Ques. Where are placements better, IIEST or NIT Durgapur?
● Top Answer By Shivani Das on 30 May 21
Ans.Having friends in both the institutes, I can say that overall, NIT Durgapur is a better choice among the two. But IIEST is also an excellent institute with national importance.
There are several factors that affect the placement in both the institutes, according to them here are some -
IIEST is a famous and well-established institute in West Bengal, previously known as BESU. But, considering India, NIT Durgapur is more popular. The NIT tag itself is a highlight.
NIT Durgapur has several alumni in tech giants across the world. Students from IIEST are currently in IITs and IISc. This is due to their popularity for higher education.
Companies recruit fewer students from IIEST, as they have a tendency to leave jobs for better opportunities in higher studies.
NIT Durgapur also has an excellent coding culture. This increases the chances of securing a job.
Due to the increase in the number of seats at IIEST, the chances of placement are decreasing.
The following table shows important statistics for both institutes:
TCS, Wipro, Wells Fargo, Deutsche Bank, etc.
IBM, HCL, Infosys, ZS Associates, etc.
NIT Durgapur is a more legit choice for students interested in placement than IIEST Shibpur.Read more
Ques. Which one is better, CSE at MNIT Jaipur or NIT Durgapur?
● Top Answer By Palak Ghosal on 26 May 21
Ans.There are not many differences between the institutes. You can prefer MNIT, Jaipur only if the location is advantageous on your side. The difference, however, is not exactly a lot.
The average placement in Jaipur has been better for several years now. However, if you have the will to work, with relevant education, then the opportunities and offers provided by either of these institutes are the same. Various top companies recruit almost the same number of students from both of these institutes.
For instance, in 2019, 11 students were recruited by Microsoft from NIT Durgapur with a package of 39 LPA each. 4 other students were recruited by Amazon with 20 LPA and above. There are several others too.
Here is the placement reports of the year 2020 for both the institutes,
No. of Students Placed
INR. 38 LPA
INR. 33 LPA
INR. 8.9 LPA
INR. 9.09 LPA
Amazon, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Capgemini, Deloitte
Samsung, Cognizant, Brahmos, JCB, Alstom, ZS Associates
Thus, there are somewhat the same opportunities in both. Google and Facebook have also visited the campus to recruit students previously. DE SHAW, Samsung, R & D, Directi, Goldman Sachs are other top-tier companies that visit the campus timely.
In the case of the brand name and as an overall institute, MNIT Jaipur is considered better than NIT Durgapur.
MNIT is better in terms of infrastructure when compared to NIT Durgapur. Although, there are major upgrades and infra-development occurring in NIT Durgapur, yet it will still take about 3 to 5 years more.Read more
Ques. How is ECE in IIIT Allahabad? Is it better than NIT Durgapur?
● Top Answer By Ankita Bose on 11 May 21
Ans.IIIT Allahabad is unquestionably superior to NIT Durgapur. But this isn't to say that NIT Durgapur isn't good.
If you want a career in ECE, don’t go for NIT Durgapur. ECE branch at NIT Durgapur does not have good reviews.
However, if you want to go for an MBA after your BTech, then NIT Durgapur can be a good option.
In the ICT sector, IIIT Allahabad holds a special position for ECE and this institute specializes in the IT sector. I have a few friends at the institute who vouches for the course.
Here’s a brief comparison of the ECE branch at these two institutes.
Apart from that, just like NITD, IIIT Allahabad is an institute of national importance that is entirely funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
So, for ECE, IIIT Allahabad is definitely the better option.Read more
Ques. Which college is better: NIT Jamshedpur or NIT Durgapur?
● Top Answer By Abhishek Sarkar on 10 May 21
Ans.Both the institutes will give you the tag of NITian, however, NIT Durgapur has a bit of an edge over NIT Jamshedpur. According to NIRF rankings and my friends’ experience, NIT Durgapur is ahead of the latter because of the following reasons.
NIT Jamshedpur was once upon a time (about 30 years back) known for its strikes and political issues, not much has changed since then.
Coming to NIRF rankings, NIT Durgapur ranks 47, whereas NIT Jamshedpur ranks 79 which is way behind.
Placements at these two NIT are not much different.
Overall, NIT Durgapur comes with a better ranking, better infrastructure, and an economical fee structure.Read more
Ques. Should I attend NIT, Durgapur; IIITM, Gwalior; IIIT, Amethi; or drop for IIT next year?
● Top Answer By Rachita Bose on 05 May 21
Ans.My brother was in a similar situation back in 2014 with a rank of 11,000 in JEE advanced and 28,000 in JEE Mains. If you belong to the general category with this score, there is no chance of being able to attend IIT counseling.
If you are determined to attend IIT, you should consider taking a drop and try again next year and not regret your decision of not getting into core IITs.
IIITM Gwalior or IIIT Amethi are not that great when it comes to placements.
You will also notice that core IITs have a different vibe to them and the environment is definitely much better too. So you should definitely not settle for something less than what you deserve.
If you think you need help preparing, you can even think of joining a coaching center. With determination and hard work, you will definitely be able to join one of the core IITs and your life will be set later.
However, ensure that you are completely sure of your decision. If you want to be on the safer side, you can take admission to IIITM Gwalior. If you are interested in coding, you will surely do well here. On the other hand, you can also prepare for JEE side by side as it is easy to be a student at IIITM Gwalior without much pressure.
In case you do succeed, you will end up at a much better institute and if not, you can always fall back on IIITM Gwalior.Read more
The institute is really helpful for students with financial difficulties. If the family income is less than 1 lakh then the full tuition fee of the student is waived. If the family income is less than 5 lakh then 1/3rd fee needs to be paid.
In the 1st sem, our fee was approx 31000 rs. which included 10000 rs. Refundable fee. So overall for our course the fee will be about 50000 per year. Some of us also getting inspire scholarship and many more.
The fees were approximately 70,000 rupees per semester. These were the general fees per semester for most students. Scholarships and assistance are provided to students with category or low family income. There aren't any jobs I know of on campus with any stipend.
The online semesters required us to pay the fees in two installments, along with hostel fees (paid together if offline semester).
The fees are approximately 70000 to 75000 per semester, and fee waivers are available for the economically weaker sections.
Jobs are good, and many companies come for interviews. Most of our seniors got placed in good companies.
I have joined the college in 2016 and that was the same year NIT and IIT had seen the hike in tuition fees. For the current session, the annual tuition fee is Rs.125000 and you pay around Rs. 70000 per semester including all other charges. With this If you belong to any category or low financial background, there is financial assistance and you get a waiver in the tuition fees. There is a number of scholarships that you can get on the basis of merits like OPJEMS.
Coming to placements, It offers a decent placement with large companies visiting the campus like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, TCS, L&T, and a few PSUs too. It has the highest package of 27-30 LPA and an average of 5 -6 LPA. CSE and ECE enjoy the highest percentage of placement while Civil and Biotechnology being the lowest.
I got the campus placement at Azure Power as a Graduate Engineering Trainee with a CTC of 5 LPA.
The fees structure of this college is better than others
Because it's a government college. In which also applicable many scholarships & financial assistance As like national scholarship & fee remission on family income such as Full remission of institute fee. family income less than 1 lakh.1/3 payable institute fee family income 1 lakh to 3 lakh.
2/3 payable institute fee. family income 3 lakh to 5 lakh.
Full payable if family income more than 5 lakhs.
The fees of all NITs and IITs are decided by the central govt. During my admission, it was around 47k per semester, which I think is around 65k now for general candidates. There are some scholarships provided to ST and SC students and also for students with annual income less than some prescribed amount. Some students even apply for student loans (check the bank websites to know more).
The placement is good for some branches (not 100% guaranteed). But the number of companies visiting the campus has increased. You can sit for placements depending on the company requirements. You cannot sit again after getting placed, except if the offer is through mass placement. The companies that visited include Microsoft (highest package of 40lpa), Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, IOCL, Factset, Coal India, C-DOT, BEL, Wipro, JP Morgan Chase, Amazon, L&T, RIL, Vedanta, etc. The average package is 6lpa.
Being a government-aided college there are various scholarship opportunities available and emissions for economically weaker students and various scholarships are available for studying in foreign colleges nearly All students get placed on campus with a handsome salary and good stipend on internship
