CSJMU B.P.Ed FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between B.P.Ed. and B.P.E.S. at CSJMU? Which one should I choose?
Ans. B.P.Ed. (Bachelor of Physical Education) is a 2-year NCTE-approved teacher training programme specifically designed for those who want to become Physical Education teachers in schools and colleges. It requires a graduation degree with sports participation as eligibility. B.P.E.S. (Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports) is a 3-year undergraduate programme open to 10+2 pass students, focused more broadly on sports and physical education. If your goal is to become a PE teacher in a government school, B.P.Ed. is the right choice as it is the recognised qualification for TGT/PGT Physical Education posts. B.P.E.S. is better suited for those who want a broader sports career or wish to pursue M.P.Ed. later.
Ques. Is B.P.Ed. from CSJMU valid for government school teaching jobs in UP and other states?
Ans. Yes, B.P.Ed. from CSJMU is NCTE-approved, which makes it a valid qualification for Physical Education Teacher posts in government schools across India. In Uttar Pradesh, B.P.Ed. graduates can apply for TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) Physical Education posts through UPSESSB (Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board). For PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) posts, M.P.Ed. is required. The NCTE approval certificate for B.P.Ed. at CSJMU has been in place since 2005, ensuring the degree's national recognition.
Ques. What is the Physical Fitness Test (Modified AAPHER Test) in the B.P.Ed. admission process at CSJMU?
Ans. The Modified AAPHER (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) Test is a standardised physical fitness assessment used in B.P.Ed. admissions. It typically includes components such as pull-ups/flexed arm hang, sit-ups, shuttle run, standing broad jump, and 50-yard dash. At CSJMU, this test is conducted at the campus sports facilities and is a mandatory part of the selection process. Candidates are advised to prepare physically before appearing for the test. The exact components and scoring criteria are communicated by the department at the time of admission.
Ques. Can I pursue M.P.Ed. after completing B.P.Ed. from CSJMU?
Ans. Yes, CSJMU offers M.P.Ed. (Master of Physical Education) as a 2-year NCTE-approved postgraduate programme with 40 seats. The eligibility for M.P.Ed. is B.P.Ed. or B.P.E. or B.Sc./B.A. (Hons.) in Health and Physical Education with a minimum of 50% marks. The annual fee for M.P.Ed. is Rs. 55,200 (Year 1) and Rs. 56,000 (Year 2), totalling Rs. 1,11,200. M.P.Ed. graduates are eligible for PGT Physical Education posts and college-level teaching positions, making it a natural progression after B.P.Ed.
Ques. What sports facilities are available at CSJMU for B.P.Ed. students?
Ans. CSJMU has one of the best sports infrastructures among state universities in Uttar Pradesh. Facilities available to B.P.Ed. students include: a standard 400-metre athletics track, a standard swimming pool (Funstroke Swimming Pool Complex), a multipurpose hall with badminton and table tennis courts, a well-equipped gymnasium (Eklavya Sports Complex), football and hockey grounds, basketball courts (one with floodlights), volleyball courts, kabaddi and kho-kho courts, handball courts, and a cricket ground.
