Ques. Does IIM Lucknow also use Harvard case studies like IIMA?

● Top Answer By Sourabh Kumar on 20 Mar 21

Ans. IIM Lucknow programs emphasize extensive case-based discussions, presentations, and role-plays to initiate an interactive learning environment. So, professors use cases from all B-schools across the world. Professors use cases from HBR, Ivey League, Stanford, IIM Ahmedabad, Kellogg’s, Wall Street Journal, and by IIM-L professors and students. In this premier B-school of India, almost all the subjects use case-study pedagogy. Even the oral communication subjects use cases to give a glimpse of real-time situations. The cases are important, but the level of the discussion carried out in the classroom plays a more predominant role. So, in all such analyses, the students are expected to read the case beforehand and prepare their participation notes. It is major for an extensive discussion. Some classes involve cases only. But sometimes, some use cases for discussion purposes only. All the case studies are available on the website of HBS and can be purchased. But it will not add any value to the students until debated in the classroom with experienced professors and diverse opinions of the students. The ultimate motto is to use the best cases to preview the real-life application. Harvard cases are considered to be one of the best management cases in the world.Read more

Ques. What percentile do I need to get into IIM Lucknow?

● Top Answer By Darshan Singh Bisht on 20 Mar 21

Ans. It’s not a big deal if your 10th percentage is not that great. However, if you are a male engineer with less than 80% percentile in 12th, you will need a higher percentage in order to get admission at IIM Lucknow.  Parameters: Given below are a few parameters, based on which IIM Lucknow offers admission.  Work experience 12th and Graduation Percentage Academic and Gender Diversity Expected Cutoff: At least 99.80 percentile is required to get a call, if you are a fresher male. As you will lose 20 points in the work experience and diversity category and 10 more points if you have less than 80% in 12th. IIM Lucknow gives 60% while making admission calls which is reduced to half in the final selection process. Getting a call does not necessarily mean you will get admission. So, try to score as much as possible to be on the safe side. Regardless of whichever category you belong to try to score at least 99.60+. It is also important to clear the cutoffs as well, 85 percentile.Read more

Ques. How is the career growth after one year MBA from IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore)?

● Top Answer By Keshav Jindal on 19 Mar 21

Ans. First of all, let me take my time to shatter some of the prevalent myths regarding a one-year MBA, such as: Class timings are flexible. You attend classes according to your job.  You should know that it is a one-year ‘Full Time' MBA program. Therefore, you need to be on campus and attend classes like a regular student.  You cannot continue the course with your job or take a furlough for this course because the classes run from 9 to 5 on all weekdays and may even run on the weekends. Proceeding towards the question, you are eligible for one year MBA if you are a professional with at least five years of work experience. There's clearly career growth after this course because, without this MBA, professionals with five years of experience are offered roles of mid or senior management. This transition is hard because companies don't hire you for high-paying jobs just on the basis of that much experience. Doing a one-year MBA proves better than settling for a below-average package.  This MBA course at IIMs assists you to establish your network that in turn helps you to switch to high-paying senior managerial jobs.  In the nutshell, most of the companies have started to value one-year MBA programs, you are most probably going to gain that extra edge in your career growth after pursuing this course. Even then, there might be some new HR's who are not up to date and may not open up to the one-year MBA Program. Read more

Ques. Which one should I choose between IIML-ABM and IIM Shillong PGP?

● Top Answer By Sounak Banerjee on 24 Feb 21

Ans. There are almost the same given opportunities in both the institutes during summer, Laterals and Final placements. Well, there are two things you need to focus upon: A few selected firms would not accept ABM students for the process (read Top 3 Consulting and Investment Banks and a certain Indian FMCG firm). You will have to do ABM courses in your 2nd year with an option to take 2-3 electives, whereas in PGP you will be provided almost 15 electives. Some facts regarding both institutes so that you can make better choices out of them. Categories IIM Lucknow IIM Shillong NIRF ranking 4th 30th Course Fee 10.5 lakhs/year 8 lakhs/year Highest salary package 54 lakhs 48 lakhs If you want to do Marketing or General Management or end up in consultancy, then IIM L ABM is a good course because ABM 2nd year courses are nothing but Marketing, and so you don't miss out on anything compared to a PGP student. But go for IIM L ABM if you want to seek financing or operations.Read more
