Jadavpur University M.Arch : Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (B.Arch.) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD). A valid GATE score in Architecture and Planning (AR) is preferred and may give priority in selection. All candidates must appear for the selection interview at JU School of Architecture. Final admission is based on merit and interview.

Ans. The M.Arch. at Jadavpur University is offered in Urban Design through its School of Architecture under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The programme covers urban design theory and practice, city form and morphology, heritage and conservation, sustainable urban development, and research methods in architecture. Students undertake a research dissertation in the second year.

Ans. The total fee for the 2-year M.Arch. programme at JU is INR 4,800 for self-sponsored students, at INR 2,400 per year. As a state university, JU offers highly affordable postgraduate education in architecture. Students should confirm the exact fee and any revised rates with JU at the time of admission.

Ans. M.Arch. graduates from JU can pursue careers as urban designer, architect, urban planner, heritage conservationist, architectural researcher, and faculty member at architecture schools, government urban development bodies, real estate developers, and academic institutions. Graduates can also apply for Council of Architecture registration to practise as architects, and appear for PhD programmes at IITs, NITs, or JU.

Ans. GATE in Architecture and Planning (AR) is not mandatory for M.Arch. admission at JU, but candidates with a valid GATE AR score may receive priority in selection. All candidates must appear for the selection interview, and final admission is based on a combination of academic merit, GATE score (if applicable), and interview performance. Students without a GATE score can still apply and be selected on merit.

Ans. Jadavpur University has hostel facilities on campus for both male and female students, subject to availability. M.Arch. students may apply for hostel accommodation separately from course admission. Hostel allotment is limited and not guaranteed.
