Should you pick Executive Programme in Corporate Sustainability at IIM Calcutta?

This course suits students who want a ESG job and can live in a metro campus for four years.

Pick it if:
You passed graduation in this work group: half the seats are Home State, so a rank that misses the Other State list can still get in.
You want ESG teams, not only service IT: the course-wise placement table lists the same four product recruiters in each of the last three years.
Your family can pay only in two parts: you pay the tuition fee in eight parts, and a request to split it further opens every August.
You want the fee back fast: at the average pay the full course fee comes back inside the first working year, as the ROI tile shows.
Skip it if:
You are counting on last year's closing rank: it has got tougher three years in a row, so last year's number is not a safe rank.
You need a campus room from the first year: participants share three to a room and campus rooms open only from the campus visit.
You want internships in a big city: this is a metro campus, so the placement cell brings most internships here.
You will decide after selection: IIM Calcutta asks for the fee fast, so keep your papers ready.
Counsellor's advice
Freeze this course if round 1 gives it to you on a Home State rank. If you are Other State and below the round 1 close, float it and keep a safer college above it.

In short
IIM Bangalore costs less and pays more on average, but its closing rank is about 3,000 places tougher. If your rank clears both, take IIM Bangalore; if it clears only IIM Calcutta, take this seat and do not wait for the spot round.
In short
IIM Ahmedabad places more of its batch but charges INR 75,000 more over four years and pays a little less. If its easier closing rank is what you need, keep it one place below IIM Calcutta in your choice list as the safer seat.
In short
ISB charges the same fee but pays about INR 1 LPA less on average and has half the seats. If IIM Calcutta gives you a seat in any round, take it; ISB belongs below it in your list, not above it.
In short
XLRI costs a little more and pays about the same, but it has more seats and an easier closing rank. If your rank misses IIM Calcutta in the early rounds, list XLRI right below it and take whichever comes first.
In short
MDI Gurgaon is the cheapest seat here and the easiest to get, but its average pay sits below this page's. If IIM Calcutta allots you a seat in any round, take it and keep MDI Gurgaon only as your backup.

Fees and pay can change. Check each college site before you decide.

FAQs on IIM Calcutta Executive Programme in Corporate Sustainability

Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.

Is EPCS at this college worth the fee?▾
Yes, for most students who get placed. The full fee without hostel is INR 4.80 Lakhs and the last batch averaged INR 34.2 LPA, so the fee comes back within the first working year. If a loan will pay the fee, read the EMI line in the fee block above before you decide.
Should I take this seat if my rank is just above the closing rank?▾
Not on last year's number alone. The General Home State seat closed at rank 12,400 in round 6 and it got tougher three years in a row, so a rank that just cleared last year may miss this year. Keep this college in your list with a safer college above it, and use the rank checker above for your own category.
What job will I get after this course?▾
Most students get sustainability jobs with product and IT services companies that hire on campus in the seventh term. The Class of 2025 averaged INR 34.2 LPA, the median was INR 34 LPA and 92% of the batch was placed. If you want a core electronics job instead, this course is not the right pick.
Who should not take this course here?▾
Skip it if you need a campus room from the first year, or if you want internships in a big city. First-years share three to a room and campus rooms open only from the campus visit. The campus is in a metro campus, so the placement cell brings most internships and few come on their own. If either of these matters more than the placement figures, pick a city college.
Is this course good for higher studies and research?▾
Yes, if you plan for it from the second module. The course has no minor and no specialisation before the campus visit, but the electives in the campus visit and 4 cover machine learning and networks, and the final project can lead to a research paper. Talk to the department in the second module about a project with a faculty member, because that is what a good master's application needs.
Should I wait a year and try for a better rank?▾
Only if you can raise your rank by a lot, not a little. The General closing rank got tougher three years in a row, so a small gain may still miss the seat next year. If you already clear this year's cutoff, take the seat now and try a course change after the first module if you want a sibling course.
Will I get placed if I am in the bottom half of the batch?▾
Most likely yes, but later and at a lower package. 92% of the last batch was placed, and the median of INR 34 LPA is lower than the average of INR 34.2 LPA because the last students take the smaller offers. Keep your CGPA above the cutoff the companies set, usually 7, and join the placement training the cell holds in the campus visit.
Is this course better than ECE at this college for me?▾
Pick EPCS if you want a sustainability job and ECE if you want a core electronics job. EPCS places a bigger share of its batch with ESG teams, and its closing rank is the tougher of the two. If you get ECE now and want EPCS, the course change after the first module needs a top CGPA, so do not count on it.
How do I get admission to this course?▾
Take the application review exam and fill this college in your IIM Calcutta choice list. A seat comes in the round your rank clears, and you must accept it and pay the seat fee within the days IIM Calcutta gives. Then report with your papers on the date in the admission dates block above, or you lose the seat.
What is the full fee for the course?▾
The full 1-year fee is INR 4.80 Lakhs without hostel. With hostel and mess it comes to INR 5.40 Lakhs. Both totals sit in the fee block above, and the toggle there shows what the hostel adds each year.
Can I pay the fee in parts?▾
Yes. You pay the tuition fee term by term, so the money is never due all at once. If you need smaller parts than that, write to the fee office before the term starts; the request opens every August.
Do I get the fee back if I drop the seat?▾
It depends on when you leave. If you leave before the counselling body's exit date, most of the fee comes back. If you leave after it, the college keeps a part, so read the refund table in the fee block before you pay.

What would you prefer from IIM-A, B, C, and XLRI Jamshedpur for management courses?

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

All four are the best, most renowned, highly established business schools in the country. Though to be a part of one of them will be dependent on various factors

Order of choice (highest to lowest)

  • Peer group: All of them give you a network of the sharpest and brightest minds, so all in the same boat.
  • Culture: IIM C, XLRI, IIM B & A tie at the same spot (personal opinion completely).
  • Location: Depends from person to person, so this is a ranking you'll have to do for yourself.
  • Specialization: Depends on what specialization you're looking for. IIM Ahmedabad gives you the best for Consulting, IIM Calcutta for finance.
  • Gut feeling: This is again, very personal, depending on what your dream college was when you started out.
  • Other criteria like packages, internships, fees, etc. won't be a differentiation in these because all of them would give you very similar job profiles, and CTC and have marginally different fees.

Ultimately, the institution that you choose should align with your career goals and aspirations. It's important to research and compare each institution carefully before making a decision.

How good is the Executive Program In Financial Risk Investment Management EPFRIM at IIM Calcutta?

Kabya Kalbalia
Ridhima AiriManagement Consultant | Footballer | Quizzer | IIT-Delhi Alumnus

Any course offered by an institute like IIM Calcutta is guaranteed to be of the highest quality and have significant industry relevance. Instead of this course, it is recommended that you take the CAT and then enroll in the flagship PGDM program at IIM Calcutta. That would be entirely consistent with your desire to work in investment banking.

The recent financial crisis was largely caused by managers' inability to fully comprehend and manage the operational risks of the new generation of derivatives. Future finance managers, it is believed, must be fully equipped with the mathematical and conceptual theories, as well as best practices, that go into the creation and management of such innovative products.
The IIMC faculty combines academic excellence with top management industry experience. IIMC also hires international faculty from top business schools. Is PGCGM by IIM Calcutta a good course?

Simranjit Kaur
Ravneet KaurWorks with Asia's largest education & training company

PGCGM is an excellent course if you want an IIM certification but don't want to leave your job. The learning is the same, and the faculty is the same; the only difference is that this is taught in a virtual online classroom rather than you sitting in a classroom in Calcutta. It also includes three campus visits, so you can get a feel for the campus.

Most people struggle to get into an IIM, and the PGCGM course costs 3.5 lakh versus 31 lakh for ISB's PGP Pro course.

How is the experience at the EPBM program offered by IIM Calcutta?

Prashant MantriStudied at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (Graduated 2020)

My friend has undertaken this course and shared her experience with the same.

  • The course is not for those who come with false expectations like placement offers and switching jobs. Basically, it accelerates your career and does not change it.

  • The eligibility criteria for the course is not very tough so you can see all kinds of people here. Some might even crib the course.

  • If you are already working in the technology field and earning average or above average and have no intentions of switching industries, then this course will be of little use to you.

  • This course is only for learning or if you want to decide on your MBA.

  • This course is only a certification and not a degree program.

  • The faculty of this course is top-notch and renders premium quality classes.

  • After completion of the course you'll get access to the community of alumni of LDP courses.

So you need to check your priorities before enrolling for this course. Make it solely a learning experience and you are good to go.

What are the best courses to take in IIM Calcutta?

Seeekanth ReddyMBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Graduated 2018)

My brother is in IIM Calcutta and over the period of 2 years he has studied many valuable courses. But 3 of them top the list of his favorites.

  1. Statistics for Management: Taught by Prof. Rahul Mukerjee, this course is a mandatory Term-I course. More than the subject itself it’s the professor that makes it an amazing experience. He is the recipient of many national awards and has taught all over the world at reputed universities like Harvard.

  2. Options, Futures and Derivatives: IIM Calcutta is without a doubt the finance campus of India. The finance faculty is the best you can get and this course does justice to finance completely. It’s quite a tough subject based on derivatives and technical finance. But for a true finance lover, it’s the best. It is taught by Prof. Binay Bhushan Chakrabarti (BBC) who was the Gold Medalist of the Batch of 1980 from IIM Calcutta.

  3. Management of Self: Another eye-catching course at IIM Calcutta is Management of Self taught by Prof. Leena Chatterjee. She is a motherly figure in college. This is the only course here that teaches you about nothing but your own self. It’s a sort of personality grooming course that requires you to take a few personality tests and write an autobiography. This course helps you get more familiar with yourself and overcome internal struggles. It’s a Term-V elective course.

Although all courses offered at IIM Calcutta have their own benefits, these 3 are among the best maybe because of the respective professors.
