IIM Calcutta Admission 2027 has a different process for each programme. The two year MBA takes students through CAT 2026, followed by a Writing Ability Test and a personal interview. The one year MBA for Executives, called MBAEx, is for people with at least five years of work. It uses a GMAT score, a writing test and an interview. The two year PGDBA in business analytics has its own admission test and interview. Ph.D admission looks at your test score, your marks and an interview. The Executive Ph.D is for senior professionals who keep working while they study. CAT 2026 is on 29 Nov 2026.
IIM Calcutta MBA Admission 2027
The two year MBA is the main programme at IIM Calcutta, on the Joka campus in Kolkata. Admission for the 2027-29 batch is based on CAT 2026. Shortlisted students then take a Writing Ability Test and a personal interview. In the final merit list, the interview alone gives 48 of 100 marks. The fee for the 2024-26 batch was INR 27 Lakhs.
IIM Calcutta MBA Eligibility 2027
You need a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or an equal CGPA. SC, ST and PwD students need 45%. You can apply in your final year of college. If you are selected, your college must give a letter by 30 Jun 2027 saying you have finished all degree work. A foreign degree needs an equivalence letter from the Association of Indian Universities.

The MBA for Executives, or MBAEx, is a one year full time residential MBA. It is for working people with at least five years of full time work after graduation. The 21st batch joins in 2027-28. You apply in one of two rounds with a GMAT score. The 2026-27 class had 91 students.

The PGDBA is a two year full time diploma in business analytics. IIM Calcutta offers it jointly with two other national institutes. You study one semester at each institute, then do a six month industry internship. Admission is based on a computer based test and a personal interview. The fee for the 2026-28 batch was INR 27 Lakhs.

Which subjects count when I work out my Class 10 and Class 12 marks?▾
Every subject printed on your marksheet counts, even if your board leaves some out of its own percentage. Add the marks of all subjects and divide by the total. Use this figure in your forms so it matches your papers at the interview.

Yes. You get 4 points in the interview shortlist if you are female or transgender. These points are used only for the shortlist, not for the final merit list after the interview.

Your graduation score is a bit low but it depends on your institute too. If you are from a top college, then this score will be considered pretty good. Moreover, past academics are not the only deciding factor when it comes to admission to IIMs. You do have decent changes if selection viewing your overall profile.
As for the CAT Score, don’t set a fixed target and just aim for as high as you can. The cutoffs keep changing depending on various factors so what should remain constant are your efforts. Additionally, preparing for the interview is very crucial because it determines your chances of admission.
Top management institutes in India like IIMs, XLRI, and SCMHRD require a combination of academic performance, entrance exam scores, work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in selection rounds like Personal Interviews and Group discussions.

Comparing JBIMS with IIMs is highly unjustified as IIMs are way ahead of JBIMS or FMS even if we consider the ROI. They are unique in many aspects such as
IIM ABC and ISB is the only B-schools that offer Investment banking profiles in placement. Even if we look at other profiles, it’s easy to infer that they are much superior in terms of quality than the ones offered at JBIMS.
Being a pass out of IIMs or ISB, you have an upper hand in the higher spectrum of one’s career, i.e, leadership roles.
JBIMS or FMS lack the general ambiance and culture of a typical B School due to a lack of residential and campus facilities.
The peer quality of IIMS and ISB are much better than JBIMS whose gender ratio, diversity, and competitive exam are very one-dimensional.
The only significant aspect of JBIMS is the ROI which when negated makes JBIMS as mediocre as SP Jain and MDI.
The placement statistics of JBIMS are much similar to that of new IIMs or average B Schools like MDI, and SP Jain. They are in no way in comparison to the top IIMs even with batch sizes as small as 120.
So one should choose JBIMS or FMS over IIM only if one wants to spend low fees, take no loans, or pursue MBA in Mumbai or Delhi.

I don’t think it's wise to decide to drop out from IIM Lucknow when you already worked hard and cracked the entrance. You even succeeded in the interview and yet here you want to give it all up. Every year the level of difficulty of entrance exams like the CAT and XAT keeps changing. Students who might have scored 90+ percentile one year might score 40-60 percentile next year. It all depends on preparation and mindset. Meanwhile, you have already succeeded and gotten into an IIM so why take it for granted?
Yet if you are adamant about not continuing, I would suggest you just focus on your job and gain a lot of experience. Chances are that you might climb the ladder without an MBA or IIM. Many CEOs and CFOs don’t need an MBA to make them what they are.
Despite it all, if you are appearing again for CAT, then make sure you have a valid explanation of dropping out during your interview.

That is perfectly acceptable. This should not be an issue. You are eligible to apply for IIM Calcutta's PGDBA program even if you have taken a year drop after the 12th. The only thing you should be prepared for is a valid reason for taking a year's leave.
Your response must be convincing, and you must not appear to have wasted your gap year. Whatever the reason, you must be prepared to provide a confident response. You can be comfortable knowing that it will have no effect on your selection process.

So, without a doubt, your academic results are excellent and will aid you in the admissions process (though relatively low). So, if you want to get into IIM C for MBA, you should focus on getting a higher CAT percentile and excellent PI preparation and performance.
If you have academic or gender diversity work experience, or if you are from the EWS/PwD/NC-OBC/SC/ST category, the process will be sped up.
