The college has been offering petroleum engineering since 2012 and is known for its qualified and supportive faculty, particularly in physics. The academic setup consists of two mid-term exams and one end-semester exam each semester. As a government institution, it provides affordable education. From 2012 to 2016, annual academic fees were about 60,000, while hostel fees ranged from 5,000 to 7,000 annually, with no extra costs.
Initially, the petroleum engineering graduates from the first batch didn't have placements, but placement rates have improved, with approximately 70% placement in other branches. The total course fee is around 400,000, starting with an initial payment of 46,000. Scholarships, such as fee waivers for top-performing students and SC/ST and ONGC scholarships, are available.
The college has two types of seats: GAS and SFS.
