The Dr. Ramdas Pai Scholarship provides full-time Ph.D. scholars a stipend of Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 45,000 per month for up to 3 years. MUJ also supports conference attendance at Scopus/WoS-indexed events with up to Rs. 30,000 in financial support.
