BBAU MBA FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between BBAU MBA and MBA Rural Management, and which suits a regular corporate career?
Ans. The BBAU MBA (main) covers Marketing, Finance, HR, Entrepreneurship, and Defence Studies within a single 90-seat program. MBA Rural Management is a separate 60-seat track aimed at roles in cooperative banking, microfinance, NGOs, and government rural programs. For a corporate career in FMCG, banking, or IT services, the MBA (Finance or Marketing specialization) is the stronger route. MBA Rural Management suits students specifically targeting the rural development or cooperative sector.
Ques. What CUET PG score is needed for BBAU MBA, and are there other entrance options?
Ans. BBAU admits MBA students exclusively through CUET PG (Management domain). CAT, MAT, XAT, and GMAT scores are not accepted. The exact cutoff is not officially pre-declared, but it is released as a merit list after CUET PG results. Finance and Marketing specializations typically see higher competition. Candidates who scored in the 70th to 80th percentile range in CUET PG generally qualify for the BBAU merit list, though this may shift each cycle.
Ques. How affordable is BBAU MBA Rural Management compared to other rural management programs in India?
Ans. BBAU MBA Rural Management charges INR 5,000 per semester for regular seats, making the total tuition for 2 years just INR 20,000. This is among the lowest for any government-funded rural management program in India. IRMA (Institute of Rural Management Anand) charges several lakhs by comparison. The 15 paid seats in the same program charge INR 45,000 per semester, still far below private B-school rates. For eligible SC/ST students, government scholarships can further reduce this to near zero.
Ques. Does BBAU MBA offer any specializations that are not available at most other B-schools?
Ans. BBAU MBA offers Defence Studies and Strategic Management, which is very uncommon among Indian MBA programs and suits students targeting policy research, defense procurement, or government advisory roles. It also offers Innovation Entrepreneurship and Venture Development for students interested in startups and venture building. These two tracks are not available at most state or central university B-schools, making BBAU MBA relevant beyond conventional Finance and Marketing career paths.
Ques. What kinds of companies recruit MBA graduates from BBAU?
Ans. BBAU’s placement cell facilitates campus drives from companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HDFC Bank, and HCL. MBA placements tend to be in banking, IT services, and FMCG sales roles. The placement cell is functional but limited compared to dedicated B-school placement offices at IIMs. Students who supplement campus drives with self-driven LinkedIn outreach and internships tend to land stronger roles. BBAU’s Lucknow location gives it access to UP-based financial institutions and government-sector organizations for campus recruitment.
