Annamalai University Chidambaram Ph.D Education: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Education, specifically M.Ed. or M.A. Education, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized university. Candidates with qualifying scores in UGC NET, JRF, SLET, SET, or GATE are exempted from the written entrance test and need only attend the interview. SC/ST candidates receive a 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks threshold.

Ans. The annual tuition fee is INR 26,010 for full time scholars, INR 28,010 for part time internal scholars, and INR 33,410 for part time external scholars. Over the minimum three year full time duration, total tuition is INR 78,030. Optional hostel accommodation is available at INR 55,000 per annum. A one-time application fee of INR 1,500 is also payable at the time of registration.

Ans. The minimum duration is three years for full time scholars who join after completing a Master’s degree. Candidates holding an M.Phil. degree may complete in two years under full time mode. Part time scholars require a minimum of four years. The maximum permitted duration for all categories is six years from the date of first admission and fee payment.

Yes, working teachers and faculty members employed in schools, colleges, and universities may apply under the part time external category, provided they identify a research supervisor from Annamalai University and submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer. External scholars must visit the department for at least one month (minimum five days at a time) per academic year.

The Department of Education offers doctoral research across areas such as teacher education, curriculum development, educational technology, educational psychology, inclusive education, value education, and educational administration. The department is supported by UGC under SAP DRS II and offers research guidance through the Departmental Research Committee, which allots supervisors based on the scholar’s area of interest.

Ans. JRF qualified candidates in Education are eligible for the UGC JRF Fellowship.
