MAKAUT M.Tech Software Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold a B.Tech or BE degree in a relevant engineering or technology discipline from a recognised university with at least 55 percent aggregate marks. A valid GATE score is required for merit-based shortlisting. Candidates who are NET-qualified or have sponsored research experience may also be considered at the department’s discretion. Final selection is through a research proposal and departmental interview at MAKAUT Haringhata.

Ans. The total programme fee for the 2-year M.Tech Software Engineering at MAKAUT is INR 86,800, paid as INR 43,400 per year. The fee covers tuition, examination, laboratory access, and statutory university charges. GATE-qualified scholars may receive the MHRD scholarship of INR 12,400 per month. Hostel accommodation is available separately at the Haringhata campus. Fees are paid semester-wise.

M.Tech Software Engineering graduates from MAKAUT can work as software architects, senior software developers, quality assurance engineers, DevOps engineers, technical project managers, and software test leads at IT services companies, product companies, banks, and government technology agencies. CDAC and NIC recruit software engineering graduates. Graduates may also pursue PhD in software engineering or qualify for assistant professor positions in CS departments after clearing GATE or UGC-NET.

GATE-qualified candidates admitted to M.Tech Research at MAKAUT are eligible for the MHRD Teaching Assistantship scholarship of INR 12,400 per month, subject to satisfactory academic progress and departmental duties. West Bengal domicile students may also apply for the Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship if family income is below INR 2.5 lakhs per year.
