PU BCA FAQs
Ques. What is the SAS Knowledge Partnership in this BCA programme, and what certifications will I get?
Ans. Poornima University has a formal MOU with SAS Institute (India) Pvt. Ltd. as the Knowledge Partner for its AI and ML programmes. This means the curriculum is co-designed with SAS, and students get the opportunity to earn globally recognised SAS certifications as part of their degree programme. The certifications available include SAS Certified Professional: AI and Machine Learning, SAS Certified Specialist: Machine Learning, and SAS Certified Natural Language and Computer Vision. These certifications are valued by employers worldwide and can significantly boost your resume when applying for AI/ML roles. The SAS partnership also means students get access to SAS software tools and training resources that are used by data scientists and AI professionals in the industry.
Ques. What is the actual fee I will pay per year, and are there any hidden charges?
Ans. The annual programme fee is ₹1,52,000, which includes Tuition Fee (₹1,02,750), Development Fee (₹34,250), and Administrative Fee (₹15,000). Additionally, a one-time non-refundable Registration Fee of ₹1,500 is payable at the time of admission, and ₹2,500 as Alumni and Convocation Fee is payable in the final year. The total academic fee for the 3-year programme comes to ₹4,58,000. Hostel is optional and costs ₹1,05,000 to ₹1,40,000 per year depending on room type. The fee is payable in 4 instalments per year. Students have reported that no extra fees are charged for college events, which is a positive aspect of the fee structure.
Ques. I scored 82% in Class 12. What scholarship will I get, and how do I ensure it continues in Year 2 and Year 3?
Ans. With 82% in Class 12, you fall in the 75% to 84.99% bracket under the Shanti Education Society (SES) Scholarship. Depending on the category assigned at the time of admission, you could receive 25%, 15%, or 5% scholarship on the Tuition Fee (₹1,02,750 per year). For example, a 25% scholarship would reduce your tuition fee by approximately ₹25,688 per year. To ensure the scholarship continues in Year 2 and Year 3, you must maintain a clean academic record with no backlogs in any paper. The scholarship is evaluated based on your CGPA in theory papers of the previous academic year. Any single backlog leads to permanent discontinuation of the scholarship for all remaining years of the programme, so maintaining consistent academic performance is critical.
Ques. What kind of jobs can I get after BCA (AI and Machine Learning) from Poornima University? How does it compare to a regular BCA?
Ans. BCA (AI and Machine Learning) is significantly more specialised than a regular BCA. While a regular BCA prepares you for general software development and IT roles, this programme specifically trains you for AI/ML roles such as Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, Applied AI Engineer, Data Science Engineer, and Head of Analytics. The SAS certifications you earn alongside the degree further differentiate you in the job market. Based on placement data from Poornima University, the highest package recorded is ₹30 LPA (university-wide), with an average package of ₹5.35 LPA. For BCA specifically, the highest recorded package is ₹13.13 LPA. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Celebal Technologies, Cognizant, and Daffodil Software have recruited from the campus. Students who build additional skills in Python, TensorFlow, and cloud platforms tend to secure better AI/ML-specific roles.
Ques. Does Poornima University require any entrance exam for BCA (AI and ML) admission? Can I apply with any stream in Class 12?
Ans. No entrance exam is required for BCA (AI and Machine Learning) admission at Poornima University. Admission is purely merit-based on your Class 12 aggregate marks. Importantly, you can apply from any stream in Class 12 (Science, Commerce, or Arts) as long as you have a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/SBC/Girls). You do not need to have Mathematics or Computer Science as a subject in Class 12, which makes this programme accessible to students from diverse academic backgrounds. The application process is entirely online at poornima.edu.in, and you can apply immediately after your Class 12 results are declared.
Ques. Is the 75% attendance rule strictly enforced, and what happens if I fall short?
Ans. Yes, the 75% attendance requirement is strictly enforced at Poornima University across all programmes including BCA (AI and ML). If your attendance falls below 75% in any subject, you may be detained from appearing in the end-semester examination for that subject, resulting in a backlog. A backlog has two serious consequences: first, it delays your academic progress; second, it leads to permanent discontinuation of the SES Scholarship for all remaining years of the programme, meaning you will have to pay the full tuition fee without any scholarship benefit. Multiple students in reviews have highlighted this as one of the strictest policies at the university. It is advisable to track your attendance regularly through the university portal and plan any absences carefully to stay above the 75% threshold in every subject.
